Make Yourself at Home, Sheffield ECO SOFAS Sheffield City Council, has launched ‘Make Yourself at Home’ - a new initiative to help support the businesses and communities of Sheffield. The aim of the campaign is to give confidence to residents as they begin to interact more with various areas of the city and to support businesses in their economic recovery. It will be used to promote the city as a whole, as well as give businesses a toolkit they can use to communicate to their own customers. The Council has consulted with private sector organisations through the city’s Sheffield Business Response Group to help
produce ‘Make Yourself at Home’, alongside the council’s own Public Health and City Centre Management in order to align business recovery with essential public health messaging concerning Coronavirus (Covid-19). Director of Public Health at Sheffield City Council Greg Fell said: “It is great news for the local economy that further businesses will be able to re-open from July 4th. We are confident that businesses have all the necessary safety measures in place to make sure cafés, restaurants, hotels and hairdressers can welcome the return of
customers. “The further lifting of lockdown restrictions by the Government does not mean a lift to our local safety measures and guidance around the wellbeing of our residents and we will continue to keep a careful eye on the reopening of the city’s businesses to make sure this is done to minimise risk of transmission both indoors and outdoors where people are gathered together. “If we continue to observe the social distancing measures in place and groups maintain their advised social bubbles, we are confident that the general public will be safe as long as we all remain
cautious and continue to observe the guidelines. This is essential if we are to prevent any outbreaks in the city. “It’s important to remember that the virus is still in the community so we will see cases in Sheffield however, businesses have wellprepared plans on how they need to respond to a coronavirus incident. This includes continued plans for testing, self-isolation where appropriate, and deep cleaning advised for affected premises. As is now standard practice, any positive cases will be followed up by NHS Test and Trace, with any close contacts of cases informed and advised to self-isolate.
“The council’s Public Health team continue to work closely with colleagues at Public Health England to manage the safe reopening of the city with appropriate safety measures in place to control any future infections in Sheffield.”

TRAMLINES FESTIVAL ANNOUNCE OVER £13K RAISED FOR CHARITY IN 2019 AND LAUNCH ‘CHARI-TEES’ Tramlines Festival 2019 took place from 19 – 21 July last year with the largest crowd ever filling Hillsborough Park to enjoy acts like Two Door Cinema Club, Courteeners, Nile Rodgers with Chic and many more. Amongst the revelry, the festival raised a total of £13.9k which was split between Weston Park Cancer Charity, Cavendish Cancer Care, Sheffield Young Carers, Snowdrop Project and Poppy Appeal. Although Tramlines 2020 has been officially postponed, the festival is still looking at ways to support local causes and has just announced their new ‘Chari-tees’ initiative. A limited edition designed set of T-Shirts are up for pre-order via the Tramlines website with all profits going to charity. The cash raised in 2019 brings the total for the last two years to a staggering £40k. 2018 saw huge donations for local cancer charities following the tragic death of festival director Sarah Nulty just weeks before the
event. A large chunk of money raised in the last two years comes from ‘Nulty’s Bar’, a backstage area built, staffed and stocked voluntarily by Sarah’s friends and family. The ‘Charit-Tees’ project features two brand new and exclusive designs, The ‘Be Reyt’ T-Shirt designed at Tramlines HQ, and the ‘Beautiful Sheffield’ T-Shirt from Sheffield based artist Tom J Newell who also designed the legendary ‘Be More Nulty’ logo. Money raised from this project will go to Roundabout, iForge, Disability Sheffield, Sheffield S6 Foodbank and Cavendish Cancer Care.
the donations and awareness we offer helps in a small way means the world to us. Having met with and seen the work that these folks do, I know that every penny donated helps so many people within Sheffield and the wider region. We will continue to build relationships, raise awareness and money and be in awe of the amazing charities we work with. Pre-order now at tramlinesfestival.bigcartel.com
SNODGRASS My online dating bio says that I have a corner office with views of the entire city, drive a £500,000 vehicle, and that I’m paid to travel. My dates are always upset when I tell them I’m a bus driver. My horse has insomnia and keeps everyone awake. She’s a nightmare. After all these years, my wife still thinks I’m sexy. Every time I walk by she says: “What an ass!” My wallet is like an onion. When I open it, it makes me cry. I used to be addicted to time travel. But that’s all in the past now.
Emma Draper, CEO of Cavendish Cancer Care said, ‘We are over the moon at the continued support from Tramlines these past few years. Not only the fantastic fundraising they have done, they have helped us be seen by more families across the region who need our support. Their recent donation will help us continue to provide our therapy services to those who need us now, more than ever, to ensure no one faces cancer alone.’
I challenged the number 1 to a fight, but he brought his friends 3, 5, 7, and 9. The odds were against me. I was feeling bad about the future today, but then I installed the new version of office. It improved my outlook. Just read an interesting fact - Bruce Lee had a vegan brother; Broco Lee.
Timm Cleasby, Tramlines Director of Operations said, ‘In tough times we have to look after and help each other. Supporting local charities and groups is super important to the Tramlines team and knowing that
I’m not wearing glasses anymore. I’ve seen enough.

HISTORIC SHEFFIELD CLUB SHOWS THAT ADAPTING TO CHANGE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS Crookes Club in Sheffield have shown that they are ready to embrace the new way of working following government advice on social distancing. Although customer numbers within the club will be greatly reduced due to social distancing the club have come up with an ingenious idea. The club’s bowling green has been converted into what we believe is the biggest beer garden in Sheffield. Currently with seating for up to 180 people the Bowling Green Beer Garden has the space to increase this number to up to 360 people if needed. Historically Bowling Greens have been considered almost hallowed land, but the members of Crookes Club have recognised
the need to the business to adapt to allow it to survive. The Club first opened its door in 1919 right in the middle of the world Flu epidemic. It continued to trade successfully through the second world war and has through adaptation and tenacity survived all the other obstacles thrown at the club in the last 100 years. The 2020 Covid epidemic is no different. The club committee and members have taken a long look at the business and identified what we will need to do to allow this historical institution to survive. General Manager Maurice Champeau said “We need to adapt. Things will be very different in the club, we can’t have live entertainment any more and the usual club activities such as bingo may for

Currently with over 25 tables seating up to 6 people each we can welcome members old and new back to the club and provide a venue to allow our customers to socialise in safety.” Maurice said “Since news of our beer garden leaked from the club the phone has been almost ringing off the hook for people wanting to reserve a table for reopening

Rod licence sales boom! More than 335,000 rod licences have been sold since May 13, 2020 when lockdown restrictions on angling were finally lifted, according to data released by the Environment Agency this week. The staggering figure, which represents a hike of 200,000 – or 230 per cent – over the same period last year, is thought to include a significant number of licences
bought by newcomers to angling. “It’s been encouraging to see not only anglers returning to the sport, but also newcomers trying fishing for the first time amongst those buying licences” said Dr Graeme Storey, EA Acting Deputy Director for Fisheries and the Natural Environment. “Fishing is an excellent way to engage with nature and the outdoors, which provides much needed positive health and welfare benefits,” he added. “As a consequence of revenue generated through the sale of rod licences, we are able to protect and improve the things anglers care most about.”

Referee Tierney deemed Basham had upended Lacazette, who went down easily, just inside the box and after a stoppage for treatment for the Arsenal forward, PEPE fired past Henderson from the spot. That goal had given the visitors a foothold in the game and Henderson needed to be quickly down at his near post to deny Pepe from making it two after he had combined with Lacazette. The next action of note saw Fleck yellow carded for a late tackle on Lacazette. A further blow for the home side followed as Lundstram was forced off with what looked a shoulder problem and he was replaced by Berge. As half-time approached it was Arsenal who continued to look a live threat on the break. Henderson palmed away a centre
from Maitland-Niles, before Tierney fired wide. At the other end, United worked an opportunity for themselves, ending with Norwood testing Martinez, but it was Arsenal who came even closer moments later as Pepe sent a first time effort just wide from Tierney’s low cross and that was the last meaningful action of the first period despite seven minutes of added time. Like the first-half, it was United on the front foot at the beginning of the second, but Martinez waa equal to McBurnie’s header from Robinson’s long throw. The Arsenal goalkeeper was then almost caught out by a long punt forward, before United were denied an equaliser despite a VAR check from Norwood’s low free-kick, which ended with Egan forcing the ball home. On the hour, the Blades should have deservedly
restored parity, having fashioned the best opportunity of the game, which ended with Robinson crossing to the back post only for Basham to head wide with Martinez scrambling across his goal. Two minutes later, Kieron Freeman replaced Baldock, prior to the visitors making a double change. With the Blades pressing forward, Robinson was
PALMER CELEBRATES 300 GAMES
Liam Palmer praised the adaptability of him teammates following Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate. The defender, who made his 300th career appearance against the Robins, has been playing as part of a back three since the restart and is delighted with how the Owls are looking. Palmer said: “It’s a big three points today, we desperately needed a win and I think we also deserved one last time out. It was good to see it out today and take some momentum from the last match into this one. I think everyone has used the lockdown to look at how you can improve. We had a good week of just pure fitness and running, which I think was good for the boys. Then we got into our shape and we’re playing a new system now that we’re all buying into and it seems to be going well so far. It’s a
booked for clipping Nketiah as the visitors looked to break, as Sharp took the place of Basham. As the game entered the last ten minutes, it was United throwing everything at Arsenal, but the ball just would drop favourably for McBurnie and then moments later Fleck. But finally, with three minutes remaining,
the ball did bounce the Blades way and MCGOLDRICK forced the ball home past Martinez after Kolasinac and Holding had failed to clear Robinson’s long throw. United were now chasing the winner in normal time, but Martinez denied Sharp at his near post after a flurry of bodies had blocked
previous efforts from McGoldrick and Norwood. Five minutes of added time were signalled and it was Arsenal who snatched an undeserved winner on the break, with CEBALLOS sliding the ball past Henderson following a swift counter involving Saka, Nketiah and Pepe and cruelly that was the way it ended.
slightly different position for me personally but we’ve got the personnel in the team to adapt to that. Different lads have filled into certain positions like Jacob and Kadeem on the sides and they’ve done that seamlessly, so I think it suits our style of play.” Palmer’s 300-game landmark takes into account his loan spell with Tranmere in 2012/13, but the boyhood Wednesdayite is delighted to have reached the milestone whilst playing for the Owls. The Scotland international added: “You look season on season and you just want to play as many games as possible. “I’ve been fortunate in the last couple of seasons to have played a good number of matches, and obviously coming through the academy it makes that extra special. It’s nice, they are things to look back on when your career is done and I want to reach as many games as possible.” Meanwhile manager Garry Monk praised the attitude and quality of his team following
Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Sunday. Goals from Connor Wickham and Massimo Luongo sealed three points for the Owls, and the manager is pleased to see the improvements his side are making since the season restarted last week. Monk said: “I think overall we are pleased again. We talked about building on last week’s performance where we got a lot right and today we did that. We played against a good side and I think we showed a lot of what we have worked on in training. I spoke about this period being a time for reflection and a renewed attitude, and I think that’s been reflected in these two games. Attitude and quality is what we’ve been working on and in these two games we’ve seen a step in the right direction. “I know it’s only two games, and I know things are going to get harder with the shorter turnaround between matches, but if we can maintain that attitude and quality we’ve
been playing with then hopefully we can do well. We could maybe have had a couple more today but overall we controlled the game and in the final minutes they were obviously going to throw everything at us, being the home team, but we defended with bodies on the line.” Crystal Palace loanee Wickham now has two goals from as many games since the restart, and Monk is happy to see the forward looking sharp. He added: “Connor exemplifies what all the players who’ve committed to being here have done, they’ve come back in with a great attitude and worked hard on fitness to be ready. I knew when I brought Connor in that he wouldn’t be at his full match sharpness, he hadn’t played a great deal of football, so he was always going to take time to get back to his usual sharpness.
