TRAMLINES 2021 DATES CONFIRMED TICKETS ON SALE NOW Tramlines Festival has announced that over 90% of the ticket buyers for the 2020 event have retained their tickets for the event
next year, the whole team is immensely grateful for the continued support. The remaining tickets for the 2021 event are now on sale
at tramlines.org.uk/tickets. Tramlines would also like to thank everyone who has helped to raise a staggering £20k for charities and local causes in 2020. With the festival postponed, Tramlines Festival used the festival weekend to raise money by hosting a huge raffle, collaborating with Thornbridge to create the official Tramlines ale, ‘In the Park’, and the ‘Chari-tees’, t-shirts with exclusive designs from Sheffield artist Tom J Newell and the in-house Tramlines team. Every penny of the money raised will be donated to Roundabout,
Disability Sheffield, S6 Foodbank, iForge and Cavendish Cancer Care. The Tramlines ‘In the Park’ ale is still available to purchase via the Thornbridge website or at various local outlets. Local charities S6 Food Bank and Disability Sheffield have commented on how the donations will help them below: “The donation from Tramlines will be used to buy items which are out of stock during the next season. On a weekly basis, we’re feeding around 1000 people per week and using 8 tonnes of food, which is worth about £10,000. We expect this to rise by at least 20% during the winter months. This
will allow us to buy items in bulk to feed everyone who have been referred to us. As brilliant as the food donations are, this is no longer enough to sustain the demand.” - Chris, S6 Foodbank Emily Morton - Chief Executive of Disability Sheffield said; “We will be using the generous donation from Tramlines to support two of our projects. Sheffield Cycling 4 All will be adding two new folding e-trikes to their existing Trike Loan scheme, increasing people’s access to cycling. The scheme, which is free of charge, enables people with disabilities or long-term health conditions to borrow an e-trike for... Continued on page 4 >>>

one to three months outside of Hillsborough park to experience the fun, independence, and health benefits of cycling in
Sheffield. In this COVIDage, where the people most affected are disabled or have long term health conditions, having accessible and affordable cycling is a perfect way to gain the benefits of low impact exercise,
maintain independence and low carbon emissions for better air quality. The money will also enable Sheffield Voices, our selfadvocacy group, to expand their weekly programme of activities in order to connect
with more people with a learning disability or autism, many of whom have become increasingly isolated during the COVID- pandemic. A massive thank you to everyone who contributed to this fund and to Tramlines themselves for choosing to support us”.
Timm Cleasby, Tramlines Festival Operations Manager said; “It’s been a tough year for everyone and we all need things to look forward to, we know life remains uncertain but we wanted to get started to ensure we’re in the best place for next year’s festival. Although not being in the park this year was a huge blow for us all that didn’t stop us getting together and having a bit of fun at the
virtual festival and South Yorkshire did us proud by raising an incredible £20,000 for the local charities we support. Loads of you kept hold of your tickets to support us and that means so much to all the team. It’s such a big thing to know you all love Tramlines that much and we wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone who is with us

british red cross sheffield named as area of enhanced support Public Health England has designated • An Order and Collect service at all council-run as an area of ‘enhanced support’. libraries during October. offers free coronavirus Sheffield Being named an area of ‘enhanced support’ • 9 computers for use in the central library as means that Sheffield is now on the second rung part of The People’s Network. They will be support line help of a three-step ladder on the Government’s provided in a separate bookable room with If you’re at home and finding it hard to access food or medication, or you are feeling lonely or worried, call the British Red Cross Coronavirus Support Line today. Our friendly volunteers answering calls on the helpline can give you emotional or practical support, or direct you to other people or local services. And if you just want to talk, we are here to listen. What is the British Red Cross coronavirus support line? The support line was set up to provide support to communities and people in need during the coronavirus pandemic. We give people without a support network someone to talk to, and can help them access things they may need like food, medicine and emotional support. Who will you speak to if you call the coronavirus support line? Our support line is run by our experienced ‘psychosocial and mental health’ volunteers at the British Red Cross. You will speak to a human (no bots here!) like former nurse Chris, who has been volunteering with us for 35 years. What support can the coronavirus support line provide? Chris and the rest of our team of friendly volunteers will be more than happy to provide practical and emotional support, lend a listening ear and give you the contact details of local organisations offering all kinds of help. Whether for yourself or if you are calling on behalf of someone you know, you can get confidential help with: • Mental health: coping with self-isolation and loneliness, and a listening ear if you need it. • Access to food or medication: collecting prescriptions if you can’t get to the doctors and arranging food deliveries at home. • Guidance and advice: we can give you details of where to turn for financial help with rent, bills, benefits and homelessness. Who is the coronavirus support line for? The support line is for anyone who is lonely or worried or finding it difficult to access food and medication. We want to reach people who may not be receiving help from anywhere else, and who are at risk of further health and well-being issues as a result of isolation. This includes people who may be shielding but have no family or support system nearby and can’t get online for help. How do you contact the coronavirus support line? The number to call is 0808 196 3651 Does it cost anything to call the coronavirus support line? No, calling our support line is completely free. What are the hours of operation for the coronavirus support line? You can call us every day between 10am – 6pm. If you call outside our opening hours, please leave us a message with your contact details. We will get back to you in the morning. Who can I contact outside the hours of the coronavirus support line? If you need someone to talk to someone urgently outside of our opening hours, the Samaritans are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call them for free on 116 123 or write them an email. If you are worried you or someone you know may be at risk of coronavirus, please use the online NHS 111 coronavirus service.
‘watchlist’, and we are in line to receive extra support to help us reduce the number of cases in our city. An area of enhanced support is described as being at medium or high risk of intervention and means having a detailed, nationally agreed plan in place with additional government support An area of intervention is the highest level, where there is a “divergence” between the local measures in place to control the spread of coronavirus and national restrictions across England. Direcot of Health greg Fell says, “This means we will be in receipt of additional support to prevent further spread of the virus in our city with particular support given to mitigate infection rates amongst areas with higher case rates. Sheffield has higher rates than we would like to see in our region, but we have continued to monitor this situation very carefully. We have a very good understanding of the dynamics of transmission in our communities and extra help from Government is welcomed. This may come in the form of additional testing units and support from expertise in how the virus is spreading in our communities and testing data. But further restrictions are not out of the question if it means we are to keep our residents and our city safe. “ Sheffield City Council have been providing an Order and Collect service in a number of libraries since early August so that as many people as possible could borrow books and resources across the city. The correct Covid-19 measures are in place so that all libraries are as safe as possible. Every library building is slightly different and naturally the most important part of reopening has been about safety. The next phase of reopening was to make book browsing available soon too, but this is being delayed until the guidance followed allows this, whilst also continuing to plan for increases in the offer. What’s new As an addition to services, however, the Council will be offering: • Extended opening hours for the Order and Collect service at The Central Library on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 5 October.
social distancing measures in place to provide maximum safety. They are also pleased to announce that from Monday 12 October they will be able to safely open Sheffield City Archives on Shoreham Street, which offers a range of historical materials, including family and local history resources. Customers will be able to access these materials on an order and view basis and will need to contact Sheffield City Archives on 0114 2039395 or archives@sheffield.gov.uk to order documents in advance and book their appointment. The Council are also now providing home library service deliveries again in their new electric van. The service delivers to any Sheffield resident who is unable to get to their local library and has no-one to help them do so, or who may be able to get to the library but cannot carry the books they’ve chosen. The service can be offered on a temporary basis also, for example whilst someone is recovering from an operation. For more information about this service customers can call 0114 273 4277 or email Mobileservices.Library@sheffield.gov.uk Councillor Mary Lea, Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Leisure at Sheffield City Council said: “The most important part of reopening is safety and we are being extra vigilant and following guidance. This means that some services will be available at some libraries before others. For example, we’re able to open Sheffield Archives and the People’s Network in the central library because the right safety measures are possible and will be in place. We know that this is a very difficult time for so many people and the reassurance and welcome that a library brings is something we want to see re-established as soon as possible right across the city.” More information about services in volunteer libraries is at https://volunteerlibrariesinsheffield.org/
A community with a zest for later life An apartment at Jacob’s Gate in Sheffield is far more than just a new home. Our communities offer a range of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments in a safe, secure and happy environment, with a circle of friends right on your doorstep. In uncertain times, that’s more important than ever. Many of our Homeowners have told us how much it helps to have such a strong sense of community and a friendly management team on-site 24/7 365 days a year to provide advice, assistance and moral support. Have more fun, make more friends Enjoy the best of both worlds: a beautiful, selfcontained apartment of your own where you can retreat to enjoy your own company; and a thriving community offering new friendships, social occasions and safe activities on your doorstep that you can dip into whenever you want to. Less maintenance, more ‘me time’ When the maintenance of your house and garden become a full-time job, you can find yourself lacking the time and energy to do anything else. At Jacob’s Gate, you no longer
have to worry about maintenance or mowing. All apartments have their own private patio or balcony and everyone can enjoy the beautiful, landscaped gardens, offering quiet corners, a summer house and relaxing spaces. Adlington Homeowner Mabel Griffiths has been enjoying her newfound freedom at The Bridges in Macclesfield. “I feel like a lady of leisure really - being waited on and not having to do a lot. We’ve got so much more leisure time to do what we want to do’’. Safety and security One of the aspects that appeals to many Homeowners is that we can help create tailored personal care packages to suit individuals’ needs. Be it short-term support after an operation, or more regular, long-term personal care. Together with our local care partner, we ensure a flexible solution to suit you. During the UK lockdown, our team shopped for our Homeowners, collected prescriptions and created ‘pop-up shops’ to provide a safe and easy way to pick up everyday essentials. When our restaurants had to temporarily close, our catering teams offered the same

Monk: ‘They gave me everything’ With frustration and disappointment in his voice tangible, Garry Monk still found praise for his players following the 1-1 draw with QPR. The Londoners salvaged a point in stoppage time through Macualey Bonne to thwart the Owls, who led after Yoann Barbet put through his own goal. Despite that last gasp concession, Monk was
Windass voted Wednesday’s Player of the Month Josh Windass has been voted as the swfc.c.uk September Player of the Month. The 26-year-old re-joined the Owls on a permanent deal ahead of the 2020/21 campaign after a successful loan spell at Hillsborough last
largely pleased with what he saw in the driving rain at Hillsborough. He told swfc.co.uk: “Obviously I’m disappointed, we all are because they have given me everything today. The spirit and the attitude was fantastic, I couldn’t have asked for more. “We had our plans disturbed before the game because Dominic Iorfa felt his hamstring, Izzy Brown felt his knee and Alex Hunt was ill. “Then we lost Liam Shaw after the first tackle of the game and I really felt for Liam because that was a chance for him. Liam Palmer came on and then had to go off because he felt pain in his back, then Tom Lees had to go off right at the end. “I think if Tom was on the pitch, we don’t concede that goal, but that is the way things go sometimes and it’s not gone out way today.”
season. After a coming on from the bench in the Owls’ Carabao Cup win over Walsall, Windass was named in the starting XI for the trip to Cardiff on the opening day of the Championship season. And the ex-Wigan man made a terrific start by firing Wednesday into the lead at The Cardiff City Stadium after just four minutes. The forward extended his impressive start by scoring his second goal of the season next time out in the 2-0 cup win over Rochdale at The Crown Oil Arena. September’s swfc.co.uk vote was mighty close, with Windass just pipping Massimo Luongo to the award.
Patient Blades land new record signing
United have again smashed the club’s record transfer fee to secure the services of the soughtafter striker, patiently fighting off competition from Premier League rivals in the process. Brewster has penned a five-year deal at Bramall Lane, with United agreeing a substantial, undisclosed fee with Liverpool for the services of the England U21 international and it’s a piece of business that has left Chris Wilder delighted. The boss remarked: “At the top of the pitch we have one of the country’s hottest properties from Liverpool and for him to sign permanent here is fantastic for everyone concerned. There has been a lot of interest in him over the summer, a lot of speculation about who we were going for, but he has been our number one target and I am delighted to have secured his services “If you look at the signings we have made throughout the summer, it bodes well for the future of the football club. He’s a talent, as are a lot of the younger players we have brought in, whether that’s Oli Burke, Max Lowe, Jayden Bogle or Aaron Ramsdale, they are the profiles of the players we wanted to bring in during the summer, and we’re delighted we have done it. “He’s a natural goalscorer. He finishes from any aspect, whether it is in the air or whether it’s spectacular goals, free-kicks or off his shin - he has a lovely habit of scoring goals, which is crucial in the Premier League.” The 20-year-old marksman is also happy to have committed his long-term future to United: “It feels good to be here and I just can’t wait to get started to be honest. There were a few teams who came in but right now Sheffield United is the best option for me. Looking at the club, it is on the rise, finishing ninth last year and hopefully it can be better this season. Maybe I can add some goals, I’ll work hard and try and help the team to a higher place this year. “It was good for me (last season at Swansea). I felt I needed game time, and I scored 11 goals in 22 which was great for me. I am not going to dwell on that though, this is a new season, and I want to come in here and show what I can do, and score goals for Sheffield United. “I am ready to come in and show everyone what I’ve got. It is a team that creates a lot of chances,
the three at the back, overlapping, they get crosses into the box and that’s my game - being in the box, finding space and one and two touch finishes. That’s what I am going to try and do, and try and score goals for Sheffield United.” Of the finer details of the deal to bring Brewster to Bramall Lane, chief executive, Stephen Bettis, explained: “From an attacking perspective, Rhian has been the management team’s top target throughout the off season and the board is delighted to be able to deliver. It has taken time, the level of outlay is unprecedented at Bramall Lane but we’ve finally got our man. “Rhian fits in with the philosophy of the club signing young, hungry prospects that is giving us a good foundation for the future, strengthening the areas Chris and the recruitment team highlighted. The fact that we are doing business with the Premier League champions over one of their hottest prospects is a sign of how far we have progressed in a relatively short space of time. “He is the seventh signing of the summer which emphasises the support Chris and the management team have had from the owner and the board. “The signings and the increased contracts for a number of individuals, combined with the fact that we have held off advances for our players, signify significant investment in the team, within the region of £120m net transfer spending since our return to the Premier League.” Brewster joined Chelsea at the age of just seven following interest from a number of clubs in the capital and spent seven years at Stamford Bridge before moving to Liverpool in 2015. The forward hit the ground running for the Reds, scoring on his debut for the U23s against Ipswich Town. In October 2016, Brewster caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp and was promoted to the first team, making the Reds’ matchday squad for the first time for the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace in April 2017. In June 2018, the Chadwell Heath-born striker penned a five-year professional contract at Anfield and was an unused substitute in the semi-final second-leg and final of final Liverpool’s Champions League success, collecting a winner’s medal following the 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid. Last term, Brewster made three cup appearances for the Reds, before joining Swansea City in early January. And it was during his time at the Liberty Stadium that his form really caught the eye, as he netted 11 times in 22 appearances for the Swans, including a goal in the second-leg of the play-offs against Brentford.

Darren Moore felt his side were made to pay for missed opportunities in the defeat to Wigan in Sky Bet League One. Rovers had several chances to go in front at the DW Stadium, before Joe Garner’s second-half header sealed all three points for the home side. He said: “The main reason we lost the game was the chances we missed, we felt the game should have been out of sight at half time. “The team know that we should have been in front at the break and we’ve spoken about being more ruthless. “We created plenty of chances and had enough of them to be going home with all three points in the bag.” The loss was Rovers’ first of the league campaign, and Moore wants his players to learn from it going forward. He added: “We don’t want to lose any game and we’re always disappointed with the goals we concede but we can’t look back now. “My main message to the boys is that we learn from this, and we make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again.”
Reece James believes Rovers did more than enough to take something from the game after being beaten by Wigan Athletic in Sky Bet League One. Joe Garner’s goal was the difference between the two sides but James says Rovers created enough to earn a result. He said: “It was a frustrating one for us, first half we should have got ourselves in front which would have made it a different game. “We’ve paid the price for lacking that cutting edge, our play was really good up until the finish and that needs to be worked on. “You look at Wigan’s team and a lot of them are still of Championship quality, it was a good test to come here and we felt we more than matched them.” James has been part of a back four that have established themselves as one of the best in the division in recent times, and he says they will look into the goal conceded and how they can improve on it. He added: “There were a few mistakes leading up to the goal which is disappointing but something we will look back on and find out why it happened. “We’re confident as a unit that we can keep teams out, we’ve played together for a while now and have that understanding.”

We’re disappointed but a draw was a fair result - Warne Rotherham United boss Paul Warne admitted that he felt a draw against Huddersfield Town was a fair overall reflection of the Sky Bet Championship clash at AESSEAL New York Stadium, but conceded that it was a tough pill to swallow to see Angus MacDonald turn the ball into his own goal. The Millers took a first half lead through a stunning low drive from Ben Wiles and had spells of dominance during the opening period but the Terriers grew into the game and reaped the rewards of some late pressure with a fortunate equaliser in stoppage time. Speaking following the all-Yorkshire affair in Rotherham, Warne praised his side’s effort in a game which saw them ultimately unlucky not to record all three points. “The lads gave me absolutely everything,” he explained. “Out of possession I thought we worked really, really hard against a good Huddersfield team. “I think it is the biggest test we’ve had since the start of this season. I thought they were really good, really athletic, they pressed us and caused us all sorts of problems. “To go in 1-0 up at half-time - although my goalkeeper didn’t have a save to make - we were pretty pleased.
“After that it was just wave upon wave of pressure and when we did have an opportunity to break we just didn’t pick the final pass. I think we had many opportunities where we could have got a second goal but they fizzed out really.” It was young midfielder Wiles who broke the deadlock and in spectacular style too, firing home from 30 yards leaving Ben Hamer with no chance in the Huddersfield goal and Warne was quick to praise the Rawmarsh operator for his contribution. “It was a great goal from Wilesy,” he added. “We said to them at half-time that we just needed to play with a bit more confidence in the second half because I didn’t think we were as confident on the ball as we have been but that was in fairness due to Huddersfield’s pressure – they don’t give you a minute’s peace. The Millers were without key man Chiedozie Ogbene for the game on Saturday with the first team boss revealing the pacy winger is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in training. “In training he tried to turn a ball around the corner and his knee locked. He went and had a scan and he’s seeing a specialist on Tuesday in London and it looks like it’s going to be surgical repair, which means it looks like its going to be six or seven weeks. “Luckily if there is a silver lining there are two international breaks so we’ll probably only miss him for five or six games. “You’re always going to miss your best players, especially in this league and we’re definitely going to miss him. We missed him today because he gets us up the pitch and I think he’d have kept Toffolo pinned back because at the end there he was the one causing us all of the problems.”
