PROTEST EXPECTED AFTER COMIC’S SHOW IS CANCELLED we bring the store to your door! A protest is expected to take place at Sheffield City Hall after Roy “Chubby” Brown’s show was cancelled following complaints of the nature of the comic’s material. The comedian - whose real name is Royston Vasey was planned to perform in the city on January 22. But the show has since been removed from the City Hall’s calendar after the comic’s material does not “reflect Sheffield City Trust values”. Announcing the decision to cancel the gig, Sheffield City Trust’s chief executive, Andrew Snelling, said: “As

our entertainment venues reopen following lockdown restrictions, we have been reviewing our programme of events. “We have decided to remove the rescheduled show by comedian Roy Chubby Brown at Sheffield City Hall. “We understand that some people will be disappointed with our decision but we must uphold the standards and values that we promote and expect across our venues.” Following the decision to cancel the gig, more than 23,000 people have signed a petition objecting to the

cancellation. On September 10, a protest is said to take place outside Sheffield City Hall in objection to the decision. Haley Madden, who set up the petition, posted details of the protest online. She said: “On the 10th September at 10am, I have been informed of a protest commencing outside the Sheffield City Hall. “I will also be in attendance with the organisers too. “Anyone who is able to attend are more than welcome to come along too, the more Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown fans the merrier. “The organisers and myself

hope to see you there, let’s do this for Chubby.” The comedian also took to social media to express his disappointment in the show being cancelled. He wrote on Facebook: “At first I had a sense of anger and disbelief but on reflection I now feel just disappointment and sadness with the decision and the way things are going generally. “For the people in trusts/ councils who make these decisions, all I can say is that you were voted into your positions by your local communities to act on the people’s behalf and with

their best interests at heart, not to use your position to force your own private views/opinions and decide what people can and can’t do or can and can’t watch. “Surely that is for the people to decide that vote you in.” While many objected to the gig being cancelled, others welcomed the decision. Labour MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, Gill Furniss, tweeted: “I have written to the Sheffield City Trust CEO and Leader of Sheffield Council, to welcome the decision to cancel the Roy Chubby Brown performance at City Hall.”

SNODGRASS I asked my wife to rate my listening skills and she said, “You’re an 8 on a scale of 10.” Really don’t understand why she told me to urinate on a skeleton. When I was a kid, my parents would always say, “Excuse my French” after a swear word... I’ll never forget my first day at school when the teacher asked did I know any French. What’s it like living in North Korea? Cant complain. My bank recently called me to let me know I had an outstanding balance. I said: “Thanks I used to do gymnastics” and hung up the phone. That was nice of them to say. Today I had someone knock on my door asking for small donations towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water. What time does Sean Connery go to Wimbledon? Tennish. I accidentally handed my wife a glue stick instead of a chapstick. She still isn’t talking to me.

council bids for grant from travel fund blood donors urged South Yorkshire’s Mayoral Combined Authority, supported by Sheffield City Council, has submitted a Countywide bid for over £11.5m from the Department for Transport’s Active Travel Fund. Sheffield is aiming to receive a £3.5m share of this fund, to further transform the city’s transport network and encourage sustainable travel, as demonstrated through the Connecting Sheffield programme. This bid follows the success of a previous application to the Active Travel Fund in November 2020 in which the Sheffield City Region MCA was awarded £5.46million for active travel schemes. We are in the process of delivering these schemes, including two Active Neighbourhoods in Crookes and Nether Edge, the Sheaf Valley Cycle Route and the City Centre Bike Hub. If successful, the funding will help to deliver the next phase of the Council’s vision to transform travel in Sheffield and make it possible for more people to choose sustainable transport options. It will improve walking and cycling routes across the City and enhance existing routes, encouraging people to leave their cars at home, reduce carbon emissions and promote healthier lifestyles. The Active Travel Fund bid in Sheffield will focus on the following schemes: Attercliffe to Advanced Manufacturing Park Cycle Route – A scheme to improve the cycle network in the east end of the city, benefitting the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District and connecting surrounding communities to employment opportunities deep in the Attercliffe area and City Centre by utilising existing travel routes. East Bank Road Cycle Route – This will see a new cycle route on East Bank Road connecting the communities of Heeley, Arbourthorne and Gleadless Valley, linking to the proposed Sheaf Valley Cycle Route. Recreational Crossings – Sheffield is renowned for its fantastic green and woodland spaces. The pandemic has demonstrated just how important these are for mental wellbeing, physical health, alongside providing environmental benefits too. Crossing busy roads in the vicinity of these spaces is often a barrier to people using them, and this proposal aims to enhance accessibility by providing better crossing facilities. Crossings are therefore proposed on Abbey Lane for Ecclesall Woods, and Crookes Valley Road to link Crookes

Valley Park, the Ponderosa and Weston Park. The proposed schemes will be subject to public consultation, and the feedback received will help to inform the development of the routes identified. However, the programme will not just focus on the physical infrastructure required to travel sustainably but will also include the wrap around support to businesses, residents and schools through behavioural change campaigns, such as cycle campaigns, events and training programmes. A series of bike hire and business grants to help the transition to more non-motorised travel is also proposed, building on the success of previous cycling schemes delivered in the city via the Sustainable Travel Access Fund, the successful E-Cargo bikes project and the Capability Fund programme. Councillor Douglas Johnson said “This is a really exciting time in our Connecting Sheffield programme and the submission of this funding application marks the next phase of our vision for creating a truly sustainable and accessible travel network for our residents and businesses. We fully recognise that we are facing a climate emergency and that we need to strengthen our economic and social foundations in the short and long term. Our successful future will depend on investment in a safe, high-quality network for walking and cycling to ensure that our economic recovery is both sustainable and inclusive, aligned to our commitments to carbon reduction, promoting healthier lifestyles and the levelling up agenda. This may be cycling or walking to work or leisure and recreation, but it is these Active Travel schemes that will support our communities to flourish and ensure that inclusive mobility is seamlessly integrated into our daily lives. It’s hugely important for our city as it takes the next steps forward into its future, and I am hopeful that the application will be successful. I am particularly pleased with the schemes to make access to nature safer at Ecclesall Woods and for the safety of new and returning students on the busy Crookes Valley Road.”

All tenants are being reminded that it is a condition of their tenancy that they must not part with possession or sublet their property and, that if they do this, they are breaking the law. On the 18th August 2021 at Sheffield Magistrates Court, the Council prosecuted Mr. Levi Soetan for unlawfully subletting his council tenancy at 199 Exeter Drive, Sheffield S3 7UD where he’s been a tenant for a number of years. The property, a 2 bedroom flat on the 9th floor of a multi storey block, was advertised by Mr. Soetan on various websites, including Airbnb and Booking.com, as ‘Igloo TowerView City Apartment with Free Parking’. In response to the listing on the Airbnb website, an Australian couple, who had travelled to Sheffield to study, rented the flat from Mr. Soetan and he charged them £330 per week between 8th October 2019 and the 21st January 2020. Mr. Soetan made a profit of nearly £5,000 by unlawfully subletting the council flat whilst living outside of the city. In court, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a Community Order requiring him to perform 150 hours unpaid work. He was made the subject of an unlawful profit order requiring him to repay the profit of £4998.24 and was additionally ordered to pay court costs of £250. Mr. Soetan will be served notice to quit the tenancy and excluded from future rehousing with Sheffield City Council. Councillor Paul Wood, Executive Member for Housing, Roads and Waste Management at Sheffield City Council said: “With the number of

council homes that we have in Sheffield, which isn’t enough, we work hard to make sure that we allocate council housing as fairly as possible to those most in need of a home. When we see examples like this one we prosecute so that people are more likely to think twice before using a council house for personal gain. That’s not what council housing is for. It’s there to house those who need it. I would like to thank the councils officers for their prompt action in getting this case sorted.” What is unlawful subletting Unlawful subletting is when a tenant lets out their council home without the knowledge or permission of their local authority. Subletting a council tenancy is in breach of the Council’s Conditions of Tenancy and is a criminal offence covered by The Prevention of Social Housing Fraud Act 2013. Those found guilty of unlawfully subletting a Council tenancy can expect to have any profits taken from them. In the most serious cases, offenders can be sent to prison. Sheffield City Council has a zero tolerance of this offence and anyone found guilty will be excluded from the Council’s rehousing registration list. If anyone has any information about a council tenancy that may be being sublet, please contact Sheffield City Council call centre on 0114 2734567. All information given will be dealt with in confidence by our Housing Fraud Enforcement Officers.

to make switch

Donors in Sheffield and the surrounding areas are being urged to make the switch from whole blood to platelets this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, as a new campaign by NHS Blood and Transplant throughout September launches to raise awareness of the importance of platelet donation in lifesaving cancer care. Platelets are cells within the blood that are crucial for patients with blood cancers, such as leukaemia, and a range of illnesses and accidents. Whole blood donors often graduate into platelets donation, particularly men because of their tendency to have bigger arm veins. Yet there is a lack of knowledge amongst whole blood donors surrounding this type of donation and the patient care it is used for. Nearly 70% of platelet donations are used to help people with cancer. The new campaign by NHS Blood and Transplant aims to tackle this gap in knowledge by publishing a series of explainer videos which will show how platelet donation works. These will highlight the benefits and need for platelet donations, to encourage people to have a go at a switch when booking their next appointment. One platelet donation can help up to twelve children with cancer. Two-year-old Evie Marshall, from Shoreham by the Sea, West Sussex, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma a year ago. Evie had eight rounds of chemotherapy, each time accompanied by nine platelet transfusions, which helped save her life: Mum Kelly explains: “It’s something we never thought would happen to us – childhood cancer; as a child Evie hasn’t carried the worries that we as parents or her brother Harry have had – it’s been a tough year for us all in different ways.Platelets helped give Evie a fighting chance. Each time she received the transfusions the colour would come back to her face immediately; her energy levels would dramatically increase, and she responded better to treatment. We’ll always worry but Evie is at the end of her treatment now and is doing well. As a family we did not realise the importance of this type of donation. People who are donating platelets are making a massive difference and saving lives and we are incredibly grateful.” Across England there are currently 10,400 active platelet donors, with 486 in Sheffield. Alison Whitcombe made the switch from whole blood to platelet donations in 2016.

She explains: “I decided to switch to giving platelets because I felt I was in a position to help. As part of my career as nurse I take care of patients with haematological cancers. I’m very aware that each platelets pack has a donor who has generously donated on the other side.” Alison, who donates at Nottingham Donor Centre, added: “The team at the donor centre are brilliant. They are a nice bunch of people and, having donated a few times now, there is a sense of familiarity. Donating is easy. You get a bit of ‘me-time’, some biscuits and drinks throughout. It is a personal choice but for me it was the most rewarding and right switch to make, and I feel amazing knowing that I’m possibly saving the lives of children with cancer.” Bev Caldwell, Components Donations Support Manager said: “It is very easy to switch from whole blood to platelet donation. The donation does take longer but it’s a very rewarding way for regular donors to give more often. “This September we are urging whole blood donors to make the switch and help keep platelet care for cancer and other illnesses going.” There is a particular need for more platelet donors with A negative, AB negative and A positive blood types. Platelets from donors with these blood types are safe to give to almost everyone, as they meet the needs of the majority of people needing platelet transfusion. Platelets shelf life lasts only 7 days, and as we get older, we are less able to donate so there is a constant need for more platelet donors. To register your interest in giving platelets speak to a member of staff at your next donation or please visit https://platelets.blood. co.uk/. Daytime, evening, and weekend appointments are available. The local donation centre in Sheffield is Cathedral Court, 22-24 Church Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S1 2GN.

CROOKES SOCIAL HOSTS THE SUBWAYS

Throughout September 2021, The Subways will be embarking on the remainder of their rescheduled Young For Eternity Tour dates including a newly announced show at Crookes Social this Friday (10/9). Formed in 2002, by now The Subways should need no introduction. Nearly 20 years into their career the band have had multiple chart-worthy album releases including Young For Eternity (2005), All Or Nothing (2008), Money And Celebrity (2011), and The Subways (2015), spawning a slew of hit singles including ‘Rock & Roll Queen’, ‘Oh Yeah’, ‘Girls & Boys’ and ‘We Don’t Need Money To Have A Good Time’. They have toured with AC/DC, Foo Fighters, and Oasis, appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and graced the festival main-stages of Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza, Download, Soundwave, Hurricane & Southside, Rock Im Park, Rock Am Ring and many more. The band have worked with Nirvana and Garbage super-producer Butch Vig, as well as Blur and The Smith’s mastermind Stephen Street, and the

band have appeared in several major films and videogames including Guy Ritchie’s Rock’N’Rolla, American smash-hit TV drama The OC, and Colin McCrae: DiRT 2, Saint’s Row 2, Fifa Street 2, Forza Horizon. The first track to be taken from their recently-completed forthcoming new album, latest single ‘Fight’ is The Subways’ first release without long-time drummer and founding member Josh Morgan, who announced his departure from the band in October 2020, shortly after studio sessions were completed. Produced by Lunn and mixed by Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, New Order), ‘Fight’ is a precursor to the sonic texture of the new album, without giving too much away too early. In the advent of COVID, Lunn is producing and mixing bands in his Welwyn Garden City-based recording studio (with social-distancing measures in place) until touring resumes. ‘Fight’ picked up a triumphant wave of support, with NME, CLASH Magazine, Steve Lamacq at BBC 6music, Gay Times, Broadway World, and more all championing the band’s long-awaited return, and demonstrating a renewed

appetite for the band’s forthcoming fifth studio effort. The Subways’ hit single ‘Rock & Roll Queen’ also recently appeared in Ladbrokes’ European Championship TV advert, partnering with #WeMakeEvents to light up music venues in red and lend support to the live entertainment industry. These will also be the first live shows with new drummer Camille Philips, who has toured extensively throughout

the UK, Europe, and America with her punk band The Ramonas. Camille was asked to join the band shortly after they’d completed recording duties for the new album. Camille’s hard-hitting background in punk makes her a perfect fit for The Subways, who love to tear up the stage with every live performance. Tickets for The Subways Crookes Social show this Friday are available from www.gigantic.com

NEW DEAL FOR EXCITING YOUNG BLADE MOORE: TIME TO WORK! Exciting youngster Iliman Ndiaye has penned a new deal with the Blades. The 21-year-old forward has agreed a deal which will extend his stay at Bramall Lane until 2024. United’s chief executive officer, Stephen Bettis, comments: “The whole club sees Iliman as a very exciting prospect and we have worked hard to ensure he has committed his future to the club. “We hope that now the deal is signed, he concentrates fully on working hard on his game to ensure he reaches the heights that all inside the club believe he is capable of.” The Frenchman has made an electric start to

the new U23 campaign bagging two goals in his first appearance as United’s youngsters recently defeated Charlton Athletic. Ndiaye made his senior debut for the club last season after appearing as a substitute in the Premier League defeat at Leicester City. He earned a second senior appearance for the Blades during the current campaign after coming off the bench in the recent success against Derby County in the Carabao Cup. After beginning his youth career in France, Ndiaye arrived in England where he came onto United’s radar at non-league Boreham Wood, signing

for United 2019 following a successful trial. Ndiaye, who enjoyed a short loan at Hyde United in 2020 and was last season’s top scorer for United’s U23s, said: “I’m very happy the deal is done, my family are proud of me, and it is an exciting time. I’ve worked hard to get to this point but have been helped by everyone in the Academy, but especially Paul Heckingbottom and Jack Lester and I must thank them. “The game against Derby in the cup was the first time I’ve played in front of the fans at Bramall Lane in a senior game and I am looking forward to playing more.”

Blades boss Slaviša Jokanović has furthered strengthen his attacking options with a deadline day arrival. Exciting Wolves ace Morgan Gibbs-White is the next player to sign in at Bramall Lane after agreeing a loan until the end of the 2021/22 season. The England U21 international joins the

Blades after making over 80 senior appearances for Wolves, 46 of which have been made in the Premier League. The 21year-old made his senior bow aged just 16 in 2016 and helped Wolves to promotion from the Championship back in 2018. During his time at Molineux, he has also appeared for the club in the Europa League.

Last season he joined fellow Championship club Swansea City on loan. This season he has made two appearances as a sub in the Premier League and was a goalscorer in Wolves’ 4-0 League Cup success against Nottingham Forest. Gibbs-White was also a member of England’s U17 World Cup winning squad

back in 2018, alongside current Blade Rhian Brewster. Speaking after completing the paperwork on Tuesday evening, Morgan commented: “I’m delighted to be in the doors, all signed up and ready to get started. Coming here is a good opportunity to get game time and help the Blades

get back to winning ways. I’ve watched the club, the style of play intrigued me and I’m here to get involved. “I’m looking forward to play for the new manager, his reputation and record speaks for itself at this level.” He joins Ben Davies and Conor Hourihane as new arrivals at Bramall Lane this summer.

The Owls are pleased to announce the permanent signing of international forward Saido Berahino. The 28-year-old moves to S6 from Belgian top flight side Zulte Waregem, becoming

the Owls’ 14th signing of the summer transfer window. Berahino began his career at West Brom, with his first taste of senior football coming during a loan spell with Northampton in 2011/12 when he scored 10 goals in 23 appearances. The striker enjoyed further loan spells with Brentford and Peterborough before returning to establish himself as a first team regular with the Baggies. He made over 100 appearances,

To say the Owls had a busy summer transfer window would be somewhat of an understatement. The signing of striker Saido Berahino on deadline day capped an eventful period of change at the club. Darren Moore is delighted with the business Wednesday have been able to complete from the opening of the window in July right through until the last day of August. The fresh faces in the squad have hit the ground running and the Owls can reflect on a positive first month of the season. In terms of the next stages now, with the window slammed shut,

the manager is keen to get the work into the squad to build those relationships on the pitch. “I’m very pleased in terms of the work that we’ve done,” Moore said. “Now we need to settle everyone down and get some work done really. We need to build that understanding and consistency and that’s why I’m so pleased to have the opportunity this week and next week to work. “It has been a rebuild here, let’s make no mistake about it in terms of the players we have brought in.” A fixture-free weekend due to international callups will provide the gaffer with that extra time on the training pitches.

Wednesday are next in action a week on Saturday at Plymouth, where the team will be backed by a capacity following of 1,700. The boss added: “Given the volume of players we have brought it, it is a complete rebuild. “We want to build a team that has got balance to it which I feel we have done and now it’s just settling them down and getting the work done. “We need that time to get the players blending as a unit, the whole team, player-to-player combinations and as long as we keep working how we are and giving the commitment and endeavour, then we can always work with that.”

mainly in the Premier League, and became a feature in England’s youth set-up from the Under-16s through to the Under-21s. Berahino went on to pledge his international allegience to Berundi,

making his debut for the African nation in 2018, posting 15 appearances to date. A big money move to Stoke followed in 2017 where he spent two years before switching to Belgium.

spent last season on loan with fellow top tier side Charleroi. Berahino has previously worked with Owls boss Darren Moore at West Brom and now joins Wednesday on transfer deadline day.

INTERNATIONAL KEEPER SIGNS The Blades have added an experienced goalkeeper to the squad after another deadline day arrival. Following Aaron Ramsdale’s departure to Arsenal, United have filled the void by securing the services of established international stopper Robin Olsen, who joins on a season-long loan from Italian giants AS Roma. The paperwork was completed late on Tuesday The Sweden international returns to England after a loan spell in the Premier League with Everton last season where he made 11 appearances in all competitions. The 31-year-old began his career in his native Sweden with IF Limhamn Bunkeflo, Bunkeflo FF and IFK Klagshamn before securing a move to Malmo in 2012 where he won two league titles and a domestic cup. He moved to Greece in 2015 to sign for PAOK but it would be a brief stay after turning an initial loan move to FC Copenhagen in Denmark into a permanent one in 2016. During his time in Denmark, he won two Danish league titles and two domestic cups and would attract interest from Italian giants AS Roma. He moved to Italy for a reported fee of €12,000,000 in 2018 and he made 35 appearances in all competitions during his first season before joining fellow Serie A side Cagliari on a season-long loan in 2019. On the international stage, Olsen has picked up 48 caps for Sweden and was part of the Sweden squad in Euro 2016, before becoming their number one for the World Cup in 2018 and he also recently starred at Euro 2020, establishing himself as Sweden’s undisputed number one ‘keeper. He is in the squad for their September internationals.

Bailey PeacockFarrell is OWLS Player of the Month! Bailey Peacock-Farrell has been voted as our official swfc.co.uk August Player of the Month! The 24-year-old has featured six times for us since joining on a season-long loan from Premier League side Burnley. And the Owls goalkeeper has started the campaign in outstanding form with five clean sheets from six games. Amongst the highlights in August was Peacock-Farrell’s starring role in our 2-0 win at Rotherham, when the shot-stopper produced an incredible penalty save in first half stoppage time to send us in at the break level. Currently away on international duty with Northern Ireland, he is replicating club form for his country and made another superb penalty save in a World Cup qualifying victory against Lithuania. Peacock-Farrell scooped the August award with 55% per cent of the fans’ vote.

Joe Dodoo put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Rovers citing playing style as a main motivation for joining the club. The 6ft striker enjoyed some success at Wigan Athletic last season but says he’s looking for a club to call home so he can play his best football. “It feels good to be here,” he said. “I’ve always admired the way Doncaster Rovers play. I spoke to the manager and the club has ambition so I’m happy to be part of it.

Cook reflects on August for ROVERS U18s Academy manager Tony Cook has been impressed by the work of Rovers’ U18s coaching staff and players. Former Rovers forward Gary McSheffrey replaced Paul Stancliffe as U18s manager this summer, and Cook has been impressed by the 39-year-old’s work to date. He said: “I’m pleased with how Gary’s been working and his professionalism in terms of his attitude towards how he communicates to the players and his desire for them to better every day. He really pushes them to improve. “From his perspective he’s been happy with how he has been challenged and how he has set high standards on and off the pitch. “Head of Academy sports science Dan Solts has set a really good programme this year and his attention to detail in the reports he’s given back to us is second to none. “Luke Gray has just come in as Head of the Academy medical department and added another angle to that department. He is very professional and methodical in everything he does. “Matt our analyst who looks at the opposition and helps with training. “Gary determines everything he wants from the team and they work collaboratively throughout the week.”

MILLERS International weekend round-up The weekend just passed may have provided a number of Paul Warne’s players and staff with the opportunity to recharge the batteries ahead of a return to action, but that wasn’t the case for a trio of players who have been away with their nations and involved in recent international fixtures. It was a particularly enjoyable weekend for Northern Ireland’s Shane Ferguson who not only appeared off the bench to make his 50th cap for his country, but also marked the occasion with a thunderbolt of a goal – which is well worth the watch on social media if you find five minutes! It was that strike which proved the difference in Northern Ireland’s clash with Estonia, as Ian Baraclough’s men ran out 1-0 winners in Tallinn in the World Cup Qualifier. Wes Harding and his Jamaican teammates endured

“The manager wants to play football, he wants to win. He wants to make sure the club do good things, so the ambition of the club and the style of play is what brought me here.” Dodoo came through the ranks at Leicester City, playing and training alongside Richie Wellens as a young professional, and he believes that bond will help him hit the ground running at Rovers. “I was at Leicester with the manager so we know each other quite well. When the opportunity came for me to join here, things happened quite quickly,” he added. “Speaking to the manager just makes me want to be part of things and it makes it quite easy to collaborate together. “Every player wants to settle down and find somewhere that they can play their best football. Signing a two-year deal shows that I want to be here and do well for the club. I’m looking forward to it.” During the month of August the U18s won two and lost two of their opening games across all competitions. Cook has been impressed by the start given the pre-season disruption due to players having to isolate in accordance with Government and EFL regulations around COVID-19. He added: “Results have been up and down but I’m not too concerned about that when you look at the two defeats we have had in context. Against Bolton we had a few U16s and a couple of second years starting. “We will be making sure development vs winning is married up. Our mantra this year is to spend more time with the individual player, which we have started to do with mentor groups. Each player in the U18s is assigned a full-time mentor from our coaching staff. Their mentors can talk about anything with them in confidence from football to their personal lives. But it is there to support their wellbeing.” Academy staff have worked hard during the summer to implement new programmes which are aimed at protecting the wellbeing of the U18 players. He added: “The start of the season has been a little bit indifferent because we’re trying to challenge the team a little bit differently. If they perform well in training then they will get the shirt, we’re not just handing out shirts to second year scholars for the sake of it. They need to work for their place in the team. “We are trying to change the culture and mentality. Be the best you can be and hopefully that will keep your shirt.” a tough afternoon as they faced Panama and found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline. Harding was in good company for the Reggae Boyz, lining up alongside the likes of Michail Antonio, Bobby Reid and Ravel Morrison in the side that started, but, ultimately, were unable to get a result at Independence Park. Meanwhile, Joshua Kayode was a part of an impressive win for the Republic of Ireland U21s, who recorded a convincing 2-0 win over Bosnia as part of their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification campaign. The Academy graduate – as he did in the recent league game against Sheffield Wednesday – won a penalty for his country which was duly converted before Conor Coventry added gloss to the scoreline with a second. Elsewhere, Chiedozie Ogbene was unable to join up with his Republic of Ireland teammates as a result of a hamstring injury. He is, however, back training with the first team group at Roundwood as part of his rehabilitation.
