Sheffield will remember them This November Sheffield will, as always, remember the service and sacrifice of those in our Armed Forces and those who gave their lives for our country. In commemoration various activities will take place throughout the month, including the city’s Poppy Appeal, which will begin on 30 October; a Poppy Laying Service with The Royal British Legion (RBL) Sheffield and a Civic Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Barkers Pool. The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Gail Smith said: “Our Remembrance Day
plans will be announced in full soon – including a Poppy Laying Service and Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph. “I look forward to receiving the first poppy in Sheffield when our Poppy Appeal launches later this month and to seeing many others wearing their poppies with pride. We are working closely with the Royal British Legion, as we do every year, and will ensure there is a fitting tribute to all those who fought so bravely and gave their lives so that we can live ours.” A Royal British Legion spokesperson said: “Sheffield has always been
very supportive of our Poppy Appeal and the city always does itself proud in terms of Remembrance Parades. There will be significant Poppy Appeal activity in Sheffield this year, with the support of the City Council, including street collections, and we are excited to see our Poppy Appeal volunteers returning throughout the city this year after Covid curtailed face-to-face collections in 2020.”
Full details of all Sheffield’s Remembrance activity will be announced soon.

Local stars bringing the magic of panto back to Rotherham Civic Theatre Rotherham Civic Theatre is delighted to announce the return of local star Laura Judge who will be following up her ‘wicked’ performance as Carabosse in 2019 with a starring role in this year’s panto. Laura who plays Spirit of the Ring and Empress, is joined by another local performer, Carragon Guest who will be playing the role of Princess Jasmine. For both actors, the Civic Theatre is the stage upon which they made their acting debuts; Laura aged seven as a singing and dancing Goatherd with Carragon appearing in a dance school show. Both performed at the Theatre numerous times in their youth before going off to train professionally at drama school.
Laura has appeared in many pantomimes throughout the UK and after a disappointing festive season last year due to the pandemic she is looking forward to helping the people of Rotherham make some fantastic memories with their family and friends again this year. Laura said: “Panto is such a huge part of a Christmas - and perhaps this year more than ever, and I can’t wait to bring this spectacular show to the borough. Rotherham audiences are very warm, and really know how to enjoy themselves. They love to get involved - and I love that!” This will be Carragon’s first professional pantomime and she cannot wait to get started, particularly as she is back in her hometown.
“I am thrilled to be back where it all started. I really love the family aspect of pantos and that all ages can find enjoyment in the same show. It is a great opportunity for families to share an experience that they can all enjoy together.” Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Councillor David Sheppard said: “The Civic Theatre panto is always something to look forward to and this year will be no exception. It’s made even more special by the fact we have not one, but two local talents joining this wonderful cast.” “I think Aladdin is so popular because it is about the underdog, a man who doesn’t come from a wealthy background, succeeding and making his dreams come true – a story which will be greatly enjoyed this festive season by residents’ young and old.” Make everyone’s wishes come true and make some fabulous memories with your friends and family by getting your tickets to this genie-us of a show! Aladdin runs from Thursday 2 December 2021 – Sunday 9 January 2022. To book tickets visit www.rotherhamtheatres. co.uk or call 01709 823621.

SNODGRASS I went into a pet shop and asked for twelve bees. The shopkeeper counted out thirteen and handed them over. “You’ve given me one too many.” “That one is a freebie.” What do you call a potato wearing glasses? A spectater. Interviewer: “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” Me: “Listening. Yes I’d say listening is my biggest weakness.” As I put my car in reverse, I thought to myself... “This takes me back.” I’m deathly afraid of elevators. I take a lot of steps to avoid them. A pun walks into a bar, ten people die on the spot. Pun in, ten dead.
On the tour, Shawn will be joined by King Princess in the UK.

why not recycle your old electrical items? combining pensions With 155,000 tonnes of waste electricals being thrown away in the UK, Recycle Your Electricals “HypnoCat”, is on a mission to hypnotise Sheffield residents into recycling their small old electricals. The campaign has been launched to encourage more people to recycle their electrical waste, as small old electricals are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK. Sheffield is one of more than 80 local authorities across the UK to support the campaign. • 155,000 tonnes of waste electricals are being lost through being thrown away in the UK • UK householders are hoarding 527 million small electricals items • There are enough power/charging cables hidden in Sheffield homes to travel from Beighton to Stocksbridge and back 26 times! • Everything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled “HypnoCat’’ the fun character has been designed to hypnotise the nation into recycling their electricals. His rallying calls to local people include ‘Humans of Sheffield, don’t bin them, recycle your electricals’ and will be heard and seen across local media channels and outdoor screens in the city – look out for his reminders and tips on how to recycle electricals. Councillor Paul Wood, Executive Member for Housing , Roads and Waste Management said: “We are keen to promote any opportunity to recycle in Sheffield and this campaign highlights the importance of recycling old electrical items, that a lot of people probably didn’t realise they could. We are proud to have 16 different facilities in Sheffield where electricals can be recycled and I encourage all our households to have a rummage through your cupboards,
check where your nearest facility is and get recycling. You can clear the clutter and be kinder to our environment by getting rid of these materials in the right way, it’s win-win.” Scott Butler, Material Focus, Executive Director, said: “Small old electricals are one of the fastest growing waste streams, and we are throwing away valuable materials that are lost forever. These small old, unwanted electricals contain 75% of materials that can be recycled or reused such as precious materials like gold, silver and copper. HypnoCat our messenger for the campaign will be providing step-by-step information on how to reuse and recycle old electricals. We want everyone to know that all old electricals - that’s everything with a plug, battery or cable - can be recycled. We are delighted to be working with Sheffield and are calling on residents to stop throwing away their old electricals, and instead take them to a local recycling facility.” The Recycle Your Electricals Campaign is making recycling small old electricals easier than ever before by providing an information hub for the UK on how to recycle electricals, and a postcode locator with details of over 3,00 recycling, repair and reuse points across the UK, including Sheffield. Join the campaign with celebrities including the likes of Konnie Huq, Andrea McLean, Zandra Rhodes by sharing pictures, videos and stories of the electricals that you’ve collected in a bag prior to recycling them. Use the hashtag #RecycleYourElectricals or tag us on Facebook @RecycleYourElectricals Twitter @RecycleElectric & Instagram @ RecycleYourElectricals_
council announces HWRC winter opening hours On Friday 1 October, Sheffield’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) changed to their winter opening hours, but with all sites remaining open 7 days a week throughout October. All five sites will be open from 9.30am until 3.30pm, and during October all sites will remain open 7 days a week. Opening hours have been extended in October to minimise disruption and allow residents to dispose of their garden waste ahead of the winter weather. Councillor Paul Wood, Executive Member for Housing, Roads and Waste Management said: “The extended Winter opening hours will mean that all sites remain open 7 days a week making it easier for residents to dispose of their household waste during October, when they still have a fair amount of garden waste as gardens are tidied ready for winter, and many people are doing those last bits of DIY. It’s really important that people refrain from burning garden and other waste at home, because it releases harmful pollution into our air, that particularly affects young people and those with breathing issues such as

asthma. Everyone is entitled to clean air and we must all do our bit to support this. Burning waste in residential areas can be a real nuisance, especially with so many people still working from home, unable to hang out their washing or even just open a window to make sure they have that all important ventilation that helps prevent the spread of Covid. The extension of 7 days opening across all sites will also support garden waste disposal should we experience further disruptions to the green bin collection service caused by the impact of Covid on the Veolia workforce. We ask people using the HWRC sites to be patient during busy periods and to respect our staff at all times.” Sites accept a wide range of household waste for recycling, including textiles, glass bottles and jars, wood, scrap metal, batteries, garden waste, electrical appliances and even engine and cooking oil. Top tips to remember when visiting your local Recycling Centre: • Household Waste Recycling Centres can become very busy over weekends; please be patient if visiting during peak times. • Do not queue outside the sites, this is a potential danger for other road users. Drivers found queuing will initially be asked to move on. Failure to do so could result in a £70 fine. • Only waste from your own place of residence in Sheffield can be accepted. • Residents with significant volumes of DIY waste and garden waste may wish to consider contacting a registered skip hire company. There’s a lot to be said for being organised and having everything in one place. But when it comes to your retirement savings – that’s not always the case. Typically, you save for retirement by paying into a pension through your job. But most of us don’t stay with the same employer throughout our career. We move to new companies and pay into new pensions. May 2021 research by Aegon estimates 6.4 million of us aged between 22 and 65 have lost or misplaced some of our retirement savings. And when it comes to bringing your retirement plans to the boil, that could add up to quite a few missing ingredients. Should I combine my pensions? This is a really good question to think about and the answer is – it depends. There are some good reasons why you might want to think about doing it, and other reasons why it might not be a good idea to consolidate pensions. You could save money. Always a bonus, especially when every penny gained could boost your lifestyle in retirement. If you have lots of different pension pots, you’re probably paying charges for each one of them. Older pensions tend to have higher costs than they do today. So bringing them together, and paying one fee, could be a worthwhile cost saving. Combining pensions makes it easier to build a picture of your retirement plans. When you take the plunge, you’ll need your pension savings to help fund your lifestyle in retirement. So it’s really important to know if you’re building up enough money. And how much income you’re likely to be able to take from it.If you’ve got different pots here, there and everywhere, working out where you stand is going to be harder. What about the reasons not to consolidate your pensions? Some of your pensions might have financial penalties for combining. Probably buried somewhere in the small print. If there are penalties for moving out of an old pension, but it’s not doing much for your future, it might still be worth taking that hit. But do look before you leap. Your older pensions might also offer valuable guarantees that would be a real shame to miss out on. For example, if you have a defined benefit or final salary scheme. There could be some very good reasons to keep your pension pot where it is. But it might not be easy to tell. Especially if it’s an old pension, where you can have easily mislaid some of the paperwork. That’s where the help of an expert financial adviser can support you in making the most of the money you have accumulated. Combining pensions sounds complicated… It is. And it might be tempting to think “I’ll just leave it then”. But consolidating your pensions could offer a significant boost to your retirement finances. And be something you look back on and feel grateful you went through a bit of hassle to look into.

shopping online?
With online shopping having become so firmly ingrained in everyday life, it’s a good idea to stay on top of the latest advice for getting the best deals and avoiding any online shopping scams. Here are some ‘dos and don’ts’ Do go incognito or use a different browser Got your eye on something? Well, doing this could actually bump up the prices. This can sometimes happen when browsing for holidays. To avoid the price hikes, try going incognito on your web browser. Incognito basically means it won’t track your browser history, meaning your browser won’t remember which websites you have visited previously. Do use discount websites While you are shopping online, it’s worth signing up to discount and cashback websites, to make the most of any discounts you can get while looking for your online purchases. Do leave items in your basket If you’re signed up to a website you’re buying from and you decide to leave the items in your basket for long enough, you might get lucky and be sent a discount code via email from the retailer. This is a technique that retailers use to ensure that any products added to customer baskets are then purchased. Don’t end up paying for multiple deliveries Make sure you have everything you may want or need from a particular online retailer before shelling out for those pesky delivery costs. Some retailers also offer free delivery if if the total number of purchases adds up to a certain amount. Don’t necessarily buy on the first website you find the item on Make sure you shop around first. Another retailer may sell the same product for a cheaper price, or there may be a similar product which does the same thing for less money. Don’t be fooled by copycats Remember, there are a lot of scam websites, which may look legitimate but are designed to trick you into handing over your money. They may be selling fake goods, or the website might be trying to copy a wellknown brand and the goods may never arrive at all. Information you put into bogus websites may be used to steal your identity.

The President of the CIU urgeS clubs finding themselves in difficulty in the wake of the pandemic to seek expert help from officials
Management (ACM), and it is our intention to drive this forward at the earliest opportunity. “The need to pass all three sections of the course over a three year period has been relaxed, with students being Struggling clubs urged to seek expert help from the CIU. The Union President George Smith speaks at the 2021 Annual Meeting given extra time to achieve the award. “The course is designed to appeal to both new and experienced club management members, with a view to keeping our clubs well managed and thriving in today’s unusual times. “I would recommend all clubs send at least one person to attend the course as they become available in your local area.” Mr Green also warned club officials to ensure that they follow their club rules to the letter when dealing with disciplinary matters. “I make no apology for repeating myself in this speech every year since 2015, but please, please, please follow your club rule book and guidance from ‘500 Points in Club Law’, and carry out disciplinary hearings with members within the rules of your club. “Failure to carry out procedure correctly could lead to your committee made to look, at best, incompetent and, at worst, vindictive. “Please remember you are guardians of your club, and members deserve to be treated fairly, and within club rules and the law. “Failure to act accordingly could lead to accusations of discrimination and bullying which, of course, is against the law.”
Speaking at the157th Annual Meeting of the CIU in Blackpool on September 11, Mr Smith said: “We understand the difficulties facing our clubs at this time with many having to fight against closure or being compelled to cut back on opening hours in order to help overcome financial losses. “We have situations in some of our clubs where a new official, for example a Secretary or Chairperson, is elected or appointed, and they’re not too clear what the job entails. “Help could come from their predecessors in these roles, but if not, then we at Branch level and the NEC are here to help at any time. “I’d like to thank the National Executive Committee for their dedication to our clubs and the Union. There’s a wealth of knowledge there on club life. You should tap into it – you’ll not regret it.” Meanwhile, in his address, Union General Secretary Kenneth D Green CMD ACM announced that the CIU's education programme would be restarting as soon as possible after being suspended during the pandemic. “The education programme is being reintroduced, with two schools planned for this year and a full programme planned for next year,” he said. “The education programme is a top priority for the NEC with a small group of the members being charged with the delivery of the Award in Club The Union President George Smith speaks at the 2021 Annual Meeting

rebranding & revised model prove a roaring success! HUGE charity show returns for fifth year On Friday 19th November at The Dome in Doncaster we are holding the 5th Annual Best Of British Show to raise money for the alzheimers.org.uk charity and cancer charities in S. As always the show is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and fellow artist, Dick Van Winkle. Artists appearing this year are Mick Miller (Star of Car Share, The Comedians and Last Laugh in Vegas) Tom Binns (as Ivan Brackenbury) John Morgan, Mark Ritchie, Will H, Julie A Scott, The Dynamos (Tribute to Abba) and The New Jersey Tones (with their tribute to Franki Valli & The Four Seasons) and the show is hosted by Robert Craig.

Come and support this very worthy event and enjoy a night of music and laughter. Book online at www.dclt.co.uk or contact the box office on 01302 537704 and 01302 370777. All tickets £15.00
When Crookes Club was formed way back in 1919 it was conceived as a safe and friendly place for the working men of the area to enjoy a social drink and feast on the regular entertainment. Crookes Club had an enviable reputation as possibly the best club in the north of England. However, times changed and during the 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s the club started to struggle to maintain its income as membership numbers and audiences dropped. A night watching the turn at a working men’s club started to become unfashionable and the lure of the bright lights of the city centre became a more fashionable option for a night out. In the mid 80’s the club renamed itself as Crookes Social Club, but this change alone did little to turn the tide on the falling numbers. Prior to the lockdown the committee of Crookes Club, led by secretary and General Manager
Maurice Champeau, took the bold step to attempt a further rebranding and the club became known as simply Crookes Club. The intention was to move the main focus of the business from a members only venue to a function and party venue. The pandemic resulted in this rebranding being effectively put on hold but since reopening in May this year the club has gone from strength to strength. General Manager Maurice Champeau said “Our ability to host events and functions for up to 500 people has allowed us to carve our own niche in the Sheffield area, not only are we seeing an increase in weddings and party bookings but our new drive towards live music has increased turnover by over 20% compared to the same period in 2019. Crookes Club have teamed up with several music promoters to attract international acts like Richard Dawson and The
Subways with forthcoming acts including Snapped Ankles, Martin Stephenson, Gruff Rhys, and many others booked to perform at the club. Maurice said, the diary for 2021 is full and for 2022 its filling up fast, our club provides a venue in Sheffield that is perfect for performers wanting to attract audiences of between 100 and 500. In addition to live music the club is also building an enviable reputation for spectator sports and other performances with events booked ranging from wrestling and boxing to theatre performances and pantomimes. In early 2022 Crookes will, for the first time in over one hundred years trading, be hosting a panto specifically for adults with two performances of Saucy Jack the panto. Peter Lonsdale, President said, Maurice has found a way to attract a new a varied customer base to the club and our efforts to
attract new audiences is proving successful. We have however not forgotten our roots and we still have a loyal membership who visit the club regularly to enjoy the weekly entertainment or use the facilities of the club. We seem to have developed a business model that gives our members what they want and that will allow the club to thrive in the coming years.
General at Crookes Club Manager Maurice Champeau

Follow Your Local Team Every Week In The Mercury BLADES PIPPED BY CHERRIES Moore - post-Oxford United’s trip to the soggy south coast ended in defeat, but the Blades certainly deserved at least a point having matched and at times looked like getting the better of leaders Bournemouth. Morgan Gibbs-White netted his third goal since arriving from Wolves, but a disputed penalty converted by Dominic Solanke and a goal from Phillip Billing harshly saw United leave emptyhanded. For the clash against the Cherries, boss Jokanović named an unchanged starting XI despite the loss at Middlesbrough, with the only change to the 18 coming amongst the substitutes, where the fit-again Mousset replaced Norrington-Davies. United were quickly out of the blocks as an attacking force and Osborn forced Travers into a save inside two minutes, before Billing stung the palms of Olsen from distance after Fleck had been carded for halting the progress of Christie. The Swedish stopper was then called into action to comfortably save Lerma’s looping header after Anthony had looped a cross in from the left. Despite the adverse weather, the game remained open and United enjoyed a spell of sustained possession and territory,
BLADES WOMEN UNBEATEN IN FOUR ONLY A SHORT WALK FROM SWFC
forcing a flurry of corners in quick succession, but at the other end, Olsen had to recover quickly having lost possession trying to play out from the back. The Blades were enjoying plenty of success down the left, but Sharp couldn’t hit the target under pressure from Cahill, after Osborn had shown Christie a clean pair of heels. The visitors continued to push and finished the first half positively, but Sharp couldn’t capitilise on a slip from Kelly and fired over, before Davies headed into the ground and wide having wrestled clear of his mark from Norwood’s inviting inswinging corner. Gibbs-White was the last
to have a sight of goal from the edge of the area before the interval but couldn’t test Travers. It was the home side who the first chance after the break, Zemura combined with Billing before squaring to Solanke, but Stevens managed to get a vital block on the ball and then Pearson was cautioned for a cynical tug on Ndiaye as he looked to counter. Unfortunately, Baldock then limped off on his 150th appearance as a Blade and was replaced by Basham. And on 56 minutes, United deservedly took the lead, Sharp showed great composure on the right and picked on GIBBS-WHITE who produced an excellent
sliding finish to power an effort past Travers. But cruelly the lead didn’t last too long, as Stevens was penalised for a foul on the hour, the contact with SOLANKE was outside the area, but referee Jones pointed to the spot after plenty of deliberation and following a length stoppage the former Liverpool striker stroked his penalty into the net. Buoyed by restoring parity against the run of play, the home side seized the advantage with their next meaningful attack as BILLING slid past Olsen after good work by Solanke and Christie on the right of the box. United from that moment pushed the home
side back and McBurnie and Mousset were introduced as they searched for an equaliser, although Zemura should have done much better having linked up with Billing again. The clock was ticking against the Blades and their luck was clearly out as a free kick from Gibbs-White deflected off McBurnie and fell agonisingly wide of the near post. Six minutes of added time were indicated and in the second of those United had a golden opportunity to snatch a deserved share of the spoils, but from Egan’s header across goal, Mousset headed against the bar before McBurnie failed to hit the target with an acrobatic effort.
The Owls were hit by a late winner from Oxford at Hillsborough as the visitors won by the odd goal in three. Here are some of the talking points from Darren Moore’s postmatch media conference.
A BITTER PILL That’s what it is, a bitter pill to swallow and now we have to take our medicine. It hurts in the last minute, you would rather it any other time in the game. We worked hard to get ourselves back in the game and we had all the momentum, the momentum was all Wednesday, so to get hit on the break like that is a bitter pill. But we take it and move on and learn from what went wrong today. THREE-GAME WEEK I’m not using anything as
United Women fought out a 0-0 draw at Hayes Lane in a game of few clear chances for either side to extend their unbeaten run to four games and three clean sheets. It was the Blades who started brightest as Maddy Cusack tested
Emily Orman inside five minutes before Jess Clarke volleyed wide at the back post, but Palace almost went ahead when Coral-Jade Haines saw an effort well saved by Fran Kitching and Milliw Farrow’s follow up cleared away.
The game became a bit stop start with a couple of injury stoppages leading up to half-time, but Orman was again alert to deny Courtney SweetmanKirk while Clarke felt she should have had a penalty in first half stoppage time. Neither side really created

an excuse because we lost a game we wanted to win. But the three-game week is something I’m going to have to analyse with my staff because I wasn’t happy with the way we started the game, whether we had tired minds or we were tired physically. We had a long trip to Ipswich, another away game at Wigan and we play again today. But it’s the same for everyone so it’s part of our programme but something we will analyse as a team. PENALTY CLAIMS I haven’t seen the replays yet but I will do that later and only then can I make a judgement. Patto is adamant he got a push in the back and that is the word of the player. It’s difficult to tell sometimes because that ball can move at 100mph, especially in
conditions like today, but my player says it was a penalty and until I see it myself I can’t make any other comment than that.
GAINING THE MOMENTUM I didn’t think we started with enough energy and we got to half time, jigged things around a bit, and we made much more of a game of it in the second half. I was really pleased when we got the equaliser and from there I thought there was only one winner. We wanted more bodies in the box, we wanted the momentum and we got that so as I say, to lose like we did hurts a lot. I’ve just said to the players that this is the hardest way to lose a game but from a learning perspective, we have to do that.
too many clear chances after the break, Siobhan Wilson the threat for the hosts with a couple of shots from distance, while Clarke was similar for United as she twice cut in from the left and saw efforts flash past the far post. As the game became more and more stretched late on, it looked like someone would steal the points, but the hosts were denied by some brilliant last-ditch defending from a corner in stoppage time, before United broke up field and Lucy Watson saw a low effort go agonisingly past the far post.

Wellens: Fans played huge part in MK Dons victory
Richie Wellens felt Rovers fans played a huge part in his side’s 2-1 win against a high-flying MK Dons team. Tommy Rowe and Tiago Cukur were both on the scoresheet for Rovers as they ended the visitors’ nine game unbeaten run. On the reaction from the Ipswich game: “Everyone at the club has worked hard since Tuesday’s defeat to Ipswich Town. We have been positive and the training sessions have been really good.
WARNE - WE DESREVED THE WIN Paul Warne praised his side for a relatively comprehensive victory against Cheltenham Town at the Jonny Rocks Stadium on Saturday... “I thought we deserved the win. I always want perfection. We were a little sloppy at times but generally our overall play was good. We had about 11 attempts at goal and their ‘keeper kept them in it. “We had some a couple of good efforts early on, but we just needed that goal. I was looking forward to half-time just to re-iterate to the players not to go away from the game plan. That’s always the fear as a manager. “We asked them to get the ball out of the middle of the pitch and get it wide and back yourselves one v one. In the end, we came away with a clean sheet and a two-goal win. “I know they were going to make it difficult for us and they did. I thought they were really well-organised and they caused us problems on the counter attack. I thought if we kept moving the all quickly, we could out power them a little bit. “In the end, we were the better team and deserved winners of the game.”
“MK Dons are a really good team in this division and bringing on proven players of the quality of Mo Eisa shows that. So for us to go head-to-head with them was a big positive. “Our home form is good, we’ve played four and got seven points. “In football you have to have the belief. It is always a work in progress. What I have learnt from Tuesday is that we have a group of players that care. We have a great group of players and staff who really want the best for this football club. “The supporters stuck with us on Saturday even at 1-1, which was brilliant. Our supporters helped us.” On Tiago Cukur getting off the mark and other player performances: “Tiago will grow in confidence from his goal. He’s only 18years-old and has played a lot for us in a short space of time and travelled a lot and that can affect a player. “Ben Close majorly improved from Tuesday night and I thought he was the best player on the pitch and was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet after his chance in the first-half came off the bar. “We deserved the win because of our character. We ground out a performance and that was brilliant for everyone at the football club.”
REG rewarded for rocket and clean sheet with PA Entertainments Man of the Match Rarmani Edmonds-Green has quite rightly come in for praise from both supporters and club staff alike for his recent performances in the Millers’ red and white and has finally got his hands on a PA Entertainments Man of the Match award for his display against Cheltenham Town on Saturday. ‘Reg’ as he has been affectionately coined by boss Paul Warne, once again turned in an assured display belying his tender years at the Jonny Rocks Stadium, which didn’t just include a defensive shutout but also a screamer of a strike at the other end. The Huddersfield Town loanee drilled home a piledriver of an effort on 75 minutes to wrap up the three points for the Millers, who ran out 2-0 victors in the South West at the weekend. His performance was so good that he ran away with the Man of the Match poll on Twitter, securing 65.5% of the 785 votes cast by Millers supporters. Will Grigg – who was also on the scoresheet – was nominated alongside Dan Barlaser and Michael Smith.
