to repel the danger. Seven minutes off added time were signalled following the aforementioned injuries to Tunnicliffe and Hayden and Egan was booked for a foul on Mullin, after Davies had beaten away an earlier effort from the striker.

The Blades made a change at the break with Lowe replacing McAtee, as Osborn moved into midfield. The hosts looked for an equaliser in the opening minutes, Davies parried Young’s initial shot, then saved from Mullin on the rebound before Bogle eventually cleared the danger after a tremendous block by Lowe. But then in the 50th minute Tozer’s long throw wasn’t dealt with and JONES managed to force the ball home from close-range to restore parity. Seconds off after the hour, the home side took the lead as O’CONNOR rattled the ball into the net from a left-wing corner from Young, who had earlier been booked for a foul on Jebbison. But United equalised less than four minutes later, we conceded it in was tough to take and it was tough for the players to get back into the game after that.”

“Conceding after 30 seconds has a huge impact. We all know that goals change games and shift momentum and mentalities and things like that. To concede after 30 seconds away from home was difficult.

“There were a few words spoken at half time and I just asked for a reaction from as NORWOOD kept his composure to fire past Howard at the second attempt after Tozer had blocked his first shot at goal. The tie seemingly swung in favour of the home side when Jebbison was red carded on 71 minutes, following a clash with Tozer that was reported to the referee by the fourth official. Palmer looked to grasp the moment, but thankfully his effort didn’t cross the line having hit the underside of the crossbar with Davies beaten. On 86 minutes, Wrexham looked to have snatched the winner, as MULLIN, started and finished a move, slotting underneath Davies from Dalby’s pass. Bogle was booked as seven minutes of added time were signalled, but the Blades never know when they are beaten and they duly rescued a replay deep into that added time through EGAN, who prodded the ball beyond the dive of Howard from another excellent Doyle corner to the back post. the players. The first half was done and we couldn’t control that any more so what do we do now to impact the second half. We came out all guns blazing and scored a good goal. They responded well for the first 15 minutes of the second half. That’s what I wanted from the start of the game but we didn’t get that. Ultimately the third goal cost us.”

Darren Moore says his side deserved victory against Fleetwood in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round but had to settle for a replay at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday week.

A 1-1 draw played out in S6, with Josh Earl’s own goal cancelling out the opener from Promise Omochere. Wednesday had chances to win the tie but the two teams will do battle for a fourth time this season in the replay.

Moore said: “I thought we dominated the game and we’ve had so much of the ball and the only thing I would say really is our final contact could have been better.

“The two teams know each other very well now and with the replay, that will be the fourth meeting in around six weeks.

“So this was always going to be a tight game but overall I think we had the better of it.

“The target was to be in the fifth round and if that wasn’t the case, make sure we are in the hat for the draw.”

Moore was delighted to welcome skipper Barry Bannan back to duty and also enthused about the performance of Mallik Wilks, who was a constant threat to the Fleetwood backline.

He said: “The plan was to always give Baz around 30 minutes and it’s great to have him back because he’s an important player for us.

“With Mallik, I’m delighted for him because he was a real thorn in their side all afternoon.

“The fans could see what he can bring in that role. His ball control was good, he made some great runs and he gives us another string to our bow.”
