A group that helps older drivers stay safe on our roads is holding three free webinars this month. Hosted by the Older Drivers Forum, the webinars will look at what can be done to address concerns about older drivers, impairment and driver eyesight.
The final webinar is part of an ongoing campaign to highlight the importance of good vision when it comes to road safety and is hosted by Valerie Singleton OBE. It is suitable for all ages.

Concerned about an Older Driver? We can help (11 March (2pm)
This webinar is to provide support for families, friends, and carers who are concerned about an older driver. The webinar includes advice on how to: start empathetic conversations with their loved one, friend or client; keep them driving safely, for longer and plan for when it is time for them to retire from driving.
Are you driving whilst impaired? 13 March (2pm) Impairment, when related to driving, often refers to drink, drugs or a medical condition. However, everyone drives in an impaired fashion from time to time whether it be through tiredness, stress, distraction or simply complacency. This webinar will look at all the factors which may impair our driving decisions and offers solutions to ensure the risk of a road traffic collision is as low as possible.
Is your vision roadworthy? - FOR ALL AGES 14 March (2pm)
This webinar is hosted by Valerie Singleton OBE and will offer the opportunity to find out more about driver vision and the vital role played by good eyesight in reducing risks on the road. The webinar will discuss what the law says and the legal requirements for driving, as well as advice from an optometrist on good eye health and importance of regular eyesight tests and lots more.

The Older Drivers Forum is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to help keep mature motorists on the road safely for longer. The forum offers practical and informative help and support, from wing mirror adapters to an elevated driving seat.
mayor anD local leaDers approve transport projects
South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard and the Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) Board have approved £44m to build new walking and cycling routes, improve bus routes, provide a fleet of new electric buses and to regenerate town and city centres right across the region.
Among the schemes awarded funding today: £24.6m for new cycle lanes and safer walking routes in Rotherham and Sheffield
£6.5m towards the redevelopment of Doncaster Waterfront
£2.5m towards the construction of Barnsley’s landmark Market Gate Bridge
The MCA Board have approved £16m improve walking, cycling and public transport links in Sheffield between Kelham Island, Neepsend and the city centre.
South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard said: “When I was elected last May, I promised to renew South Yorkshire, and make our region healthier, more prosperous and more sustainable. We want our communities to be able to thrive and these projects and schemes will make a real, tangible difference to our future.
Greener, cleaner buses, new and better cycle lanes, regeneration projects in our towns and cities, all these things will help make South Yorkshire a better place to live, work and invest.”
The MCA board also approved money to improve bus journey times and cut road congestion between Maltby and Rotherham and to fund a fleet of new electric buses for community transport groups across the region.
