A wonderful weekend to see flying scotsman in Doncaster
This autumn, Flying Scotsman, the most famous steam locomotive in the world, will be returning to its birthplace of Doncaster for a special centenary visit. Tickets will be made available from Monday 2 October to visit Flying Scotsman on either Saturday 11 November or Sunday 12 November.
Thousands of visitors will get the opportunity to see Flying Scotsman up close, take photos and marvel at the magnificent feat of engineering that was created in Doncaster 100 years ago.
Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, said: “It has always been our ambition to bring Flying Scotsman home to Doncaster as we will always be associated with this iconic locomotive.
“I am delighted that we are giving our residents, along with visitors from far and wide, the chance to see Flying Scotsman as part of a special centenary event. We are a city that has a proud rail heritage, but we are also a city that looks to the future, and we have forged strong partnerships in the transport sector to build on regeneration and growth across Doncaster.
“This event will also be poignant as it takes place over Remembrance weekend. It will be a time to reflect and give thanks for the sacrifices made by service men and women who worked in the rail sector and commemorate their most significant contribution.”
Tickets are free of charge and will be available
from 10am on Monday 2 October at the eventbrite website. Flying Scotsman will be based at Freightliner Railport, Decoy Bank South. There will be no parking available at the site, however there will be a Park & Ride service provided by First Bus that will run every 15 minutes from White Rose Way Park & Ride (by Morrisons) and an additional service will also run from Frenchgate Interchange every 20 minutes. A return ticket will cost £3 for an adult and £2 for a child return ticket. Concessions are not valid on this service.
Peter Mair, Operations Manager at First Bus in Doncaster said: “As there is no parking at the site, we wanted to ensure visitors had the facility to travel to and from the Railport, to join in the celebration and enjoy the occasion without worrying about how they could get to the event. We are expecting the Park & Ride service to be busy, so please allow a little extra time when planning your journey.”
Visit www.doncaster.gov.uk/FlyingScotsman for all the latest information and details.
Freightliner Terminals MD, Nick Matthews commented: “Freightliner is always passionate about supporting the local communities in which our terminals reside. To be part of this special occasion by opening our terminal to host this significant event is a real pleasure, especially as we have many ex-service men and women within our organisation, making this occasion even more special.”
As well as viewing Flying Scotsman, there will also be fun and creative activities and entertainment on show for people of all ages to enjoy.
Events have been taking place across Doncaster as part of Flying Scotsman’s centenary year to celebrate this significant milestone with schools, museums and libraries getting involved. The full programme is available to view at www.dglam.org.uk/whats-on/ flying-scotsman
Flying Scotsman is part of the Science Museum Group collection and is owned by the National Railway Museum in York. It is operated and maintained by Riley & Son (E) Ltd, based in Heywood, Greater Manchester. Thanks go to both organisations for facilitating this event in Doncaster.
st luke’s festival of light adds sparkle to the festive season
One of Sheffield’s best loved Festive traditions will be shining brightly again this December as the St Luke’s Hospice Festival of Light returns.
The Festival of Light is the annual celebration that sees thousands of lights brighten the charity’s Little Common Lane garden, all dedicated in memory of loved ones.
This year’s event will be held on Sunday, December 3, and will be hosted by BBC Radio Sheffield presenter and keen St Luke’s supporter Paulette Edwards. She will be joined for the official countdown and
switch on by Michael King, whose wife Michelle was a St Luke’s patient.
“I am so proud and honoured to be supporting the St Luke’s Festival of Light because I know just how much St Luke’s means to people like my Michelle,” said Michael.
“Anyone who has been cared for by the team at St Luke’s, whether in the hospice or at home, should also take comfort from knowing that their loved ones receive such magnificent care when they need it most.”
St Luke’s Head of Fundraising Joasia Lesniak commented: “Festival of Light has been one of our major annual fundraisers for more than a quarter of a century now and we aim to make this year’s celebration even more magical than ever before.
“It is always a very special time for St Luke’s friends and supporters to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones in a very special way.
“I don’t think that anybody realised when it started just how important a part of the St Luke’s calendar the Festival of Light would become but for many of our supporters it really is the official start to the Christmas period and something that they look forward to attending every year.”
As well as the official switch on, visitors can enjoy mulled wine and other seasonal drinks, along with food – with both vegetarian and vegan options –from a range of local street vendors. There will also be live music provided by some special guests throughout the event.
First Bus will once again be providing a free Park and Ride service, with the first bus starting from the Abbeydale Road Tesco car park at approximately 3.45pm and the last bus leaving the hospice at 7.20pm.
The Little Common Lane gardens officially open at 4pm, with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 6pm.
“We are delighted to invite everybody to join us in our gardens for this very special evening to remember and celebrate the lives of the ones you loved,” said Joasia.
“It’s a lovely time to come together and every penny raised helps us to provide vital care and support to our patients.”

TICKETS GO ON SALE THIS WEEK FOR TAKE THAT’S SHEFFIELD RETURN
one of the UK’s most successful band, Take That, have today announced their return with a huge stadium and arena live tour for 2024.
This Life On Tour will see the trio - Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald – open the tour at Utilita Arena Sheffield on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th April 2024 where they will be joined on the tour by very special guest, Olly Murs.
Tickets will go on general Friday 29th September at 9.30am at tix.to/TakeThat
Take That are renowned for their huge productions and incredible live shows, and currently hold the record for the most performances at London’s The O2 with 34 headline
shows. 2011’s Progress tour broke box office records by selling over 1 million tickets in less than 24 hours, becoming the biggest tour in the UK and earning them a place on Billboard’s annual ‘Top 25 Tours’ list, placing third worldwide. In 2019, the band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the 38 date sell-out Odyssey tour which saw them play to 29 arenas and 9 stadiums, selling over 650,000 tickets.
Take That’s brand new single, Windows, out this week - sees them reunite for their first original composition in over five years. Windows, is a beautiful track which tells the story of emerging from the darkness into
the light. As a familiar falsetto rings out across the opening notes of Windows, it signals a new era for one of Britain’s best selling bands, Take That; an era brimming with energy, creativity and a continued desire to challenge and surprise.
The musicality of Windows hints at what listeners can expect from This Life, the band’s ninth studio album and their first since 2017’s Wonderland. Beautiful melodies, soaring choruses, sophisticated harmonies beautifully blending the trio’s voices permeate the new album, due for release on 24th November.
“It’s been a wonderful experience being back
in the studio together making this record. It has that feeling of spreading your wings, letting out the old and bringing in the new” commented the band.
‘We’re incredibly proud of the new album - there’s a sense of togetherness, whether that’s us coming back together as a band or people wanting connection in their own lives. We’re excited for this new chapter!”
Throughout the writing and recording process, the band honed this new sound in some of music’s most hallowed halls, including New York’s Electric Lady Studios and Nashville’s Historic RCA Studio A which between them have hosted David
Bowie, Dolly Parton, The Beach Boys, Adele, Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers and more.
2023 has already been an exciting year for the band, with a string of stellar performances including their most intimate in years at KOKO in support of War Child, a sell-out headline show at British Summer Time in Hyde Park and the King’s Coronation concert, watched by an audience of over 12 million. This summer also saw the release of the big-screen adaptation of their record-breaking musical, ‘The Band’. The film, titled ‘Greatest Days’ starring Aisling Bea (This Way Up, Hard Sun), was released in June to rave reviews
across the board.
Windows and upcoming album This Life continues the legacy of one of the most successful bands in British chart history, with over 45 million records sold worldwide and 12 Number 1 hits in the UK. For a band 30+ years into their career, Take That are not standing still; constantly evolving, the future looks bright for the trio. Tickets to see Take That with special guest Olly Murs in Sheffield, the opening dates of the This Is Life Tour, on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 April 2024 go on general sale Friday, 29 September 2023 at 9:30am from www.utilitaarenasheffield. co.uk.

Fostering Rotherham launches an exciting partnership with Rotherham United
Fostering Rotherham and Rotherham United have launched a new partnership, raising the profile of fostering in the borough.
Football is a sport that brings people together and it’s something the whole family can enjoy. Just like Football, fostering changes the lives of children and young people for the better.
Rotherham United will be promoting fostering opportunities across the season. There will be two dedicated Fostering Rotherham fixtures that will shine a spotlight on fostering to thousands of Football fans. This exciting partnership will help to spread the message about fostering to a captive audience of Football fans. The partnership was launched at Rotherham’s fostering conference, a bi-annual event hosted for foster carers. It was an opportunity to bring Rotherham’s fostering community together and to celebrate the contribution that foster carers make to the lives of so many children and young people.
and Young People at Rotherham Council, said:
“I’m really pleased that we’re working with Rotherham United to promote fostering, raising awareness amongst supporters and residents across the borough.”
“There is no typical Football fan or foster carer. We urgently need new foster carers from all walks of life. There are local children, right now, in need of a safe, stable and loving environment to call home. If you have the space in your home and the love in your heart, please get in touch with the Fostering Rotherham team.
“The partnership was launched at our fostering conference, where families from across the borough came together to celebrate fostering. It was our way of saying thank you to Rotherham’s fantastic foster carers for their dedication to children and young people.”
Jamie Noble, Head of Community at Rotherham United, said:
majority of young people live in loved and natured environments, sadly not every young person has that.
“Fostering is a great opportunity to help a young person get the best start in life and see the rewards of supporting some of our most vulnerable young people in the town.”
Lindsey Robinson and Jason Moxon have been fostering for 8 years. They transferred to Fostering Rotherham from an Independent Fostering Agency and said:
“We’ve looked after a range of children from 0 to 18. The advice I would give to people is to just do it. Don’t hold back, look into it, and foster. The support available has been amazing. The fostering conference has been a great way to meet other people and celebrate fostering.”
Councillor Victoria Cusworth, Cabinet
Member for Children
“Rotherham United is thrilled to be promoting fostering in Rotherham. As a family-owned club, we know how important it is to provide young people with safe spaces and whilst the vast

People who are at higher risk of serious illness from COVID will be invited to get their winter vaccinations.
People will be able to book their jabs through the NHS website, the NHS
App or by calling 119.
Eligible groups may also be offered a vaccination by GP surgeries or other local NHS services.
Those eligible this year include
• all adults aged 65 years and over
• people aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
• frontline health and social care workers
• people aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression
• people aged 16 to 64 years who are carers and staff working in care homes for older adults
The vaccination programme for residents of adult care homes and people who are housebound began last week. In the first few days of this year’s winter programme, nearly 11,000 people have already received their vaccinations. As in previous years, the NHS will let people know when bookings open. Those eligible will be invited to book a vaccination appointment in priority order, starting with those at greatest risk, with the main programme expected to be completed by the end of October.
The NHS is encouraging people to get both COVID and flu vaccinations as soon as they can and not delay, due to the risk of a new COVID-19 variant and ahead of the winter period. It is important for those who are eligible to top up their protection, even if they have had a vaccine or been ill with

EIGHT HaCks fOR EasY GaRdENING
The allure of a wellmaintained garden is undeniable. For many, it is a haven to relax, entertain, or admire. However, with the unpredictable nature of UK weather, achieving that picturesque garden can quickly become a labour-intensive chore. With that in mind, Jonathan Creber has shared the easiest ways to maintain a stunning garden with minimal effort. These are his top eight garden care hacks:
1. Tidy up garden borders
flu or covid before, as immunity wanes over time and these viruses change each year. NHS staff have worked hard to prepare for the earlier start of the programme to make it as easy as possible for people to get protection. COVID vaccines will be available at a greatly-extended network of community pharmacies this winter, alongside clinics run by a majority of the primary care networks within South Yorkshire. Flu vaccines will also be available through local GP practices and pharmacies.
Last year, the NHS faced the ‘twindemic’ of flu and covid with high occupancy in hospitals and record pressure on staff, so plans for this winter are already underway. Dr James Thomas, Medical Director, said: “The NHS flu and COVID vaccination programmes have been very effective in protecting those at greatest risk and we will work at speed to ensure they are protected once again this year. “With concerns arising over new COVID variants, it’s vital we adapt the programme and bring it forward for
those most at risk, and so I strongly urge everyone eligible to come forward as soon as they can for this important protection in colder months. The vaccine continues to provide the best protection against serious illness and hospitalisation from COVID-19 so please make sure you get vaccinated when offered and encourage loved ones who are eligible to do the same”. NHS staff have worked hard to ensure services are ready for patients to get jabbed at an earlier stage so they can get their protection as soon as possible”.
Following guidance from the Chief Medical Officer and the UK Health Security Agency, NHS England brought forward its COVID and flu vaccination programme, which was due to start at the beginning of October. The guidance was given following the emergence of the COVID variant BA.2.86, which is currently under assessment by UKHSA.
Last year, the NHS carried out its second biggest ever flu vaccination campaign, with more than 21 million flu vaccinations given to adults and children, while more than 17 million COVID jabs were delivered last winter.
Earlier this year, NHS England announced more than 86 million COVID vaccination appointments have been arranged using the NHS’s national online booking system since its launch two years ago.
in your smaller outdoor areas.
• Hanging planter
These can become mini gardens for various herbs, such as basil, rosemary, mint.
• Vertical pallet gardens
For those with limited space, vertical gardens offer a nutritious solution. Use vertical pallet gardens for fruit like strawberries or herbs, as these usually grow happily in smaller areas.
• Climbing vines
blend of aesthetics and practicality. Beyond visual allure, gravel stands out for its affordability and functionality. The advantage of gravel is that it also promotes excellent drainage and is easier to lay than concrete or stone.
8. Illuminate your garden with solar lights

A freshly mowed lawn is a garden’s crown, but achieving the perfect finish is about mastering the details. Traditional mowers do a great job of the lawn, but often, the grass edges are left behind, which can leave your garden looking messy. Investing in a pair of handheld garden shears can overcome this problem to ensure a more polished look. For a versatile solution, you can pick up a handheld hedge trimmer. Not only can they be used to keep your hedges neat, but they can quickly tackle the grass at the borders that mowers often miss.
2. Save money by planting perennials
Perennials are a great choice for those looking to add a splash of colour to their garden while keeping costs low, since they regrow every spring. Here is a breakdown of three popular perennials and their estimated cost over time:
• Lavender. This aromatic plant is a favourite for many garden enthusiasts.
• Geraniums. You can introduce these vibrant plants to your garden for around £2 a plant.
• Echinacea. This has a remarkable lifespan of up to 40 years in natural settings, which means these plants can cost as little as 2p per year if well cared for. Its advisable to divide Echinacea every four years in garden settings to ensure that they flourish.
3. Embrace vertical gardens
Consider adding hanging planters, vertical pallet gardens, or climbing vines
For vibrant decor, consider climbing vines. These add beauty and an infusion of colour in smaller spaces while keeping things tidy.
4. Add some potted plants
Potted plants are the answer for those looking to introduce versatility and ease into their garden. The ability to move these pots means plants can always get optimal sunlight, and with less soil surface, there’s a reduced chance of weeds.
5. Create your own mulch Mulch, a gardener’s secret weapon, is a material spread atop the soil. It is used to conserve moisture, improve soil health, and combat weed growth. Mulches are made from many things, such as straw, wood chips, plastic and even rubber, but an eco-friendly, cost-effective tip is to use banana peels.
6. Plant hardy shrubs
Shrubs like boxwood or holly are like the reliable friends of the gardening world. They are resilient, can withstand the UK’s unpredictable weather, and demand very little care.
7. Opt for gravel paths
Gravel paths are not just about the rustic charm they bring to gardens. They offer a
Solar-powered stake lights cast a gentle glow, and are ideal for outlining paths or flower beds. For a sprinkle of charm, opt for solar-powered string lights Other super simple garden care hacks include:
• Fertilise your plants with coffee grounds: Enjoy your coffee and use the leftover grounds to help your garden. They’re packed with essential nutrients and also deter pests like slugs.
• DIY vinegar weed killer: Mix around a pint of white vinegar with five teaspoons of salt and around a third of a teaspoon of dish soap into a spray bottle and spray the base of any unsightly weeds.
• Reuse plastic milk bottles to protect plants: These bottles can shield young seedlings from chilly spring breezes when placed upside-down. Alternatively, fill them with warm water and use them as mini hot water bottles for your plants. By leveraging these uncomplicated tricks and strategies, you can effortlessly transform your outdoor space into a picturesque haven that remains easy to care for. Active Travel Neighbourhoods in Crookes & Walkley are to be made permanent, following a decision at the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee today. The scheme in Nether Edge will be modified to reflect the views of residents, with a number of pedestrian crossings remaining in place. The Committee considered a number of reports which outlined the delivery of the schemes, detail on their impact and the results of public consultation. The Active Travel Neighbourhoods (ATNs) were introduced in May 2022 using Experimental Traffic Orders, also known as ETOs. Through ETOs it is possible to put in place changes to traffic movement and/or to parking arrangements on a temporary basis in order to trial whether a permanent scheme would work in the area.
Cllr Ben Miskell, Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee, said:
“We are committed to creating thriving and sustainable communities across Sheffield where residents feel safer cycling to the shops, walking their children to school or crossing the street. As a Committee we have taken into consideration
the thoughts and opinions of those living in these communities, while also acknowledging our duty to do everything we can to create safer, more inclusive streets for every resident. That is why we decided to request changes to the proposed permanent schemes after listening to residents’ feedback during consultation. It was important we considered their views and ensured what will be delivered has the support of those it affects. These Active Travel Neighbourhoods support the work taking place across our city –providing people with a genuine choice of how to get around and giving them more confidence to choose alternative modes of sustainable transport for shorter journeys.”
What is an Experimental Traffic Order and how does it work?
An ETO is a legal document which puts in place changes to traffic movement and/or to parking arrangements on a temporary basis. They provide communities with the opportunity to experience first-hand proposed changes to the streets where they live, work and visit. They are an opportunity for councils to learn lessons, before making a final decision on schemes.

STRICLY WALTZES BACK IN TO THE ARENA
It’s time to dust off those scoring paddles and get those dancing shoes ready, because the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour is back for 2024!
Strictly legends Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, and Craig Revel Horwood return to take up their judging seats and It Takes Two’s Janette Manrara is back as tour host.
The Strictly Live Tour will dazzle audiences at Utilita Arena Sheffield across two amazing shows on 23 January 2024 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Directing the Strictly Live Tour is TV Judge Craig Revel Horwood, who will once again be creating a dance extravaganza like no other, featuring a stellar line-up of talent from the current series of the smash hit BBC show, recently named Best Talent Show at the 2023 National Television Awards. And of course, the Strictly Live Tour Band and singers will be wowing arena audiences with their show-stopping tunes and harmonies. Celebrities and professional dancers joining the tour will be announced soon.
Strictly’s Head Judge Shirley Ballas said: “I’m delighted to be judging the
Strictly Live Tour once again - there is never a dull moment alongside Anton and Craig! The audiences are always electric, the atmosphere is amazing, and Anton has promised me lots of surprises! I can’t wait for January next year when we get the show on the road!”
Anton Du Beke said: “It was my first Strictly tour earlier this year and I was blown away by the scale and spectacle of the live experience. So, I’m thrilled to be back with all the gang next year and look forward to another incredible tour.”
Craig Revel Horwood said: “What better way to start the new year than with the Strictly Live Tour! It’s going to be gorgeous to be back on the road with Shirley, Anton, and Janette. Joining us to entertain you all will be an A-MAZ-ING line-up of celebrities and professional dancers from this year’s series. And, as you would expect, we will have a few extra special surprises in store for the arena audiences along the way. One word, three syllables - FAB-U-LOUS!”
Janette Manrara said: “What an incredible way to kick off 2024! I
am always so honoured to host the live tour as it brings everything that viewers love about the Strictly TV show to thousands of people around the UK. It’s a great night out for all the family - I just can’t wait!”
Strictly Come Dancing returned to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday 16 September for its 21st series with an all-new exciting celebrity and pro dancer line-up and an array of incredible dance routines. Strictly’s Live Tour celebrates all the joy of the TV series, showcasing the amazing choreography and fantastic live music that Strictly is synonymous with –providing audiences of all ages up and down the country the opportunity to experience everything they love about the TV show live on stage in their hometown or city.
Not only are the arena audiences treated to the spectacular roof-raising routines, but they are also granted the power to decide who wins the coveted Glitterball Trophy at the end of each show. The tour judges will of course provide their invaluable wisdom, advice and scores at each performance - we couldn’t stop them if we tried -

but the ultimate power lies with the audience. A text for their favourite couple is all it takes; their votes will decide who wins!
As with the 2023 tour, each performance will host a British Sign Language interpreter, who will be displayed on two very large screens on either side of the stage so that
audiences can book tickets and sit almost anywhere in the arena to enjoy the experience with family and friends.

NOT A GREIGHT RESULT FOR THE BLADES
A tough week for all associated with the club ended with a bitterly disappointing result against Newcastle United. Unfortunately for the majority inside Bramall Lane, the Blades were unable to register a victory following the devastating midweek passing of Maddy Cusack, with eight different players getting on the scoresheet.
Boss Heckingbottom made two changes for the hosting of Newcastle United at S2, with fit-again Egan replacing Basham, who dropped to the bench and Norwood recalled at the expense of the suspended McBurnie.
Manchester City loanee McAtee made his home debut in the Premier League. Following what was an
RIP MADDY CUSACK
Sheffield United Football Club is devastated to report the sad news of the passing of Maddy Cusack.
Maddy, a women’s team player since 2019 and marketing executive for the Football Club, passed away on Wednesday. A respected player, Maddy, 27, last season
emotional pre-match build-up as the club and all inside the stadium warmly paid their respects Cusack, United started brightly with Thomas having a back post effort blocked by the retreating Trippier from Bogle’s inviting cross. At the other end, Guimarães freed Wilson but Foderingham denied the England international.
Thomas then had another chance, volleying wide at the back post after a lovely break involving McAtee who crossed, before Souza stung the palms of Pope. But on 21 minutes, it was the Magpies who took the lead in fortunate and slightly controversial circumstances as Gordon seemingly handled before teeing up LONGSTAFF to fire home.
reached the milestone of 100 appearances for Sheffield United Women. Additionally, she was a valued colleague in the offices at Bramall Lane, moving over from the Sheffield United Community Foundation to the Club in 2021 to help market all areas of the Blades.
Stephen Bettis, United’s chief executive officer, commented: “This is heartbreaking news for everyone at Bramall
XISCO: ‘IT IS SO DISAPPOINTING’
Ahmedhodžić was cautioned for a foul on Gordon and from the resulting free-kick, Trippier whipped in a dangerous delivery that was narrowly missed by Wilson and Botman, but moments after the half hour, the visitors doubled their lead as BURN headed home at the back post from another inviting centre from Trippier. Referee Attwell harshly deemed Robinson’s tackle on Longstaff to be too strong and Trippier notched another assist as BOTMAN rose unmarked to head home a third and with frustrations amongst the growing, only Foderingham stood between Newcastle and more goals as he twice denied the lively Wilson. At the interval, Traoré

replaced Bogle, but the start of the second 45 saw things go from bad to worse for the Blades, as Eddie Howe’s men scored three goals in 11 minutes. WILSON headed home a Trippier cross, GORDON curled home the fifth before ALMIRON got on the scoresheet with Guimarães claiming the assist. Looking for a consolation, Ahmedhodžić fired over having worked his way into a promising position, before GUIMARAES netted after a fortunate ricochet despite challenges from Souza and then Traoré. Slimane and Egan were booked late on as ISAK completed the scoring, capitalising on a misplaced header by Tom Davies.
offer as much support as possible to Maddy’s family, friends and colleagues.”
Discussions over suitable tributes and celebrating Maddy’s life will continue privately. The Club and Maddy’s family would appreciate a period of privacy and will not comment further at this sad time.
Xisco cut a disappointed and frustrated figure following the 3-0 defeat to Swansea on Saturday.
The Owls started the game well in South Wales but following Jamal Lowe’s penalty, the hosts went from strength to strength and further goals from Jerry Yates and Charlie Patino sealed victory.
Wednesday hit the woodwork and fashioned other chances but the Swans were the sharper in the final third.
so disappointing because from the beginning we were the better team. We took the game to Swansea but the penalty changed the game.
is TAYLOR PLEASED WITH PRESTON POINT
The manager said: “It
“But after that we still had chances but did not have the capacity in the final third to change the situation. We hit the crossbar and if that was a goal we would be talking about a different outcome for sure. We created chances, we got crosses into the box but Swansea took their chances and we did not.”
“I felt that we were in the game and had a chance of getting three points out of that game. We put one into the top corner to go ahead and we just needed to stay ahead until half time.
has been a real handful and that’s exactly where we need him to be.
Matt Taylor told millers. co.uk how happy he was after securing a point against high-flying -Preston North End.
THERE IS PLENTY MORE TO COME
Louis Jones is determined to show even more of what he is capable of delivering after grasping his chance between the sticks for Rovers with both hands.
“I’ve got unfinished business here,” he said.
“I’ve got to more to show and levels that I’ve not had the opportunity to show to the fans. They support us every week and as long as we perform, we’ll get that support. That’s been shown in the example of
“Cam’s injury meant that we had to reset the team during the break, so that goal going against us at that time was disappointing.
“I’m pleased for Jordan, that’s two home games on the bounce where he me. If I perform, they back me and if I don’t, they’ll let me know.
“I think I’ve done well.
I’ve been there to calm us down when we’ve needed it, to play when we need to play and make the good decisions.
“I think I’ve probably matured in terms of making the correct decisions. I’ve always been working on thinking about the game.
“I’m really happy with how the last three games have gone.” Jones’ run in the side has coincided with a run of three straight wins for Rovers, with the goalkeeper earning
“He led the line really well and was a constant platform throughout the match, I’m not sure he’ll have bent many into the top corner throughout his career, but it was a great goal.
“It looks like a hamstring injury for Cam and we’re fearing the worst. I’ve said all along that this is what three games at Championship level can rave reviews for his performances in each of the victories. He accepts no credit for the victories and feels the team have grown defensively in recent weeks.
“I’m really happy to step in and do my job for the team,” he said.
“One clean sheet in three - we probably want better than that if we can. We’ve conceded a lot of goals and that’s a team thing we’ve looked at and worked on. I think you can see the lads are doing well now at keeping things outside and stopping crosses really well. Lads are blocking things, getting

their heads on things. I’m really happy that I’ve come in and we’ve got three wins but it’s not just me obviously, it’s a team effort and we’ve done really well in that aspect. “It’s just a case of performing. You’ve got to be consistent and if I can do that and do my job, the lads trust me to do that and the gaffer does as well, that’s the main thing. It comes from a selfconfidence as well. You’ve got to believe in yourself and feel that you deserve that chance. I’ve been waiting for a long time and I feel that I’m more ready than I ever have been.”
