to release their first album in six years, “Panic of Girls’” and is set to be what fans have been craving. “We are really proud with the body of work on Panic of Girls. The album is a combination of numerous musical styles. We have been in the studio for a long time now so we are excited to get out on the road and debut the new songs live for our fans,” says front woman Debbie Harry.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (2006), music, style and pop culture icons and best selling recording artists, Blondie emerged from late ‘70s new wave punk scene in New York City and defied easy categorization. They wrote great rock hooks and brilliant, ironic lyrics. They had the hippest clothes and the coolest hair. Debbie Harry went from the pages of Punk magazine to the
cover of just about every mainstream publication on the news stands. With multiple #1 smash hits like “Heart of Glass,” “One Way Or Another,” “Call Me,” “Rapture”
and “Maria,” the band has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide.

VOICE OF THE NIGHTINGALE - ISSUE 33 Playing the music that you want to hear; that’s the motto of Radio Nightingale. Playing requests for the patients and staff of the Rotherham General Hospital is what Radio Nightingale does best, but have you ever wondered which track is the most popular? To make sure that we are in tune with the current trends of the audience we keep a track of the requested songs. But seeing as some of the requests are so popular we play them again in the Best Requested programme presented by Jonathan Carrington. Each evening between 9pm and 10pm Jonathan will be playing a selection from the Top 100 requested tracks on Radio Nightingale and he’s got some interesting trivia facts on
them too. Our requests are mostly collected from around the wards directly from patients, and while hearing your favourite song is a little lift, hearing a message from your family is even bigger. Dedications and special wishes are welcome from family and friends outside the hospital, near or far, by phone (01709 304244) or email (admin@radionightingale.org.uk). So if you have a relative or friend in the hospital do get in touch with us and we can play them their favourite song with your special get well wishes message. Alternatively if you’re coming to visit the hospital anyway call at our request desk in the hospital foyer, on Monday evenings, and leave a special message there. Radio Nightingale is looking for more volunteers to assist in the collection of requests. This work involves visiting the hospital wards and talking to patients to find out what songs they would like to hear. Then returning these collected requests to the studio and retrieving the appropriate CD’s from our library to be played.
Additionally there’s the request desk in the hospital foyer, currently only operational on a Monday due to volunteer levels. Request collecting sessions, either on the wards or at the request desk, are for a couple of hours at a time, if you’d be interested helping out with this, get in touch with us. Oh, and for those of you not in hospital to hear the Best Requested programme, the most popular track is from 1963, The Ronettes with Baby I Love You.
Radio Nightingale broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the patients and staff of the Rotherham General Hospital on 945 &1350mw and Hospedia. Current volunteer vacancies: • Saturday sports show presenter • Football commentator • Fundraiser • MW transmitter engineer • Voice over artist / creator Contact us on 01709 304244 for more information on volunteering.

Celebrate Summer at Crystal Peaks This coming season, Crystal Peaks has raised the temperature with its fresh and exciting fashion for the coming season. So, as the weather warms up, why not revive your wardrobe and style at Crystal Peaks? This season, Topshop will be stocking some of the most sought after looks. Denim is back with a vengeance and better than ever. It’s double trouble with this season’s musthave look of pairing denim with denim. Seen once as a fashion faux-pas, this trend is going to be everywhere. Select cropped denim jeans and a baggy jean shirt with statement shoes for a true fashionista take on the double-denim style. The military and tribal trends fuse to become a ferocious and inescapable force this Summer at New
Look. Look out for the exotic, embellished and beaded tops, giving your outfit an exciting edge. Accessorise as much as you can, where you can! Think bangles, layered beaded necklaces and striking earrings. At Dorothy Perkins find metal-plate inspired patterns, digital prints and flirty florals and bag them! A top tip is to go for a shoulder graphic print dress and you’ll be on trend for the next two to three seasons. Ladies, with the dawn of a new season comes the introduction of innovative make-up. If it’s bold it’s beautiful, so experiment with some new shades this Summer from Boots. For a true beach babe style go for turquoise eye-shadow but go easy on the eyeliner. For the ultimate statement make-up, opt for auda-
cious colours and lots of mascara, both on the top and bottoms lashes to really open up the eyes. Head to The Perfume Shop for the perfect fragrance to complement your new look, giving you a spring in your step and make heads turn. Men, don’t get left behind. Head to Burtons where you can find simple understated monochromatic Ts, stripy shirts, a nautical top or a soft summer sweater. The 80s inspired outfits are still key this season, so look out for skinny jeans and over sized jackets. Footwear should be casual, look out especially for boat shoes and loafers which will offer comfort as well as style. Keep it at Crystal Peaks this Summer and discover just how great you can look and feel.

Landlords face high prices from pub companies, say GMB
represents pub companies, said new guidelines will help tied landlords. About half of the UK’s 52,000 pubs are tied to pub companies, where they lease premises from the companies and are obliged to buy their beer from them. The GMB said the high price of beer was driving thousands of their members Some pub landlords say they out of business. Pause For Thought Following a recent conversation with a local club committee person I was astounded with his response to the subject of charging a nominal fee to members and non members to gain admission into the concert room for larger special events. He was adamant that we should not charge a penny for any concerts regardless of it being for charity or as a means to stage some of the country’s finest and most popular entertainers. My view on his opinions – wake up to the 21century. Why is it as many clubs are floundering as the theatres and arenas of Sheffield and the surrounding areas are prospering with record sell out nights? Average theatre ticket

price = £25.00 per person for a 90 minute show. Average Arena ticket price = £45.00 per person for a 2 hour show. So following several recent sell out club land shows which I attended and was charged a nominal fee of £6.00 to gain admission to see some fabulous entertainment lasting 4 hours and more, ask you this question. What else does £6.00 buy you these days – A Big Mac meal, 2 pints of Lager and a cinema ticket costs £7.50 Is it better for club land to charge a nominal fee to enable clubs to stage some of the country’s finest entertainers and once again have packed out concert rooms and record bar takings? Or shall we let some of our clubs continue under what I consider misguided outdated club management. A regular Club Land supporter.
THE MOOR SOLD IN £26.5m DEAL SHEFFIELD’S Moor shopping area has changed hands in a £26.5 million deal - but redevelopment should remain on track. Landlord R Reef, the property arm of Deutsche Bank, has sold the buildings to Scottish Widows Property Trust, part of Lloyds Bank. The 24-acre shopping centre, home to major stores such as Atkinsons and Debenhams, is currently undergoing work to refresh it for the 21st century. Among the projects is the £18 million building to house a new market hall - which will replace the rundown Castle Markets - and eight shops. All the details, including a row of up to eight shops adjoining the proposed markets and facing The Moor, will now be scrutinised by SWIP Property Trust. The council believes SWIP will not go back to the drawing board but will maintain the momentum, with any delay amounting to weeks, not months. A start on construction is envisaged within 12 months, and the projected opening date for the new markets, with 200 stalls, remains Spring 2012.
www.pjsmusic.com PROOF OF Stars in eyes ZERO BIAS their @ Sheffield There is nothing more embarrassing for a newspaper than to overlook a journalistic prank prior to publication. We therefore share the discomfort of one of our local competitors when they unfortunately overlooked the fact that a reporter of the “blue and white” persuasion jokingly referred to the Blades’ mascot as “Captain Pig” in a recent article, forcing the editor into a public apology. To show there is no such bias in the Mercury, we are delighted to include a recent photograph of our Managing Editor, Andrew Platts, looking really at home cuddled up to Captain Blade at a recent event in the Platinum Suite at Bramall Lane, and we are sure his good friends at Hillsborough will enjoy seeing this in print!
CROOKES SEARCH FOR A STAR Crookes Social Club is to host a search for a star competition with numerous cash prizes alongside a unique opportunity to be booked on a professional level to appear before a packed house. (A great introduction for any aspiring star). We at The Mercury are very happy to be associated with this event to reveal the stars of tomorrow. Further details can be obtained by emailing themightyw8608@aol.com or telephone 07887 607008. The first heats will be starting soon – so calling all singers, dancers, musicians, entertainers and comedians – give it ago show club land your potential.......
Trades
An exciting and eclectic evening with something to suit all tastes! Hosted by Sue and Paul, ten tribute acts performed to a packed out concert room at the Sheffield Trades and Labour club. The acts included Simon Booker as a young Rod Stewart, Laura Wall as Katie Perry, Mick Bradley as PJ Proby, Carley Wellington as Amy Winehouse, Ben Whattam as Mick Jagger, Eileen Bradley as Shirley Bassey, Mark Sawyer as Roy Orbison, Emma Whapplington as Katherine Jenkins, Keith Walton as Maurice Gibb and Jenny Williams as Liza Minelli. The acts battled it out on stage, performing 2 songs each. By the audience vote in 3rd place was Mark Sawyer (Roy Orbison) 2nd place Emma Whapplington (Katherine Jenkins) and in 1st place 15 year old Carley Wellington who put in an outstanding performance as Amy Winehouse. Carley from Greenhill, Sheffield was “Shocked and very happy” to be voted in the top spot, and received £100 prize. A huge well done to all the acts involved and to Sean Duddy from the Trades and Labour club for helping to organise a great show and showcasing some of Sheffield’s finest talent.

CHASE & STATUS ARRIVE AT THE ACADEMY Check this out…… Plug have managed to secure a date on the latest tour for drum and bass legends CHASE AND STATUS. Wednesday 5th of May is going to be a mental night, and will be held at the O2 Academy (they’re so popular they’ve had to find a bigger venue to fit everyone in!) Huge tunes, on a huge sound system from a duo well on top of their game. Just the way we like it. Since the start of their DJ careers back in 2004, things have been moving very quickly for the
THOSE BOYS IN BLUE Having created classic indie pop songs for over ten years, Britpop survivors The Bluetones have a hit packed live set. The Bluetones filled the gap that the Stone Roses left behind, providing graceful but muscular guitar pop with slightly psychedelic overtones. The band appeared during the waning days of Brit-pop, which guaranteed them a considerable amount of press coverage that helped their debut album rocket to the top of the charts upon its release in early 1996. Originally called the Bottlegarden, the Bluetones formed in Hounslow in 1994. The group consisted of guitarist Adam Devlin, drummer Ed Chester, vocalist Mark Morris, and his brother Scott, who played bass. All of the members had previously played in local bands before forming the Bluetones. During 1995, the group released two singles, “Are You Blue or Are You Blind?” and “Bluetonic,” on their Superior Quality Recordings label, which received positive, reviews in the British music weeklies. By the fall of 1995, they were being touted as the next big thing in Brit-pop, since their sound fell halfway between the Stone Roses and Oasis. Early in 1996, the group released “Slight Return” which shot to number two a month before their debut album, “Expecting to Fly”, was released. “Expecting to Fly” was greeted with mixed reviews, but it debuted at number one on the British charts and became a sizeable hit. Despite their British success, the group had trouble breaking America. Furthermore, they were the subject of a quick backlash, as many critics believed the group embodied the conservatism of Brit-pop -- the non-LP single “Marblehead Johnson” was
London based duo. From their very first release on Renegade Hardware they’ve churned out a continuous supply of quality music, catapulting them into the premiership of Drum and Bass. The smash hit album More Than A Lot and single End Credits (alongside Plan B) have further cemented the duo as serious heavyweights on not only the drum and bass scene but the music scene as a whole. Their live show is a cracker too, and not just 2 blokes staring down at a laptop. Live drums, MCs and a full on in your face lighting set-up all combine to dazzle your ears and eyes. Tickets are flying out for this event, get them while you still can and you’ll get to check out the guys before they become so welcomed cooly upon its release, and it only dented the charts, but unlike almost all of the fellow ‘britpop’ bands, they continue to release new material and tour. Following two further albums on major, A&M/Universal (1998’s Return to the Last Chance Saloon and 2000’s Science & Nature), they signed to the big indie, Cooking Vinyl in 2003 for Luxembourg and 2006’s The Bluetones. Vocalist Mark Morriss released a solo EP under the alias Fi-Lo Beddow in 2006, which eventually bloomed into a full solo record under his real name. Memory Muscle was released in June 2008, and received a surprising amount of critical acclaim, given the music press’ frosty attitude to Bluetones material. It included new versions of the songs which made up the Fi-Lo Beddow EP, and featured strings arranged by Bond film score composer David Arnold. Catch the band live in Sheffield when they play the O2 Academy on the 18th. The Bluetones: O2 Academy 2, Sunday 18th April

TIC TIC TIC BOOM! The cross cultural soundclash of underground genres that are Sonic Boom Six are back again with a massive UK tour. Formed in Manchester in 2002, Sonic Boom Six represent the most compelling soundclash to rise from the underground in years. Few bands can so smoothly mix dancefloor-savvy elements of reggae, jungle & ska with the rigorous commentary of hip-hop whilst retaining enough grit and aggression to be an active fixture of the UK’s punk scene. Only Sonic Boom Six are propelled by the melodious rapping of Laila K who is one of the most incendiary vocalists to ever bounce around a moshpit of Mohawks. A true product of their environment - the sound of a thousand city-centre clubnights and student party mash-ups invigorate the righteous fury of distorted guitars and dubby grooves – SB6 create a sound as authentic as it is unique. Looking as at home on a festival stage as they are playing at a warehouse party, the band are retaining their grassroots ideation and positive, unifying message as their music steadily permeates a wider international audience. Check out ‘Sound of a Revolution’ for the Boom in an instant – fluid grime vocals laid over a bass-heavy skank, detonated with a blast of punk-rock. The group, completed by Jimmy T Boom (guitar and vocals), Barney
Boom (bass and vocals) and Neil ‘Madfish’ McMinn (drums and samples). “We’ve spent so much time playing to fresh crowds across Europe - where they genuinely know nothing about you and you have to entertain non-stop for an hour and a half or more - that our writing was influenced by that vibe. We wanted to keep the inventiveness of our older stuff for the current fans whilst also being able to make a room full of kids in a squat dance their arses off when they hear these songs for the first time.” This outlook extends into the band’s distinctive tradition of mixing the narrative and wordplay of hip-hop with an unflinching commentary of their surroundings that snarls with the studded spirit of 77. “I’ve always been as influenced by rappers lyrically as I have by rock artists” explains Barney, “I’m definitely drawn to the idea of talking directly about an issue rather than shrouding the whole thing in poetry. I think it’s the most effective way to get a point across”. Laila and Barney are also members of Suicide Bid, the ongoing dub-punk collective. A continuation of the DIY approach at the heart of the band’s ethos, SB6 arrange the Ruff and Ready package tour which provides a collective platform for some of the most intensifying underground bands around. Catch this great live act when they blast into Sheffield on the 20th at the O2 Academy. Sonic Boom Six: O2 Academy 2, Tuesday 20th April, Door time: 7.00pm, Show time: TBC

reviews by presley artist: Jacques Brel single: My Death release date: April 19th There are very few French artists that have made it big in the UK, in fact you’d struggle to even count them on hand and use all your fingers. But they produced one of the very best in Jacques Brel. If a country could only have one big artist, you’d have to be satisfied with Brel. He passed away quite a few years ago but he is still massive in France as well as being hugely appreciated by virtually every musician in the world. The thing that hits you like a train, if you watch clips of his TV appearances on Youtube for example, is his passion, it’s massive! I don’t think I’ve ever seen another performer with his amount of pure performance, the getting into the role of the song and projecting it in such a manner that you believe every word, you believe that he lived every moment of what he is singing to you. Jacques Brel is as important an artist as people like Scott Walker, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Dusty Springfield. The artists that have covered his songs are immense, Among the interprets of his music are the likes of the already mentioned Scott Walker as well as Alex Harvey, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Petula Clark, Shirley Bassey, David Bowie, Nina Simone, Mark Almond, Arno, Leonard Cohen ... His talent also widely surpasses the areas of the world where French is spoken : In America for example, Terry Jacks scored a No.1 hit with an adaptation of Le Moribond (Seasons in the sun) which was also a No.1 in this country. Bowie’s cover was the title of this compilation ‘My Death’. Bowie did it at his Ziggy Stardust retirement show at the Hammersmith Odeon in ’72 and the whole show is a very famous rock movie directed by the equally famous D A Pennebaker. If you’ve never seen it I urge you to have a look on Youtube (everything is on there) and see the passion of the song that Bowie uses so well to kill off his alter-ego in front of his screaming and crying teenage fans. This is a singer and performer that everyone should have in their collection I believe. Ok you have to like the French language, if you don’t then you’re buggered really. But you’ll be missing out on an extraordinary phenomenon.
artist: Shakira single: Gypsy release date: April 19th
I love her! But her last single ‘She Wolf’ seemed a bit forced, a tad overdone and obvious. It was almost as if she’d already become a parody of herself. Well this follow up is a ballad instead of the up-tempo-ness of the previous release. The subject matter is still in that “being obvious” category, but the song is much better and less of a Shakira impersonator vibe.
artist: Recoil single: Selected release date: April 19th Alan Wilder’s years in the music industry have seen him go from studio assistant to session keyboard player, but it was his 14 years as a member of Depeche Mode where he really honed his skills. The album ‘Songs of Faith and Devotion’ being the pinnacle by a mile. With his attention to detail in the studio, Wilder pushed the boundaries even within the restrictive climate of commercial pop. As an antidote to the demands of the Mode, his studio project Recoil was born in the mid-eighties. ‘Recoil Selected’, features a brand new selection of classic Recoil tracks personally chosen by Alan Wilder who explains: ‘The collection is made up of my personal favourites, remastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience.’ The album features a varied selection of vocalists including Diamanda Galás, Joe Richardson, Douglas McCarthy, Samantha Coerbell, Toni Halliday and Maggie Estep). To complement this release Alan’s doing one off shows around the world, one being in London on the 24th April and its said to be a very strange hour??? I have no-idea what that will entail except I know that in LA Gary Numan and his producer Ade Fenton will be doing a DJ Set on the same night………..bizarre!

COPLEY’S COLUMN ALBERT SNODGRASS
THE NEWLY-WEDS ESTABLISH SOME GROUND RULES The newly-weds are in their honeymoon suite and the groom decides to let the bride know where she stands right from the start of the marriage. He proceeds to take off his trousers and throw them at her. He says, “Put those on.” The bride replies, “I can’t wear your trousers.” “And don’t forget that” he replies, “I will always wear the trousers in this family!” The bride takes off her knickers and throws them at him with the same request, “Try those on!” He replies, “I can’t get into your knickers!” “And you never will if you don’t change your attitude.” AT AN AGRICULTURAL SHOW This couple go to an agricultural show way out in the countryside a fine Sunday afternoon and are watching the auctioning off of bulls. The guy selling the bulls announces the first bull to be auctioned off, “A fine specimen, this bull reproduced 60 times last year.” The wife nudges her husband in the ribs and comments, “See! That was more than 5 times a month!” The second bull is to be sold, “Another fine specimen, this wonder reproduced 120 times last year.” Again the wife bugs her husband, “Hey, that’s some 5 times a month. What do you say to that?” Her husband is getting really annoyed with this comparison. The third bull is up for sale, “And this extraordinary specimen reproduced 365 times last year!” The wife slaps her husband on the arm and yells, “That’s once a day, every day of the year! How about you?” The husband was pretty irritated by now and yells back, “Sure , once a day! Great! But, you ask the auctioneer if they were all with the same cow!”
Gordon Brown went to Buckingham Palace this week to formally ask for the dissolution of parliament until May 6th, the date of the general election. I will bet that her majesty breathed a huge sigh of relief that she will not be seeing him again. The political knives are now well and truly out, and I was pleased to see David Cameron give him a good trouncing at the last prime minister’s question time on April 7th. Figures just released indicate that South Yorkshire and particularly Rotherham have suffered more than most in the last five years of this awful government. It is ironic that it is these same people who continually vote the Labour Party in, and are surely now seeing the lack of wisdom in doing so. If readers don’t take a blind bit of notice of anything written in this column, I beseech you, on this occasion, to use your constitutional right to rid us of this rabble before they bring this country to its’ knees. However they try to dress it up, an increase in N.H.I. contributions is a direct tax on jobs, the last thing we need to get out of the current recession. Also, penalising the rich is counter-productive as it is only the prosperity of the rich that can keep the poor on the trickle down theory. Here endeth the party political broadcast on behalf of the Conservative Party. This weekend has been tre-
mendous on the sporting front, particularly for the underdog. Lowly Scottish division one club Ross County defeated the mighty Glasgow Celtic two goals to nil to reach the Scottish Cup Final for the first time in their history, and just one day after being relegated from the Premiership, financially bereft Portsmouth beat mighty Tottenham Hotspur to get to the English Cup Final, when they will play moneybags Chelsea. This is what dreams are made of. To complete the picture Blackburn Rovers held Manchester United to a goalless draw, making Chelsea the strong favourites to be the champions. My beloved Owls lost one nil to a fluke deflected goal against Bristol City, after bossing the game for the most part. I am, however, confident of our survival, with probably Plymouth and Scunthorpe joining Peterborough for the drop. I am supremely confident that we shall overcome the Blades as well as Crystal Palace in our survival quest. In golf, the American Masters tournament from Augusta was compulsive viewing for me, much to the chagrin of my girlfriend, although I did manage to generate some interest by telling her that Lee Westwood was not only a Worksop lad, but also a keen Wednesdayite. Lee played out of his skin for the first three rounds, eventually succumbing on the last day to the best
left handed golfer ever, Phil Mickleson.(What would I give to be left-handed) Much interest was shown in Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods. After an eight month lay off whilst getting therapy for sex addiction, would his performance on the golf course match that of the bedroom? I am sad to report that he was not his usual self, but any lesser golfer would not have stayed in contention for so long. I cannot believe that the cricket season has started already. My team, Yorkshire, although I now live in Derbyshire, have started alright, and at the time of writing are in a strong position in their first match against Warwickshire. However, international call ups for Bresnan and Rashid may seriously hamper any prospects of a successful season this year. My bad luck in the Grand National, my horse falling near the end, but it was good to see that eight times champion jockey A.P.McCoy at last got the one prize that has eluded him. Consistent with my policy of only going to see quality artistes, I am pleased to say that the immensely talented Niall Howard did not disappoint when he appeared at the White Swan, Dronfield. In these times of desperation in the pub and club trade, please patronise those that support live music.

A FINAL MOMENT OF TRUTH A man lies on his deathbed, surrounded by his family: a weeping wife and four children. Three of the children are tall, good looking and athletic; but, the fourth and youngest is an ugly runt. “Darling wife,” the husband whispers, “assure me that the youngest child really is mine. I want to know the truth before I die, I will forgive you if ...” The wife gently interrupts him. “Yes, my dearest, absolutely, no question, I swear on my mother’s grave that you are his father.” The man then dies, happy. The wife mutters under her breath: “Thank God he didn’t ask about the other three.”

Pop royalty Westlife celebrate their triumphant return to the top of the charts with the announcement of their first live concerts in two years, returning to Sheffield Arena on Sunday 9th and Monday 10th May 2010. Tickets, priced £38 (subject to booking fee) went on sale at 9am on Friday 11th December. Revered for their spectacular live shows, created with visionary William Baker (Kylie, Leona, Bjork) Westlife are thrilled to be returning to the stage two years since their last concert tour. The show will include fan favorites, the band’s biggest hits and brand new tracks taken from their first new album in two years, ‘Where We Are,’ released November 30th 2009. Westlife are among the world’s most prolific touring acts, with eight sell out world tours already under their belts. Their most recent concert tour, 2008’s ‘Back Home Tour’ visited arenas across the UK and New Zealand, culminating in stadium shows in Ireland, including a sell out show at the legendary Croke Park in Dublin. On the show’s arrival at London’s Wembley Arena, it was declared that the boys had sold more tickets at the venue than any other act and had played a record number of dates there, an amazing 25. The tour will support the band’s brand new album ‘Where We Are’, which was recorded during much of 2009 in studios across Europe and the US. The record features work from pop’s finest craftsmen, including grammy nominated Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis, Beyonce) Steve Robson (James Morrison, Take That) Steve Booker (Duffy) Louis Biancaniello and

Paul Stanley says, “The “KISS Alive 35 Tour” was just the start.”Sonic Boom Over Europe” leaves that show in the dust. New stage, new set list, new outfits, new album! We’re covering the whole musical history of the band on a stage that takes KISS one giant step further in our eight inch heels. We’re stoked. You wanted the best? You GOT the best!” Gene Simmons says, “Now. More than Ever. KISS is a four wheel drive monster truck. Our mission? To rock Planet Earth. To spread the gospel of Sonic Boom” With over 80 million album sales worldwide, KISS remain one of the most iconic and influential rock bands of all time. Throughout their stellar 35 year career KISS have established themselves as one of the great live rock bands. Kiss was named by VH1 as 10th on their list of the ‘100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock’. On 23 September 2009, Kiss was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Kiss will be opening up the UK leg of their tour at the Sheffield Arena on Saturday 1st May 2010, with tickets, priced £40 (subject to booking fee) now on general sale.

Sam Watters (Whitney Houston, Anastacia.) and Shaznay Lewis, who co-writes a track with band member Mark Feehily. These stellar production teams have helped the boys create a new and contemporary sound, whilst retaining those classic Westlife soaring melodies and rousing lyrics. Featuring the already massive hit single ‘What About Now,’ as seen on The X Factor, it’s a collection bound to excite fans and pop enthusiasts alike. No pop band can compare to Westlife’s extraordinary success. During their 11 years at the top of pop’s hierarchy, the band has sold over 40 million records globally. In the UK alone they have scored nine multi-platinum albums and a record breaking 14 No.1 hits (behind only Elvis and The Beatles). They have also picked up innumerable awards and appeared on hundreds of magazine covers around the world. They are the only recording artists to win the prestigious ‘Record Of The Year’ an incredible four times (other top awards include two BRITS and an MTV Europe Award). 10 Golden Rules for a Perfect Wedding 1. Personal recommendations are the best way to find reliable suppliers. Be sure to ask your family and friends if they know of any good wedding suppliers from car hire companies to caterers. If you are using a company you’re unfamiliar with, don’t be afraid to ask to speak to previous customers about their service. Reputable companies often have a collection of thank you letters from satisfied customers to put your mind at rest.
2. Always confirm everything in writing. Whenever you make a booking it’s worth taking the time to put all the details in writing. Make two copies so both of you and your supplier can see exactly what has been agreed and can refer to it when necessary. The same applies when paying for anything, even a deposit; make sure you get a receipt and keep it safe. 3. Start keeping a wedding folder so you can collect all your ideas together in one place. If you see a picture in a magazine that you like, you can tear it out and add it to your collection of business
cards and recommendations you receive.
4. Book early! It’s obvious that the best things get booked up well in advance so don’t hang around. If you’ve had your heart set on a venue or a florist, check their availability as soon as possible. Try to leave as little as possible to the last minute to avoid disappointment. 5. Decide on a theme for your wedding. It could simply be a modern or summery feel or something more specific like a particular colour scheme or era. 6. Delegate! You may love the idea of organising your own wedding but if you’re not careful it could turn into a nightmare. By letting friends and family get involved you’ll have lots of fun as well as easing the workload. 7. Avoid family friction at all costs. The initial delight of your engagement can soon become a distant memory as everyone starts telling you how to plan your wedding. While it’s good to com-
promise in some situations make it clear from the start that it’s your big day and that you as a couple have the final say.
8. You don’t need to spend a fortune to have a spectacular wedding but you do need to plan your budget carefully. Think about which are the most important aspects of the day to help you decide where you want to splash out and where you can make savings. 9. Find out about forthcoming wedding fairs. By going to a fair you can pick up loads of ideas and contacts in one place that could take you months to visit individually. You’ll find lots of special offers and even if you don’t buy or arrange anything at the show you’ll definitely get plenty of inspiration. 10.Finally, remember why you’re getting married. It may seem obvious but it’s easy to let the wedding preparations take over your life and that’s when you’re most likely to end up arguing, so take time out to enjoy life and be together

LEAP INTO SPRING WITH SLIMMING WORLD Advertising Feature
Spring has arrived and has given two people the chance to save lives with their new jobs. Slimming World is delighted to welcome Trevor Thomas and Dawn Thompson to the company. Trevor said “I feel absolutely fantastic since losing 5 stone, when I joined my local Slimming World group I was incredibly nervous at the idea of walking into a room full of women but I don’t know what I was worried about. From the minute

I stepped through the door everyone was so friendly and made me feel so welcome. Dawn decided to join Slimming World when she saw the holiday photo’s from hell which actually came from one of the best holidays of her life. Dawn was determined that turning 40 in the summer she would not be fat and forty so she set on a mission. She has lost an amazing 1 ½ stone, recently she achieved her Club 10 an award given to members who

have lost 10% of their start weight, this is recognised by the health professionals as it really has a major impact on lowering blood pressure, reduce heart disease, improve asthma and significantly reduce certain obesity related cancers. Trevor adds “Reducing my weight has led me to a new lease of life, I now have more energy to exercise and I enjoy it! I have reduced my medication for diabetes, my self esteem is higher and I can now buy clothes in a wider variety of shops” The best thing about Slimming World is I can still socialise and enjoy meals out with my family I know I’m still in control because I use my ‘syn’ allowance on what I like , with Slimming World it always your choice. I eat so much healthier now, the unlimited choices I can have means I am never bored.” Both of them agree the only way they have achieved there weight loss is by the weekly group support. Something Dawn feels
very strongly about “My promise is to be there 52 weeks a year and give each member the weekly support in group with Slimming Worlds unique Image Therapy, this gives everyone the motivation they need to embrace the week ahead.” As a member at Wadsley Bridge group I realise how great it is to talk to like minded people, be inspired and never be judged, swop recipe ideas, receive endless encouragement and leave group feeling totally motivated to tackle the next week ahead.” Trevor also enthuses “The support from within the group was fabulous I really couldn’t have done it without them, my Consultant Rebecca was fabulous too, and she was always there for me whether it was talking in person, chatting on the phone, or sending texts, emails and little cards. Local consultant Lynne Riley added “Slimming World is about you being in control rather than your weight controlling you,
the freedom and choice power is great , you never go hungry or feel deprived , and with Slimming World everything is confidential and you never feel humiliated and best of all ,you set your own target weight”. Trevor will be taking over the Waterthorpe group at Beckton Ave Community Day Centre from Monday 19th April at 7.00pm. For more info call Trevor on 07542 963694. Weekly Horoscopes ARIES March 21st - April 20th Don’t rely on a friend who has broken promises in the past. This leopard hasn’t changed their spots. If you lend them money, you’ll never see it again. It will be difficult to get your ideas across in the week ahead. It seems like a rival is doing everything in their power to oppose you. At times, it will feel like everything you say is being categorically rejected. Keep a low profile and remain patient. You will soon have an opportunity to prove all your critics wrong. TAURUS April 21st - May 21st It feels like your boss has an axe to grind against you. No matter what you say or do, they will always find fault with it. Instead of bending over backwards to accommodate the powers that be, just go with the flow. Ask for instructions and stop from making your own suggestions. In time, you’ll be given more freedom. Right now you need to prove you can play by the rules. This runs contrary to your creative spirit, but sometimes it’s more important to fit in. GEMINI May 22nd - June 21st Beware of buying into someone’s sob story. They are trying to manipulate you. Turn them down if they ask for money or an alibi or you’ll be implicating yourself in their bad behaviour. You may have to suspend membership in a club or organisation because you have to deal with career matters right now. Working behind the scenes will impress the people in the front office. Don’t be surprised if you’re offered a raise or promotion as a result of your professionalism. CANCER June 22nd - July 23rd You could become a victim of fraud, trickery or deception. To guard against this problem, keep your personal information under lock and key. Check your bank and credit card balances on a daily basis. If you see any strange activity, notify the authorities immediately. The quicker you detect the problem, the easier it will be to nip it in the bud. Your boss will go back on a promise to you. Maybe this is a sign you need to look elsewhere for employment. LEO July 24th - August 23rd Discovering a loved one’s secrets will be a real eye opener. You’re starting to realise you need to be more objective about friends and lovers. Too often, you put your nearest and dearest on pedestals. This leads to disillusionment. By adopting a more realistic attitude, you won’t be setting anyone up for disappointment. You may have to go on a course to add to your qualifications. Give yourself enough time to master new skills, or you’ll fall short of your goals. VIRGO August 24th - September 23rd Finding a job is more difficult than you think. All the rejection is starting to get under your skin. Instead of beating your head against a brick wall, look for volunteer opportunities. Granted, this won’t help your financial situation, but it will boost your ego. Donating your time to a worthy cause or charity helps you get valuable skills and makes you a hot commodity on the job market. An intimate relationship is showing signs of strain. Try not to argue. LIBRA September 24th - October 23rd You’re not sure if you want to move forward with a romance. Relinquishing your independence is a difficult prospect. Although you love working as a team, part of you hates having to compromise to accommodate other people. Maybe a temporary separation will help sort out your feelings. Don’t wait too long or your partner may decide to move on to greener pastures. Renewing a lease or contract is highly favoured, but don’t sign any new agreements this week. SCORPIO October 24th - November 22nd Stop fooling yourself about a troubled member of the family. This relative needs help, or they’ll just keep on causing chaos. It may be necessary to issue your loved one an ultimatum. Refusing to put up with their bad behaviour could prompt them to get the help they obviously need. If not, you need to make a life without them. This may sound callous, but it’s for the good of all concerned. You may have to revise a work project, much to your annoyance. SAGITTARIUS November 23rd - December 21st It’s hard to focus on the problems at hand, mostly because you’re not sure how to solve them. The temptation to run away will be strong, but you must resist or innocent victims will be forced to deal with the fallout. A colleague’s nasty behaviour is getting under your skin. You’re sorely tempted to tell them just what you think of their bad attitude, but don’t do that just yet. They’ll soon be reaping the fruits of their negative vindictiveness. CAPRICORN December 22nd - January 20th There is some confusion surrounding finances. Money you were promised has not arrived. You’ll have to get outside help to straighten out this problem. Although you hate playing second banana to somebody else, you must admit you are out of your depth in this situation. Keep quiet and let your partner do the talking. You’ll have to rearrange your living situation to deal with an emergency. Be flexible enough to help a friend or relative with a problem AQUARIUS January 21st - February 19th You’re not sure how to handle a domestic problem. You hate dealing in the realm of emotions; you’d rather work out problems in a logical manner. Unfortunately, that just isn’t possible right now. There are too many feelings boiling over. Respect a relative or roommate’s need to vent their frustrations. A message or phone call will be delayed. You won’t be able to make a move until you get a plan approved by a colleague, relative or neighbour. PISCES February 20th - March 20th Dwelling on old problems won’t help you make any progress. You’ve got to forget the past and formulate plans for the future. Someone could break their promise regarding money that is owed to you. You’ll have to find another way to cover the bills until this cheque arrives. Fortunately, you attract offers with your energy and enthusiasm. If you refuse to be cowed by disappointment, you will land a lucrative position with loads of job satisfaction.

FREEDOM2CHOOSE The latest survey of the under-25 age group in five different regions of England reveals 88.6% enjoying the company of those who choose to smoke. The survey also discloses how the same age group do not hold the loyalties that the older generation had to our landlords and social clubs, choosing to drink at home instead where smoking is allowed to provide for the needs of all. Phil Johnson, Chairman of the pro-choice group Freedom2Choose who engaged in this exercise states, “It is obvious that the implementation of a total smoking ban was wrong when choice was freely available to cater for everyone. It’s appalling that 5000 businesses have closed and around 100,000 people are out of work as a result. The youth appear to be showing the way forward.” The survey, accredited by Dr Ruth Cherrington (Lecturer, Cultural & Media Studies at Warwick University), confirms that the youth are not pressurised into smoking by others and appear to be very aware of being dictated to; they confirm that they are sceptical of government motives and do not swallow the publicity surrounding passive smoking. Phil Johnson further states, “It is becoming increasingly obvious that social needs and choices are being heavily questioned during this election period. BODY TALK
As is always the case within the universe we are guided protected and steered throughout our lives towards happiness and wellbeing. Generally if there are problems there is a good chance that we have created them ourselves. The only time this isn’t the case is when a bolt out of the blue rocks our world because of Karma. We adhere to certain paths and journey toward and through significant milestones as a result of Karmic contracts. Karma is a choice we made before birth to look at certain situations, relationships and issues during this lifetime. These milestones aren’t always apparently positive but always result in growth on a soul level, which is the main reason we are here. Illness also follows the same pattern and there are two types of illness that can affect us. The type we have chosen to experience, karmic illness including the way we pass to the spirit world, and the type we create for ourselves. You may think it odd if not down right crazy that we would choose to be ill at all but we often create illness by holding on to unresolved emotional issues, worry and grief.
Thankfully everything within the universe has a perfect order. We are guided and protected through our Karmic repayments and we are notified early on of any ‘self inflicted’ impending health issues but to fully understand this we have to know how non- karmic Illness is created. Primarily illness is created when the flow of life giving energy around the body is impeded in some way. Blockages occur in different areas of the body usually as a result of an emotional issue we have shelved. What is great about our bodies is each part of it is ‘tied’ to an emotion or area of life. So if a particular of the body is ailing it has a corresponding emotion or factor that needs to be looked at in order to heal. For example people who suffer from backache without having experienced injury to the area may well be worrying about money. Many holistic practitioners will always look at the emotional state of a patient as well the apparent physical problems as the two are always tied. Why not take a look at the list below and see if there are patterns that you can see within your own physical and

Daren Does It All! PAINTING & TILING SERVICE
HANDYMAN SERVICE ALWAYS AVAILIBLE
Daren’s philosophy is to do those little extra things, going the extra mile has proved successful as his customers recommend him and come back if they need other jobs doing. ‘If I’m working on a kitchen, for example, I will always do those other small jobs in the house for free. For example, an elderly couple called me out to fix a blocked lavatory which was only a ten minute job and just a couple of miles away so I didn’t charge them. I know others would have done and this is why people come back and use my services.’ As Daren’s partner is a childminder he has been fully CRB and OFSTED checked which is both good to know and makes him ideal for working on the homes of childminders as well.
All Work Guaranteed All work that Daren carries out is fully guaranteed and a full preparation ensures a solid long lasting job. Once the project is completed a customer satisfaction sheet is signed by the customer and all parties agree that the project is finished to a high standard. Daren is pleased to offer a service with no up-front costs and customers are only eligible to pay on final satisfied completion.
IT’S
• House Refurbishments and Renovations • Painting and Decorating • Internal and External Work • Kitchen and Bathroom Fitting • Full Tiling Service • Plastering • Cornice/Coving • Joinery • Bedrooms • Flooring • Roof Repairs • Fascias and Soffits • Guttering • Decking • Fencing • Paving • Pointing • Handyman Services • Landlord Work • CRB and OFSTED Checked
Insurance Specialist Insuranc Claim Managment Discovering a burst pipe and flooding in your home can be stressful. Contacting the insurance company and having to wait can be really inconvenient. Make Daren your first port of call, he will initially fix any leaks and take the stress out of those call centre calls. Daren will take control of your claim and liase directly with your insurance company all the way through your claim. Once the surveyor has assessed the damage Daren will help to speed up the claim and work using top grade products and suppliers . His service includes supply and installation of products and this will be allocated in the budget from your insurance company. Daren will bring samples for you to choose from and ensure that the stress is taken out of claiming.

DON’T PUSH IT and Mc COY PUSH THE BOAT OUT!
The 2010 Grand National was won by Don’t Push It, ridden by the champion (of all champions) NH jockey, Tony McCoy. The winning margin at the line was 5 lengths and the winning time was 9m 4.6s – 9.4 seconds under the Racing Post Standard time of 9m 14s. This was a good time but still some considerable way off the course record time of 8m 47.8s held by Mr Frisk, set on 7th April 1990. I have quite painful memories of that day as a friend of mine had spotted a horse that had been brought over from America to be trained specifically for the National by the late and great Capt. Tim Forster. The horse in question was Uncle Merlin who had started the race at 16/1 (we had both had plenty on). His form this side of the Atlantic up to the National read 82412. He had only won a race at Wincanton over here but on the other side of the pond he was, from memory, almost unbeaten, if not so. Anyway he had led the field, seemingly at a canter, until Becher’s Brook the second time. Mr Frisk was the only one that could go with him - and he was well under the whip from Marcus Armytage. Then Hywel Davies inexplicably decided to take on Becher’s at the steep bit towards the LOCAL SPORT NEWS

inside and fell off (the official description is unseated rider but I still cannot bring myself to accept this as the horse did nothing wrong). I can still feel the wallet pain from all those lovely fivers that I had been eagerly anticipating coming from the bookie disappearing back into his satchel. However, back to Don’t Push It and McCoy, this was a gritty and determined performance by both horse and jockey - but I could guess some way out which one of them wanted it most! After the last McCoy almost carried the horse over the line and if Don’t Push It had even the slightest notion to show any weakness McCoy was in no mood to let him shirk the issue. This was one National that McCoy was not going to let slip from his grasp. It was a truly tremendous feat by both and one that no one could begrudge the best NH jockey of all time. Having paid my respects to man and beast what happened to my selection, Mon Mome? Well he fell at the 26th fence when out of contention, having not apparently travelled all that well. I suppose it is difficult for horses to win back-to-back Nationals but I did genuinely harbour quite a strong belief that he was up to the task, had been prepared specifically for it and could do it. ing my selections generally ran OK without winning in the main but the one stand-out result for this column was Orsippus winning on Thursday at the very rewarding odds of 40/1. If you backed him you shouldn’t have come to any serious harm in the wallet department by following my selections. This week sees the start of the Guineas trials at Newmarket. In the Nell Gwynn on Wednesday I reckon that Hafawa has a very good chance. On Thursday it is the turn if the Colts in the Craven Stakes and I think that Elusive Pimpernel has a strong chance of winning and upholding the Racing Post Trophy form. On Saturday it is the Fred Darling at Newbury but this looks a race to leave alone as there does not appear to be any outstanding form on show. Next week also sees the start of the Punchestown NH Festival where, on Tuesday I think that Dunguib will set the record straight following his Cheltenham defeat, Big Zeb should win the Champion Chase and, on Wednesday, What A Friend can win the Gold Cup. More about the rest of the Punchestown Festival next week. ISSUE 844
Chairman asks for united front With the Millers facing a crunch promotion six pointer with Northampton Town tomorrow evening, Chairman Tony Stewart has called on the fans to get behind the team as the Millers look get back to winning ways. “Having seen and heard certain comments and speculation since Saturday’s game I think we all just need to take a deep breath and take stock on our position,” insisted Mr.Stewart. “We are coming towards the end of the season and we all feel the tension, we all get the nerves, but I think we just need to put some realistic perspective on our position and if people think that we sit back and that the manager, the staff, the Board and, especially the squad of players, are all satisfied with the current level of performance and run of results they are very much mistaken. “We all know that the current squad are capable of performing to a level that will match or beat any side in league two, so let’s get behind this team and encourage the team and the manager to excel in this time of need and high expectations.” The Chairman pointed to financially stricken Portsmouth for inspiration after relegated Pompey upset the odds to defeat high flying Spurs in yesterdays FA Cup semi-final: “Look at Portsmouth’s spirit yesterday - against all odds and against all the form guides, they were so solid and together as a unit and did the manager, the supporters and the name of Portsmouth Football Club proud,” added the Chairman. “We just need to galvanise our spirits and stick together, at Rotherham United Football Club we have come a long way in a short space of time and, let me promise you this, we will continue to make progress in all areas, and we will not stop our unrelenting approach to progress in every single area for this Club. “God bless you all for your support.”

a deflected goal from Scott McDonald was enough to secure all three points. McDonald struck just before half time but it was tough on the Owls, who showed plenty of gumption on Teesside only to see the key break in the game go the home side’s way. Alan Irvine recalled Jermaine Johnson to the starting lineup after Leon Clarke was withdrawn from the squad having evidently suffered an injury in the warm-up. Clarke was originally down to face Gordon Strachan’s side and Johnson came in as a like-forlike replacement in the final third. Wednesday needed a positive start at the Riverside and showed their early intent when Darren Potter forced a flying save from ex-Owls loanee Brad Jones, who was up swiftly to deny the onrushing Marcus Tudgay. Johnson then went close with an acrobatic effort from a difficult angle as Wednesday enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges. Boro fans had to wait until the 15-minute mark to see a shot on goal from their side and even then McDonald’s long ranger was high and hopeful. Wednesday continued in the driving seat as the first half unfolded and could have taken the lead on 23 minutes. Tudgay sent Johnson scampering clear down the middle but the Jamaican international miscued at the vital moment on the edge of the area and Jones was allowed to clear the danger. The hosts then stirred into life, with both Leroy Lita and Julio Arca sending shots narrowly wide but Wednesday were undaunted and asked most of the questions. But that was until five minutes before half time, when Boro got a decisive break in front of goal and went into the lead as a result. McDonald found space 20 yards out and drilled in a low effort that Lee Grant had covered, only for the shot to take a wicked deflection off Mark Beevers and nestle into the bottom corner, leaving the keeper wrong-footed and Wednesday undeservedly trailing at the interval. The start to the second half was low key and with Boro buoyed by their advantage, the hosts looked the more likely. But then the Owls came within a whisker of drawing

header came back into play off the crossbar. Boro responded immediately with Grant expertly diverting a blistering drive from distance by Kyle Naughton. The contest developed into an open, end to end affair but with neither side stamping any real authority on the closing stages. The Owls introduced Etienne Esajas and Francis Jeffers as the clock ticked down but despite a late rally, there was to be no breakthrough. IRVINE RUES BORO WINNER Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine rued his side’s bad luck following the Owls’ narrow defeat at Middlesbrough on Saturday. The game was settled by a deflected Scott McDonald strike that wrong-footed Lee Grant after a wicked deflection off Mark Beevers. To compound matters, Luke Varney struck the woodwork on an afternoon of ill fortune for Wednesday, who remain in the relegation zone with three games left to play. Irvine said: “That’s the third deflected goal we’ve had against us since I came to the club. I don’t think Middlesbrough deserved to win that game. “It was a good performance and we hit the crossbar when that could have gone in. But we are staying positive. Obviously, the lads are feeling really low right now after that

A VIEW FROM THE TERRACE
Written by Bunsen Bob Steel City derbies, by their very definition, are big games. Quite possibly the biggest of them all was back in 1993 at the proper Wembley Stadium for a place in the FA Cup Final. For months after as a 10 year old boy I tried to replicate Waddle’s free-kick or Bright’s header to varying degrees of unsuccessfulness with at least 3 footballs being confiscated by angry neighbours and one surprisingly vexed priest. Sunday’s encounter will not go down in the history books as the biggest or most historic clash but it won’t be far off. United have the advantage of having an interestingly useful juxtaposition unfolding in front of them; The stale pressure of scrambling for league points and positions has been lifted and replaced with the fuel injected passionate pressure of a derby game. Their fans will no doubt still be foaming at the mouth thinking they can relegate us with a win and it is a chance for an otherwise mediocre player to become legendary (see Ekoku, Owusu, Tudgay et al). Performances haven’t been dreadful but we haven’t really come genuinely close to scoring for a good long while. The benefit of a derby game is that the unnaturally high tempo will sow the seed for opportunities. Opportunities which we need to take more than ever before. Don’t be surprised if Irvine makes some interesting selections and don’t be surprised if you have a new favourite player by the time you settle down for the Eastenders omnibus.

The tiring Little was withdrawn to a round of applause, to be replaced by Williamson, but the Coventry efforts continued and the visitors were handed a gift by the referee on 80 minutes when Simonsen caught what was adjudged to be a backpass. Fortunately, Clingan blasted well over from just eight yards. The fresh legs of Yeates took the place of Quinn in the final ten minutes and United were happy to hold on to the slender advantage, tightening up the back line and midfield. Chances for both sides dried up for the closing moments although a Yeates effort was blocked and Gunnarsson fired well over for the visitors, despite a clear sight of goal. Three minutes of additional time was added at the end of the 90 and Coventry won a corner - which Westwood came forward for - but the Sky Blues could not trouble Simonsen and United saw out the closing minutes to make it 18 wins to Coventry’s 16 in the 50 competitive meetings between the sides. Big Sam’s verdict The Blades saw out some anxious moments to clinch their first win in five games and assistant manager Sam Ellis recognised that fear of losing their single goal advantage had restricted the players’ as the prize drew nearer. In the end, though, there was no doubting that the three points were well merited: “We felt that we dominated the game from the first minute, deserved the win and perhaps a couple more goals would have reflected our performance more accurately. “A few nerves set in after we had scored because the lads really wanted to win after playing well in games recently without picking up the points. “When that happens they can become anxious which produces a few negative thoughts, and no matter how much we do to change things it is perhaps understandable that the closing stages prove to be the hardest.” That was the case when referee Salisbury awarded an indirect free-kick just yards from the Blades goal after Steve Simonsen held on to Harper’s sliced clearance: “That was nearly as bad a decision as the penalty awarded against us at Newcastle and I don’t know what the referee was looking at. Whatever angle

you look at it from it didn’t make sense.” Richard Cresswell’s 12th goal of the campaign (tenth in the league) just after the break proved the decider and the Kop end was treated to one that was worthy of winning a game: “It was well-worked and very well-taken. ‘Cressy’ is a good pro as well as a good goalscorer and although he is now 32 years old he hasn’t lost his desire and hunger. You should be able to see that in everybody. He is a great example, has that never say die spirit and is the sort you want in your side. “He is locked in a battle with Darius Henderson to finish as top scorer and seeing as he didn’t arrive until the Autumn it would be a big feat for him if he managed it. “Darius tried to nick the goal from him at Newcastle but the ball might have already have been over the line.” Ellis also confirmed that Gary Naysmith’s inclusion on the bench was on merit and not just to take up a place: “He had a couple of Reserve games and suffered a reaction but he played again on Wednesday, says he feels fine and so he is back in. He was included today because he could have done a job if needed. “If there is an opportunity to look at him during the next three fixtures we would like to.”
