TV STAR STEWART FRANCIS TO STAR AT RED CROSS COMEDY NIGHT TV star Stewart Francis is to headline Giggle Aid III - a comedy fundraiser for the British Red Cross in the Platinum Suite at Bramall Lane, Sheffield on Sunday 18 December - and has revealed that he’s actually a Sheffield Wednesday fan. Stewart is probably best known as one of the recent stars of BBC’s ‘Mock the Week’ where his seemingly endless killer one-liners regularly steal the show. He has

also written for and appeared on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, ‘The Omid Djalili Show’ and ‘Not Going Out.’ Stewart is to perform previously unseen material ahead of his 2012 UK tour, and is donating his time for free to raise funds so the Red Cross can help people affected by disasters in the UK and overseas. Stewart Francis said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be appearing at Giggle Aid III to raise money for the Red Cross and I’m

really looking forward to performing for the people of Sheffield. I’m doing the gig because of the Red Cross’ exceptional work and because the gig is in the city of my favourite English football club.” Max Newton, Community Fundraiser at the Red Cross and Giggle Aid III organiser said: “Of course I pushed Stewart to reveal which of the Sheffield clubs he was a fan of, and the answer is Sheffield Wednesday. Despite his

allegiance to the Owls, Stewart is prepared to venture into the home of the Blades for a good cause - for which we are very grateful. Max Newton, added: “We’re extremely privileged that such a big comedy star is willing to donate his time and talent to help us raise muchneeded funds. All our acts are performing for free because they understand that the Red Cross do wonderful work helping people in a crisis wherever they

may be. It could be a family in a far off place whose village has been hit by an earthquake, tsunami, drought or famine. Or it could be you, me or our loved ones hit by floods, terrorist attacks, or house fire. “We also have a wonderful venue thanks to the guys at Sheffield United, with cabaretstyle seating and food available on the night. So, it’s ideal for work Christmas parties too!” Also performing on the night will be: Police

Sergeant Alfie Moore, as seen on ITV’s ‘Show Me The Funny’; Sheffield’s Anthony J Brown; and Mundo Jazz - described as “a latino Spinal Tap”. The evening will be hosted by New Zealand standup Sully O’Sullivan. Tickets cost just £15 (£12 concessions) and can be bought online at www.redcross.org.uk/ giggle or by contacting 0114 242 7379 or mnewton@redcross. org.uk .
