SHEFFIELD COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES The Community Support Services for Sheffield has been live since 27th March. The direct number to call if you are worried about a neighbour, relative or friend who is vulnerable, selfisolating or shielding is 0114 273 4567. The helpline will is open from 8.45am
to 4.45pm to help with any COVID-19 questions. To date the council have 1,000 volunteers in place. There are 150 from redeployed staff who are supporting the helpline and those supporting the Locality Community Response Teams. 850 are volunteers
supported by Voluntary Action Sheffield. All have been working hard to support vulnerable people across our city at this time. On the helpline, we have received 3,429 calls from the general public.
The types of service support they are dealing with are as follows:

Looking to recapture that same magic all these years later, the original line up of: Jon Windle, Edward ‘Maz’ Marriott, Ben Surtees and Dan Fields will be picking-up exactly where they left off to embark on a new and exciting chapter together.
Sparking a flurry of speculation in fan circles in recent days with a series of cryptic clues on social media this week, the Sheffield indie four-piece officially break their 11-year silence to announce a reunion show at the O2 Academy, Sheffield. Taking place on Friday 18th September 2020, the gig will be the band’s first live appearance since their emotional farewell shows at the very same venue in 2009, where they performed to over three thousand avid fans.
Speaking about the reunion show, frontman Jon Windle says: “We’ve had offers over the last few years to do something, but it was never the right time due to other things that were going on in our lives. Be a good neighbour – how you can help if you overhear domestic abuse How to help your neighbour if you overhear violent domestic abuse During the COVID-19 Pandemic we are all observing the Government guidelines on staying home and staying safe. Unfortunately for some people, this may not necessarily be the case, especially when it comes to domestic abuse. If you are worried about this happening to you or you have overheard domestic violence taking place in your neighbourhood, there is help in place to you as a victim and to you as a concerned neighbour. Cabinet member for health and social care at Sheffield City Council George LindarsHammond, said: “During this time when we are all abiding by the government guidelines on staying at home to keep ourselves and others safe during the COVID-19 Pandemic, for some it may also be a time when things may not be going well at home. “It is an awful and worrying thing to overhear someone being harmed in a domestic setting. This is why it is so important to share the message to people out there who are unsure of what to do if this happens. “If you overhear a neighbour being harmed, be a good neighbour and take these steps. You really could make all the difference to a potential victim’s life.”

HAILS COPPINGER’S A MESSAGE FROM TC WHITEMAN INFLUENCE ON HIS CAREER SO FAR During the current break because of the Coronavirus pandemic, our club ambassador Tony Currie has taken the opportunity to send this message to all Blades supporters.
Firstly, I’d like to express that my thoughts, and the thoughts of everyone at Sheffield United, are with those who have been impacted directly by the virus during this difficult time. I know everyone is truly grateful to those working for the NHS on the frontline, and to those key workers who are providing the imperative services which we need during this period of instability. As most will know, part of my role as club ambassador is being active in the community,
visiting supporters, young and old, whether that be in care homes, hospitals and attending birthday parties. Unfortunately because of the current circumstances I haven’t been able to do this, but I do hope the many telephone conversations and video messages I have sent in recent weeks have raised a smile to some of our most vulnerable fans at this time. As Sheffield United ambassador I am sending this message to wish you all good health. I would also like to reiterate the vital Government messages which we need to adhere to. It is so important that we continue to abide by these messages in an attempt to keep the
country safe. We, myself included, all miss watching our beloved team. We must remain patient though because those special times at Bramall Lane will be waiting for us again when this is all over. Let’s all hope that the season can be completed, when safe to do so, and we can continue this wonderful
chapter in this club’s long and illustrious history. Football will return, but for now we all have a role to play in keeping the country safe. Stay at home, take care and follow the guidelines. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. TC
Rovers captain Ben Whiteman has praised James Coppinger as one of the biggest influences on his career so far. The 39-year-old’s career has spanned two decades with much of his time spent at Rovers and Whiteman believes he is the best player he had played alongside by some distance. “Copps has been massive for me in my career – he’s the best player I’ve played with by a country mile,” said Whiteman. “He’s been massive for me because he’s been there and done it throughout the leagues. You wouldn’t be playing for this amount of time if you’re not a
OWLS JOIN FORCES WITH S6 FOODBANK The Owls are extending their partnership with S6 Foodbank in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
From this Thursday, 16 April, the foodbank will begin to distribute vital food and drink items around the community
for those who need it most. Donations will begin two days earlier, from Tuesday 14 April, at the Owls Megastore car park between 10.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays. Food and drink can be dropped off at the stadium in a contactless manner that reflects social distancing and government guidelines. The foodbank will
support the communities of Hillsborough, Wisewood, Southey and Wadsley Bridge through these troubled times. On Sundays, we usually text about how the match on Saturday has gone.” Speaking to D3D4 podcast, Whiteman explained that Coppinger is still one of the hardest working players in the Rovers squad. “The way Copps performs on a football pitch is outstanding day to day. Even in games now, he’s right up there in terms of miles covers,” he said. “The way he looks after his body and trains throughout the week is very good and that’s part of the reason he’s still playing at 39.
“He’s a great lad, trains very well, and off the field he does some outstanding work in his community and for football as well.
“When he finally does hang his boots up aged 56, I’m sure he’ll succeed off the field too.”
