guitar and even brass sections. The result is a hard driving rhythm, that can range from cajun through to blues and back again — often in the same song! While both cajun and zydeco have strong traditional roots, they are very much alive. The Bury Louisiana Festival includes both the old-time and the modern faces of cajun and zydeco.
ydeco music combines cajun styles with other Caribbean and Creole sources, in a mixture s they say in cajun country, of fiddle, accordion and ‘Laissez les bon temps roulez’ rub-board, together with bass — Let the good times roll!

ary Gauthier was raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana. At fifteen she stole her parents car and ran away from home. She spent her sixteenth birthday in detox and her eighteenth in a Kansas City jail cell. She eventually settled in Boston, where she opened her own Cajun restaurant. Now a full-time musician, her powerful confessional country/folk songs have won her acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. We are proud to present this major American artist on what is only her second ever visit to the UK. “Her songs are postcards from the edge… by turns clever, dark, witty, powerful, and always the truth.” Rockgrrl Magazine Hotlink! http://www.marygauthier.com/
