FIRST THURSDAY COMEDY CLUB

IQ

INTO THE HEART TOUR U2UK have the passion, drive and excitement of the real thing, taking you from the early years of Boy and Bloody Sunday, through the favourites like Pride, One and Streets right up to the current Vertigo tour. The lights, sounds and costumes will blow you away!

Award winning Grizzly Man is a documentary that centres on amateur grizzly bear expert Timothy Treadwell who studied and lived with wild bears. He was killed, along with his girlfriend, by a rogue bear in October 2003. The film explores Treadwell’s life as he finds solace among these endangered animals.

The first of our monthly comedy clubs kicks off with Reeves and Mortimer’s Uncle Peter. Charlie Chuck is described as a “real genius lunatic” by Loaded, and is so much more than a series of gimmicks. With the compere’s compere Mick Ferry, Newcomer of the Year winner Stephanie Davies, and support.

Progressive rock legends IQ return for a very special anniversary show, one of only a limited number to be held in Europe. They’ll be covering classics from their back catalogue, as well as previewing new material from their ninth studio album due early next year. Expect the band’s trademark musical and visual extravaganza! Standing event.

THE ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO Written and directed by Paul Goetzee

In the Italian hills in the nineteenth century, a kindly wood carver discovers a magical piece of pine and begins to shape a boy. As Pinocchio is brought to life, his search for independence and fun lead him through dangers including menacing robbers and jealous puppets. Will Pinocchio learn that honesty is the way to happiness or will his lies prevail and reward him with the excitement he craves?

Met Express presents

FIRST THURSDAY COMEDY CLUB

SCROOGE

Daliso Chaponda figures if the Malawi-style storytelling and British cynicism don’t cut it, he can always squeeze a laugh out with his Canadian self-victimization bit. His first headline act, Feed This Black Man, stroked funny-bones when it premiered in Montreal. He’s joined by Dan Nightingale, Helmut and support.

Met Express presents their very own adaptation of this popular Christmas tale. Told in the usual Met Express style, the performance will have a strong emphasis on comedy and characterisation. Met Express is a theatre group for people with disabilities interested in performance.

Escape the hustle and bustle of today’s Christmas and rediscover the true spirit of the Season with songs such as Let it Snow, Silent Night, O Holy Night and many more.

THE BEAT

THE WAILIN’ JENNYS

One of the best ska bands of all times, The Beat have had a number of hits under their name and also in their other incarnations General Public, Fine Young Cannibals, and solo projects. The band reformed in February 2003 and have played sold out venues ever since.

The Wailin’ Jennys are Annabelle Chvostek, Nicky Mehta and Ruth Moody, three Canadian women who have won huge acclaim for their lush three part vocals. Behind the praises are the songs, an intelligent mix of original and traditional tunes that focus on harmony but are grounded on an intricate instrumental base.
