MIALE TEAM ABOUT TOWN The Miale Team Raises $10,000 in Support of Connecticut Foodshare at Hockey Night On February 11th, we kicked off our first client event of 2022 at the XL Center to watch the Hartford Wolf Pack play the Springfield Thunderbirds! Our team had a blast cheering on Hartford's AHL team along with 1,200 of our clients! In continued partnership with Connecticut Foodshare, we held a fundraiser to raise donations to end food insecurity in our communities. We raised over $10,000 and provided 20,000 meals for those in need! We successfully beat 2021's fundraising goal, raising the same amount as last year in ONE NIGHT! We could not have done it without the support of our clients, team members, and sponsors. The Miale Team’s mission is to empower people, the people we serve and those we serve with. As a community focused organization, we will continue to partner with Connecticut Foodshare to raise donations and combat food insecurity in Connecticut.

On November 12th, we hosted our 8th annual HarvestFest client event at Kinsmen Brewing Company! Our longest running client event, HarvestFest is an opportunity to reflect on the year and show our clients how thankful we are for their continued support. Our clients are a part of our extended Miale Team family, and it was our pleasure to reconnect with them and celebrate another fruitful year! In the spirit of gratitude, we're also thankful to have reached our fundraising goal for Connecticut Foodshare in 2021, raising over $10,000 to help feed our community!

Community Involvement Children's Reading Partners' Virtual Book Drive
In partnership with Children's Reading Partners and the Rotary Club of West Hartford, The Miale Team sponsored the Children's Reading Partners' Virtual Holiday Book Drive in December. Thanks to the generous donations in our community, Children's Reading Partners beat its 2021 goal and successfully raised $7,000 to purchase new books for at-risk public preschool and elementary students across the Hartford area. “It was an honor to continue the book drive for its eighth consecutive year,” said Bennett Forrest, an agent on The Miale Team who chaired the drive. “Going virtual again this year allowed us to buy books wholesale and distribute them strategically — based on the needs of the individual schools, classes, and students." Administered by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Children’s Reading Partners serves at-risk students in the Greater Hartford area. The program provides one-on-one mentoring services during the school year as well as through preschool readiness and summer enrichment programs. West Hartford Holiday Stroll We had a blast participating in the annual West Hartford Holiday Stroll in December! It was a pleasure to spread holiday cheer with bags of treats for the little ones - and their four legged friends, too! After a two year hiatus due to COVID-19, what a treat it was to celebrate the holidays in West Hartford with our community!

An Oregon Family Makes a Cross Country Move to the Nutmeg State Lindsay had always dreamed of exploring a new part of the country. Born and raised in Oregon, Lindsay wasn’t sure if she was ready to take the leap until recent changes in her life motivated her to make the move to Connecticut. “After becoming a single mom by choice, with the world changing due to Covid-19, and my mom having retired early to care for my son, I decided to face my fears and take a chance at a new adventure 3,000 miles from home. I landed my dream job at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and started looking for our new home the day I accepted the job offer. We are so glad we made the move. Connecticut is now our home!” With the competitive nature of the market, Lindsay and her mother were concerned they would have to settle or sacrifice some of their criteria in a home to get an offer accepted. They reached out to Kori Gauvin-Eagle for her guidance around buying a home in the Greater Hartford area. Lindsay and her mother quickly discovered how affordable home prices were in Connecticut compared to those in Oregon. They were pleased to find they could get more home and property

[and] Kori had connections to lenders, inspectors and attorneys so we were able to connect with those companies and start the process before we ever left home.” When Lindsay looks back on the journey from Oregon to Connecticut, she’s grateful to have found the perfect home to raise her son and a place where their mischievous Goldendoodle, Gavin, can frolic and play to his heart’s content. “We absolutely love our new neighborhood! Our neighbors are so kind and have helped us feel at home and offered to help us with anything. Our home is in a cul-de-sac, which is a huge bonus for my young son. It’s going to be a great place for him to learn to ride his bike, scooter, and skateboard,” said Lindsay. “We have tons of windows and high ceilings, and the openness is absolutely fantastic. Our favorite room is our new sunroom, where we sip coffee, watch the snow fall, and the cardinals as they flit around in the trees. We have almost an acre of land which allows for a lot of privacy in our backyard and leads to daily adventures exploring and playing.”
