Getting Started with Haiku Welcome to Moriah’s new Haiku system. Although it is a powerful system, it is simple to get started. These pages contain instructions for some of the basic operations: • How to log in • What’s on the Home page • How to check for homework assignments • How to go to a class page • How to set account information and preferences If at any time you encounter difficulties, contact the IT Department at extension 319 and leave a message for: Nancy Miller (Grades 1 - 5) or Rachel Kaminetzky (Grade 6 - 8).

You will receive an email with your Haiku Username and Password. Using your favorite browser, go to moriah.haikulearning.com Enter your information on the right side of the screen and click the green “Sign In” button. The Home page will appear. Any time you want to return to the Home page click the “Home” link on the top of any page.

How to check for homework assignments: 1.

Under the calendar on the Home page is a list of assignments and events. They are color coded to the list of classes (left side on the Home page). An icon shows which are assignments and which are other things.

This shows the item is an assignment 2. Click on the assignment to open its details.

3. Click “Close” at the bottom of the assignment to see other assignments or events for that same class. 4. Click “Home” at the top of the page to return to the Home page.

If you want to see assignments for fewer classes: To temporarily hide information for a class, click on the check mark to the left of the class in the class list. To see the information again, click the box to make the check mark reappear.

If you have more that one child at Moriah, you can choose whose classes to view.

How to go to a class page: Each class has a set of pages customized by the teacher with pictures, links and other information specific to that class. To get to a class page, click on the name of the class on the Home page or select the class from the links at the top of the page.

How to set account information and preferences: The User Information page allows you to add and update personal information such as phone numbers, email addresses and a picture. Adding a mobile phone number will allow text messages to be sent to your phone. The Preferences page allows you to choose when and how to be notified of events such as changes to class pages, updates to class assignments or posts of new announcements. The links for these pages can be found at the top of the page. Just Click the arrow next to “my account�. 3
