The Music Center’s Dance DTLA draws thousands of Angelenos seeking to learn new dance steps and experience different genres from Disco and Hip-Hop to Bollywood and Salsa. Additionally, The Music Center’s Summer SoundWaves concert series delivers live music through affordable, family-friendly performances, featuring a wide range of styles including Mexican folk music, Afro Latin Jazz and more. These summer nights unite emerging and established artists, creating an unparalled experience for Angelenos of all ages.
The Music Center has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Music Center's Performing Artists in Schools and Neighborhoods offers high-energy assemblies that celebrate global cultural traditions. Student dance matinees introduce Los Angeles County students to professional dance, inspiring them to engage with movement and storytelling. Alvin Ailey educators lead curriculum-based in-school dance residencies where students learn technique, choreography and dialogue from professional dancers and choreographers through master classes.
A Leader in Dance With its Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center series of dance residencies, The Music Center collaborates with dance companies from around the globe to present powerful dance performances as well as engage the public through learning opportunities, civic dialogue, dancing and other active participation, drawing inspiration from themes found in the dance works and topics about the companies.

The Music Center’s Spotlight program provides free arts training, competition and scholarships to more than 1,500+ high school students throughout Southern California. Aspiring artists gain insights from professionals, honing their skills and life competencies. The Music Center’s Studio: Creative Futures welcomes students interested in creative careers behind-thescenes, offering them hands-on workshops, speakers, tours and artistic projects that help foster social and creative intelligence and essential workforce readiness skills.
Gloria Molina Grand Park
Powered by The Music Center, Gloria Molina Grand Park is a vibrant 12-acre, public park celebrating the county’s cultural vitality. It hosts community events, cultural experiences, holiday celebrations and many other activities that engage communities across Los Angeles.
The Music Center’s Very Special Arts Festival is an annual free, inclusive event celebrating the artistic achievements of people of all abilities. Participants and visitors gather at Jerry Moss Plaza to enjoy student and professional performances, workshops, a student art exhibit and resources from participating community groups. The Music Center's Arts Integration Partnerships foster collaboration between Music Center teaching artists and classroom teachers to empower students creativity and help students develop their artistic, workforce and life skills. This work deepens learning across the curriculum by combining dance, music, theatre, visual and media arts with content areas including English language arts, history, science and social-emotional learning for all ages and abilities.
Digital Innovation The Music Center’s Digital Innovation Initiative brings people together through participatory arts-based activities in the digital landscape, featuring collaboration among artists, technologists and members of the community. These include immersive artwork, virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive digital art and more.

The Music Center’s Spotlight The Music Center's Spotlight
The Music Center’s Spotlight program is a free, year-long, nationally recognized performing arts competition, scholarship and artistic development program for Southern California high school students. Each year, over 1,500 students participate in seven categories: Acting, Ballet, Classical Voice, Contemporary Music, Classical Music, Dance and Non Classical Voice. The program culminates in the Spotlight Grand Finale, which features 14 Grand Prize Finalists showcasing their talent on the legendary Music Center stages.
