Answer from June 24th Question of the Week: The Parks and Recreation department is responsible for all the municipal green spaces within the Town limits. Do you know how many hectares of grass the department cuts and maintains? Yes or No The parks department maintains approximately 156 hectares of grass and uses all types of lawn equipment from weed eaters, push mowers, small riding mowers, to large PTO driven tractor mowers. It takes the parks department 5 to 6 working days just to cut the grass in the

municipality with one whole day spent just doing the cemetery. Priority is always given to the most public places such as the Elks/Kinsmen (Pysanka) Park and playground areas. The DOLA (Dog off leash area) takes about 3 hours to mow and is done every 10 days. The parks department employs a total of 5 full time positions with 7 summer students during the summer season.

RJV Donates New Admission Booth to Bruce Stampede As the annual Bruce Stampede fast approaches, the Bruce Stampede Association accepted the generous donation of a much-needed new admission booth contributed by RJV services in Vegreville.

“We would like to thank RJV for the generous contribution of the admission booth to the Bruce Stampede Association,” said Robbie Chomik, president of the BSA. “Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”
