As part of Alberta’s Stage Two COVID-19 Reopening Plans, restaurants were allowed to have dine-in eating once again.

Muns Pan, who owns Chin’s Restaurant with her husband, Jin Tan said they reopened for dine-in services on June 11 and were happy to see a lot of returning customers.

“We followed social distancing where we needed to. By the early afternoon we had 14 customers who came to have coffee or dined in. We have separate tables that we use for coffee, lunch time, and dinner service.”

Emily Vincent, Manager of McDonald’s, said it was great that they were allowed to be open for dining in services.

“It was super lonely when we didn’t have all our customers dining in here. It is great to have people to talk to now. But the amount of business we had has been the same because since restaurants shut down, people turned to fast food.

Then as far as staff goes, we have the same amount of staff as before. Otherwise, we had to make changes in the spacing, making everything safe for our customers and following COVID-19 protocols.”

Mark Halabi, Co-Owner and Manager of Vito’s Steak and Pizza House said he was very happy to have reopened for in-person dining. “So far when we reopened on June 10, it has been very positive. The customers are very happy to be back.

The staff are happy to be working again. We had the same staff all along. We haven’t had to make any changes yet since we reopened but we are in the process of making some changes.”
