Christmas in November for VVA

Artwork gives people a means to look at life and nature in an unexpected way. Vegreville Visual Artists (VVA) created this new world of Christmas when they presented a wealth of artistic riches at Christmas in November (Art Show and Sale) at the Senior Citizen Sunshine Club of Vegreville on November 15 and 16.

There were 14 Vegreville Visual Artists and five students who participated in this event. New to this year’s event were sale items that were under $50. Also, a raffle table was set-up where people could purchase tickets to win a piece of art. The proceeds from the raffle will all be forwarded to Vegreville Christmas Bureau and a food bank donation collection box was also available. VVA representative, Marg Varga said this sale emphasises unique and original local art.

New VVA members who participated were Heather Paziuk and Bill Powley. Heather said she had a few of her art pieces in Vegreville Art Walk this past summer. She does mainly photography on canvas. Heather has taken pictures and has loved photography since she was a kid. She loves capturing pictures of scenery because of the colors and moods it represents. She also painted rocks and she did a few acrylic paintings. The other new VVA member, Bill was showcasing his acrylic paintings.

Also on site, artists were working on painting on posts for the Public Art Post Project which will be coming in the spring of 2020. For this, VVA will be working with Vegreville Tourism, Recreation and Culture where this artwork will be placed at different locations around the Town of Vegreville. For example, near the arena, there will be paintings about hockey and at the library there will be paintings related to the library. All the VVA members will be participating in this project.
