Walk where Mandela walked ! This holiday season suddenly came to a halt with the sad news that former president Nelson Mandela passed away on 5 December 2013. Madiba touched the hearts of so many people around the world including world leaders, celebrities, but mostly the man in the street. With Mandela’s passing, people from around the world undoubtedly would like to pay their respects to him by visiting the sites where he made history. The largest Woolworths food market in South Africa opened at Waterstone Village, Somerset West and offer shoppers in the Helderberg a “one stop” convenience throughout the festive season. No more slaving away to prepare your favourite Christmas or New Year’s dinner, Woolies has the answer! Woolworths offer customers their own comprehensive range of products, include exciting innovative ideas and more product categories, as well as favourite South African brands. One of the first things you notice is the much bigger fresh produce area, surrounded by an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. Other interactive areas include a “coffee bar’ in the coffee aisle, where customers can taste some estate and regional coffees, with the option of having beans ground to their specification. There is also a ‘freshly squeezed’ station in the produce market for freshly squeezed-on-the-spot juices and smoothies as well as an olive oil & balsamic vinegar tasting station for sampling local and imported oils and vinegars. At the butchery highly skilled butchers will debone, roll, stuff, marinate, spice, slice, cube, vacuum pack your favourite meat and at the fishmonger experts will cut, skin and fillet your choice of fish. The cheese counter is filled with an extensive range of local and imported award winning cheeses. An in-store bakery offering artisanal breads and pastries is another exciting feature of this store.
