South Africa’s favourite city of oaks, Stellenbosch, is pulling out the stops for gardeners and lovers of the great outdoors in a new, week-long festival that will transform its streets and surrounding countryside from 30 September - 10 October. Major drawcards include a first-ever Stellenbosch winelands experience featuring SA Michelin star chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen. The inaugural Garden Week Stellenbosch – inspired by the world-famous flower festival of Girona, Spain - will encompass everything from horticultural tours to landscape art; dining to hiking; and, guest specialists to music in majestic settings. In addition to a host of highlights for fans of flora and Mother Nature in general will be a flower parade, which officially launches Garden Week Stellenbosch on 30 September.
The event is an initiative of Visit Stellenbosch, a destination marketing organisation comprising the region’s tourism stakeholders with the objective of growing the tourism and experience economy in Stellenbosch for the benefit of all communities.

Garden Week takes place in the run-up to National Garden Day on 17 October. The Garden Week’s educational initiative, organised in partnership with Rama and New Life Microgreens will provide children with “Microshooters” - microgreen grow kits-in-a-tub. The project is an extension of Rama’s work with the Department of Education, undertaken since 2017 to help teach school-going children about the value of good nutrition via the Rama Good Breakfast programme. During the current public health crisis, we have grown perhaps a little too familiar with our own four walls. COVID-19 and lockdown has forced upon us a period of reflection, removing the possibility of travel in the interim due to safety concerns. Domestic leisure travellers now prefer staycations - a new travel trend, according to South African Tourism. What is a staycation? A staycation is a period in which an individual or family stays home and participates in leisure activities within day trip distance of their home and does not require overnight accommodation. It encourages the traveller to take time out, discover nearby landscapes, reconnect, and spend more time outdoors in nature with family and friends.

Grant Cardone To 10X Business & Financial Education With The Launch Of Global Entrepreneurial Hub In The Western Cape Entrepreneur, best-selling author, star of Discovery Channel’s Undercover Billionaire and founder of the 10X Movement, Grant Cardone, is on a mission to help close the socioeconomic gap in underserved communities around the world with the implementation of business and financial educational programs through his non-profit, The Grant Cardone Foundation. The Grant Cardone Foundation launched their very first global program called the 10X Hub, a mobile classroom and lab created to teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship to youth and young adults. It’s an entrepreneurial development center, a collaborative space, and a 10X mentorship hub. The 10X Hub is a traveling program that launched in the Western Cape, which has the largest concentration of fatherless adolescents in the world at 62% and one of the highest unemployment rates globally. Fatherlessness has a direct effect on economic welfare, production, the erosion of human capital, social exclusion, crime, and social instability. Grant Cardone wants to help those who may need life and career guidance just as he once did. The 10X Hub will be providing financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and mentorship programs to help level the playing field and fight poverty at its core and to create a lasting LEGACY for generations to come in these communities: Leading, Entrepreneurial, Growth, and Commitment to Youth education. “Our mission in delivering this program is to give kids and young adults, from underserved and at-risk communities around the world, the opportunity to create the life they want, not the life the system makes them think they have to settle for,” – Grant Cardone. This program will be delivered in multiple stages and facilitated in partnership with Labit, a consulting business incubator in South Africa who work to equip community-based entrepreneurs that share the vision of creating sustainable businesses and job opportunities. The 10X Hub is located in Paarl and operating within the townships of Mbekweni and Paarl East. The next micro 10X Academy will be held in Paarl from the 6-10 September. The goal of the 10X Hub program in its first 18 months will be to have 2 sustainable businesses created, 1,000 entrepreneurs trained, 100 jobs created, and 300,000 individuals signed up with access to the Cardone University educational materials. The content in Cardone University provides invaluable knowledge on how to grow and succeed in business, a resource that would not be traditionally accessible in these communities. After the opening of the The 10X Hub in South Africa it will then travel to different African townships. Simultaneously, The Grant Cardone Foundation will be developing a similar 10X Hub in the United States in 2022. AAC Clyde Space Starts AAC Space Africa AAC Clyde Space, a leading New space company, today announced it has founded AAC Space Africa to capitalize on the rapidly growing market for satellites and space services in Africa. AAC Space Africa will design, build, and deliver space missions to the continent from its Cape Town base in South Africa’s Western Cape Province. The new subsidiary will also be the group’s centre of competence for advanced radio communication. The new company will be managed by Dr Robert Van Zyl as Managing Director and Francois Visser as Technical Director. They bring more than 40 years of small satellite experience to the company, having pioneered the African CubeSat industry through several missions, including the first CubeSat launched by the continent.
Their expertise spans all facets of New space technologies, with a special focus on communications. The team will initially focus on radio communication systems as well as sales and marketing. The team is expected to grow quickly in the coming year to meet demand from the African space economy, which is set to grow to $10 billion by 2024 (NewSpace Africa Industry Report 2019). “The need for space services in Africa is growing rapidly as Government, companies and communities seek efficient ways to support development and build out crucial infrastructure. We see great potential for small satellites to provide timely, accurate and targeted data for sectors such as weather forecasting, ocean monitoring, agricultural planning, and land management. The ability to provide data from space and monitor key issues across the continent will help Africa develop at a far more rapid pace over the next decade. Re-Opening Of Deer Park Section Of Table Mountain National Park South African National Parks (SANParks) is pleased to announce the re-opening of Deer Park in the Northern Section of Table Mountain National Park following its closure in April due to the devastating fire that destroyed more than 650 hectares of land. The rehabilitation work has been successfully completed and the contractor was appointed to fell and remove dangerous trees. Frans van Rooyen, TMNP Park Manager says, “To date 118 dead and dangerous trees were felled and they produced a total of 472 (3m) logs, ranging from 19cm -96cm and the total volume of wood = 200.6 m3 was removed. This process has allowed us to invite members of the public to collect wood and this has helped us with the restoration process. To reduce fuel load the wood permit was issued and other wood was delivered to Redhill and Imizamo Yethu settlement areas.”

The fuel reduction, wood collection and road maintenance will still continue for the next two months. This will be done while the area is open to the public and we kindly request visitors to exercise caution during this time. Welcome back to Cape Town, Emirates Airlines! On 11 August the airline’s first flight in several months flew in from Dubai. While international passenger volumes at Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) are at about 9 000 passengers per day, down from 15 000 prior to the third wave, Cape Town International Airport has seen a steady increase since the country returned to an adjusted Alert Level 3 lockdown. With more international airlines such as Emirates coming back on board, we are sure to see that number increase significantly. “These renewed flights signal our important connection with Dubai and will be a further boost in stimulating travel and trade between our regions. Our two great cities have forged a strong relationship, one which was made official in 2019, when I was fortunate enough to be present in Dubai for the signing of a sister-city agreement.

These Bummels Are Made For Walking! “These Bummels are made for walking,” says a happy customer in Cape Town. It all started when Michael’s father, Rolf, of German descent, set up his own business in 1990 and became the founder of Der Lederhändler, a manufacturer of leather products in George. It is in this environment of creative craftsmanship that Michael grew up. “I have a passion to make beautiful quality leather shoes, and the German in me is passionate about quality.” In his own words Michael reveals: “At Bummel we make the most comfortable handcrafted leather shoes. It is all leather - leather uppers, leather insoles, and leather linings that is made of local leather to last, providing the best in quality and stitching.

With a father, designing and making shoes for the past 40 years, Michael stepped in to learn the trade, while working with his father. In the back of his mind, he had a dream to become the owner of his own Shoe Boutique one day. It is the German character in Michael that made him passionate about quality. Who better than his father could have advised him to engage in an apprenticeship in Germany where he was taught how to operate every machine in the field of manufacturing leather shoes? After his apprenticeship he studied shoe design. The completion of his internship took him to Kennel and Schmenger in Germany. Thereafter he joined Watson Shoes in South Africa, where he specialized in designing and making men’s, woman’s and children’s shoes.
In 2018 Michael left Watson Shoes and set up his own business, Bummel Shoes in George in the manufacturing of hand-made high-quality attention-to-detail leather shoes. The quality of these hand-crafted Bummel Shoes can only be illustrated against the experience he attained in this field. “I design shoes, yet, I also have the skills to machine, and make the shoes I design,” Michael says. However, when disaster strikes one is left with the question? “Why me?” But a disastrous fire does not always impact one’s business forever. “There is nothing I can do without God – even the disastrous fire we recently experienced, destroying stock and leather, was a blessing in disguise. The fire stopped production which provided us time to upgrade their factory, something we never before had the time to do,” Michael continues.

The world of work has changed irrevocably over the past year and a half, and so have the skills employers are now looking for when scouring the CVs of prospective candidates. It is therefore crucial for those looking to land their first job post-graduation, people who are looking to re-enter the job market, and those wanting to move on to a new challenge, to update their CVs to reflect how they are able to bring newly desirable skills to a position.
Three community-run businesses in the Overberg’s Stanford Valley are now working together to help save South Africa’s unique Capensis honeybee and uplift their farm workers.
“The logistics of the workplace during Covid has cast a spotlight on a number of skills which previously were nice-to-have, but now have become very important to keep the ship moving despite disruption and upheaval,” says Peter Kriel, General Manager at The Independent Institute of Education, SA’s largest and most accredited private higher education provider. Kriel says some of the skills that employers will be looking for in future, include a candidate’s ability to be resilient and work under pressure, to work independently, and to be comfortable in the online environment in terms of submitting work, responding to feedback, and participating effectively in meetings.
Lomond Wine Estate, Stonehouse Cheese Estate, and honeybee conservancy Honeybee Heroes - all located within a few kilometres of the small Overberg village of Stanford - have recently forged a new partnership in an effort to produce new homes for thousands of honeybees, while providing additional income to their employees and educating local consumers on the importance of ethically-sourced food products. Honeybees are an essential part of food production worldwide, pollinating most of the world’s fruits, vegetables, nuts and more. But due to farming and beekeeping malpractice, habitat loss, and climate change, honeybees are at risk globally. South Africa’s honeybee species, Apis mellifera capensis, or “Capensis”, is a particularly vulnerable species. Honeybee Heroes will be placing micro-apiaries of 20 honeybee hives each on both estates, to be run by estate staff.
“The trick is to look back over the past year, and find examples from your work or study life to demonstrate how your experiences and actions match the above skills. Great managers have also learnt and grown over the past year, and don’t expect emotionless super-humans who didn’t miss a step during the pandemic. However if you dig deep, you will find instances where you rose to the challenge, and perhaps moved beyond what you thought you were capable of. In addition to job-relevant technical qualifications from a respected institution, you can really set yourself apart in the job market now by highlighting those skills which will provide a measure of confidence in the hiring manager, that you will be able to keep going even while challenging external circumstances remain or re-appear down the line.” Kriel says students looking to land their first position after graduation, can use examples from how they successfully managed their educational journey during lockdown, if they were able to do so. Additionally, they can reflect on work done under these challenging circumstances, and especially if they are able to demonstrate success achieved in work-integrated learning assignments. For people already working who want to make a change or apply for a promotion, they can try to find concrete examples from how they managed during lockdowns. “A very important consideration now is also to look toward the future, to identify any skills shortages you might have given the new environment, or which additional skills will make you more attractive in a tough job-market,” says Kriel. “In the past, specialist skills were paramount, but now, regardless of your field, everyone has to be a generalist as well. That means you have to demonstrate that you are able to not only use the tools of your trade, but that you can apply them strategically, by using complementary skills. Your strength as a candidate no longer comes just from your main field of focus, but from the unique combination of skills you bring to the table.”
These staff members will be equipped by Honeybee Heroes’ expert beekeepers with the necessary gear and training to care for the hives and safely extract honey from healthy colonies. The hives will be frequently assessed and appropriately certified by Honeybee Heroes as being ethically and sustainably harvested. Both estates intend to allow visitors to view the hives in order to learn more about sustainable beekeeping, and will sell honey from the hives in their shops. Interested visitors can sponsor one of these hives for R2 000 and will receive 3kg of Honeybee Heroes raw honey and select Lomond or Stonehouse products. With 150 hectares of vineyards and over 1 000 hectares of indigenous fynbos, Lomond Wine Estate is active in a number of sustainability projects, including a sustainable trout fishery. Three micro-apiaries will be placed on Lomond land, each to be managed by a different Lomond farm worker and their family living on property, who will take a small percentage of the proceeds of the honey sold from the hives to supplement their annual income. A fourth Lomond apiary will be established in nearby Gansbaai on Romansbaai Estate. These hives will be cared for by a longtime Romansbaai staff member who lives on property. Stonehouse Cheese Estate is a family-owned sustainable dairy farm in Stanford and will host two Honeybee Heroes micro-apiaries. Bridge Worth R130m Officially Opened
Nature Reserve Is Now A Provincial Heritage Site
The R130 million new Ashton Arch Bridge was officially opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde together with Transport and Public Works MEC Daylin Mitchell. The new tied-arch bridge was launched into its final position in less than 24 hours on Saturday, August 14, a first of this kind of construction in Africa.
The Blaauwberg Nature Reserve is situated off Melkbosstrand Road and the R27 in Blaauwberg and represents one of the most intact and diverse lowland vegetation habitats in Cape Town, marking the beginning of the West Coast flora region. The reserve contains approximately 1 445 hectares of rich biodiversity, and protects three threatened vegetation types, including the endangered Cape Flats Dune Strandveld, on the coastal plain, critically endangered Swartland Shale renosterveld, on the hill, and critically endangered Cape Flats Sand Fynbos, inland from the hill. The Blaauwberg Hill, which forms part of the nature reserve, offers one of the few viewpoints in the world from which two World Heritage Sites - Table Mountain and Robben Island – can be seen. The Blaauwberg Nature Reserve presents a rich cultural and historical heritage of various periods in history. Shell middens dating back to approximately 15 000 years have been observed, indicating early human occupation. In addition, the reserve conserves the site of the Battle of Blaauwberg in 1806, where the British took second occupation of the Cape and retained ownership until South Africa’s independence. Blaauwberg Hill features several buildings constructed during World War II, one of which includes the first radar station built in South Africa.
The Ashton Arch, located in the small town of Ashton is South Africa’s first concrete-tied arch bridge constructed using a transverse launching method. It replaces an existing multiarch bridge that was built in the 1930s. It is an important tourist destination along the national road crossing the Cogmanskloof River. The construction of this world-class infrastructure project that created more than 500 work opportunities for local residents commenced five years ago. To minimise traffic disruption, the new bridge was constructed adjacent to the existing one thereby maintaining traffic over it.
The battle of Blaauwberg was a turning point in the history of the Cape Colony and South Africa in general. The Blaauwberg Nature Reserve over and above being a significant natural heritage site contains the battleground and field hospital associated with the Battle of Blaauwberg that took place in 1806. The National Monuments Council declared the battle site a conservation area in 1996 under the National Monuments Act. The site includes the landscape where the events around the Battle of Blaauwberg took place, including the iconic Blaauwberg Hill, the battlefield and the site of the field hospital.
After completion, the new bridge has been used as temporary bypass/river crossing while the existing bridge was demolished, and new abutments built. The modern state-of-the-art structural components were designed, manufactured and installed using complex techniques. These included the concrete arch ribs, post-tensioned tie beams, stay anchors and cables as well as the transverse launching equipment which had to be specially imported. Using a transverse launching method for a completed concrete tied-arch road bridge is a first in South Africa. More than 8 000 tons of concrete and steel were moved over a distance of 24m in less than 24 hours after several years of meticulous planning, design and construction. The new tied-arch bridge comprises a cable-supported concrete deck which spans 110m between supports with arching ribs rising 22m above the asphalt road surface. The original earth-filled multiple-arch bridge was constructed in 1930 for singlelane traffic. In 1950, a substantial structural retro fitment that allowed two-way single carriageway vehicular and pedestrian traffic was undertaken. The 1950 upgrade was, however, retained at an elevation which still resulted in overtopping with enhanced flood risk to the road and adjacent residential properties. The high river debris load combined with deep deck and wide solid wall piers, orientated at unfavourable skew angles relative to the flow direction, exacerbated the effects of flooding. The objective of this project was to reconstruct parts of Trunk Road 31 Sections 2 and 3, from Ashton to Montagu (start of tourist Route 62) to a higher standard to improve traffic and pedestrian safety as well as improve flood capacity of bridges and resistance to overtopping of the road at several problem locations. This included the Cogmanskloof River crossing in Ashton which has experienced substantial flood damage on several occasions.
The reserve contains Middle Stone Age and Late Stone Age occurrences, which contribute to the understanding of the occupation of the South-Western Cape by the indigenous groups over time. The Muslim community of Cape Town, many of whom were slaves, were granted their own burial ground (Tana Baru) in recognition of their contribution in the defence of the Cape against the British during the Battle of Blaauwberg.
Proposals To Halt Decline Of African Penguin Population Developed
Key fishing industry and conservation stakeholders were part of high level meeting hosted by the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Barbara Creecy, to discuss proposals made to address the decline in the breeding populations of the African Penguin, on the one hand, while on the other, attempting to minimise the negative economic impact of such proposals on South Africa’s pelagic fishery.
If current population trajectories continue, African penguins could be functionally extinct within 15 years. The African penguin was classified as Endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2010. Earlier this year, the Minister set up a joint task team from the Department and SANPARKS to determine management options for the African Penguin based on available evidence, and NEMA principles of conservation, precautionary approach and balancing ecological and socio-economic interests. The Team provided a synthesis of scientific information on African penguins, fisheries and island closures. The process followed recognised that the African penguin population is in a critical situation and urgent action is needed to stop further decline. It is also recognised interventions around breeding colonies will need limit economic implications for the Small Pelagic Fishery sector. The colonies identified for intervention are at Dassen Island, Robben Island, Stony Point, and Dyer, St. Croix and Bird Islands. These are not the only existing colonies, but have been identified because they support larger numbers of breeding penguins. Together these islands are home to about 88% of breeding pairs of African Penguins along the South African coastline.
African penguins are an iconic Southern African species with important ecological roles. They attract significant national and international tourists annually. The endemic African penguin numbers have declined drastically from approximately 52 000 pairs in 2004 to 13 200 pairs in 2019.
The African Penguin population is exposed to a multitude of stressors. These include a lack of available food, predation, climate change, disease, disturbance, shipping vessel activity, competition with other predators for food, as well as the availability and quality of breeding habitat. These may all have individual, combined and cumulative impacts on the penguins. The Minister intends to finalise the modalities of the interventions around the colonies in consultation with affected stakeholders.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
WHAT IS POPIA? You hold personal information about customers, leads, employees, suppliers and so forth. The POPIA law is about keeping that information private. POPIA defines personal information as follows: “Information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person, or an identifiable, existing juristic person.(A juristic person is an entity created by law, like a company). The Information Regulator: Juristic person to be known as the Information Regulator. The Information Regulator has jurisdiction throughout the Republic of South Africa. The Information Regulator is Independent and is subject only to the Constitution and to the law, must be impartial and perform its functions and exercise its powers without fear, favour, or prejudice. The Information Regulator must exercise its powers and perform its functions in accordance with Section 39 of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and the Promotion of Access to the Information Act and is Accountable to the National Assembly. The Information Officer: A person appointed to implement the protection of the privacy of Personal Information is the Responsible Party on behalf of the Company and needs to comply with the POPI Act (Section 1 of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013).
DATE BREACH PREVENTION BY SECURING THE INFORMATION YOU PROCESS Most of the work you do is from your laptop, smartphone, tablet or even remotely. This makes life easier right? In terms of POPIA if your devices are not documented, encrypted and your employees do not follow the correct policies it can land you into hot water with the Information Regulator, should any data breaches occur. Here is some information as to how you can better secure your devices. Password Management - Vegetables of the internet. We know they’re good for us, but most of us are happier snacking on the password equivalent of junk food - “123456” and “password”. These are the two most commonly used passwords. A password manager is essentially an encrypted digital vault that stores secure password logins. Your password manager is accessed by creating a unique master password that only you know and have access to. Your master password unlocks your digital vault of secure passwords. Device Encryption - All your data gets stored on some media or platform. It is your responsibility to ensure data is safeguarded. Unencrypted - Not converted into a code that would prevent unauthorized access. In the wrong hands your data is compromised, which is data breach in terms of the POPIA. You must report such a breach to the Information Regulator. You must notify every data subject whose data was on that device/platform that you may have exposed their personal information. Encrypted - Into a code, especially to prevent unauthorized access. If such an encrypted device is lost or stolen, then nobody can see what’s on the device. Having devices encrypted will ensure that your data will not be compromised, when lost or stolen. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) - The easiest and most effective way for people to protect their internet traffic and keep their identities private online. As you connect to a secure VPN server, your internet traffic goes through an encrypted tunnel that nobody can see into, this includes hackers, governments, and your internet service provider. Antivirus - Devices connected to the internet are under constant attack. There are many antivirus software that can protect your systems against a variety of threats, including malicious software, such as, viruses worms, trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits, bots, keyloggers, mobile malware and ransomware.
POPIA DOCUMENTATION & IMPLEMENTATION In order to comply with the POPIA, you need to ensure the right information is documented. Company, Employee, and Data Subjects policies need to be created to process information. An example of a data subject is your accountant or an IT firm that processes your personal information on a regular basis. It is essential that data subjects comply with POPIA and sign company policies that state that the personal information you have granted them access to, is safeguarded. On 22 June 2021 the Information Regulator issued a statement requesting that companies focus on data protection first. The Information Regulators online registration portal for Information Officers is not yet fully functional. It is best to get policies in place for the company, employees and data subjects to ensure that no data breaches occur. Each company will need to Register an Information Officer with the Information Regulator. In most cases the Director of the company will be the responsible Information Officer. Planning Full Steam Ahead For Sanlam Cape Town Marathon The organisers of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon have confirmed that the planning for the event is full steam ahead and that the plans have seen a major overhaul to ensure the safety of all participants. The Risk Mitigation Plan includes several adjustments to this year’s event format.
Seeding will be based on past race results, not limited to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. Runners’ finishing time will be calculated from mat-to-mat and not gun-to-mat. The final cut-off is still six-and-a-half hours, and will be based on the last group of runners starting the race.
Changes to the Marathon: Marathon entries will be limited to 12,000 runners only. The Start will move from Beach Road to Fritz Sonnenberg Road, with participants joining their start batches on the Cape Town Stadium Forecourt. A staggered start will see runners setting off in seeded batched groups, allowing for ample social distancing, between 06h15 and 06h50.
Compulsory COVID Antigen Testing - In order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, all runners and crew will undergo COVID-19 Antigen testing in the 72 hours prior to the race. Testing will be compulsory regardless of vaccination status, and free of charge. Runners will be tested at Cape Town Stadium before entering the Expo space to collect their race numbers. Antigen test results will be available within 15 minutes. Trail Runs Going Ahead; 5km & 10km Peace Runs Go Virtual. “Due to COVID restrictions, we are sadly required to cancel the 5km and 10km Peace Runs, but the good news is that these events will take place in virtual format, and runners can run the Peace Runs along their favourite running routes, no matter where they are. The all-new 46km Cape Town Trail Marathon and 22km Trail Run will still go ahead on 16 October,” says Sanlam Cape Town Marathon General Manager, Barry van Blerk. The 5km & 10km Virtual Peace Runs will be free of charge. Runners can simply enter via www.capetownmarathon.com to receive App Download instructions. All 5km and 10km Peace Run entrants will receive a refund, and an email with detailed instructions will be sent to all affected runners. Runners still hoping to be part of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon must hurry, as the revised entry limits mean that the marathon field is already 50% full. 2021 E-BIKE FNB WINES2WHALES SWITCHBACK The FNB Wines2Whales Switchback has two exclusive E-Bike categories in the 2021 Pinotage event. The growth in E bikes have been phenomenal and it’s been a critical trend in cycling, including mountain biking. In 2019 we introduced the E-bike Tour at the FNB W2W Pinotage and received an overwhelmingly positive response. This year we are building on lessons learnt with the introduction of an exciting new start group, the E-bike Race. This will be a fun race for those riders really wanting to spike their adrenaline and push their limits. According to Johan Kriegler, founder of the W2W events, you need to be a very skilled mountain biker to participate in the Race category. The speed and power at which you fly through single tracks, switchbacks and berms, is an exhilarating experience and certainly not for the faint hearted, nor for the lesser skilled. The E-Bike Racers can test their skills and speed against each other, without interfering with any mountain bikers in the other categories. Riders in both categories don’t have to worry too much about available battery power as they’ll have the opportunity to drop a fully charged second battery at the Race Office, before their starts.
