Through travel, culture and architecture, the client, Laura, gains inspiration for her work. She seeks to merge her background of fashion and architecture through her current fashion line, DECOline. The store, Laura Tarquinio, references a museum and spa that is high end yet accessible. The space is ordered and bright, utilizing filtered natural light as well as strategically placed artificial light. An elegant material palatte of travertine, concrete and Venetian plasters become progressively lighter and more refined ascending from the lower level to the mezzanine.
Inspiration image from client that inspired the design. Image was also incorporated into the ground level east wall.

Our class designed and constructed renovations through the Iowa State University Recreation Services for the Cap Timm Baseball Field consisting of architects, landscape architects, interior designers and industrial designers. We had to design and renovate the complex as well as commemorate Leroy “Cap” Timm. He was the longest tenured college baseball coach for the Iowa State Cyclones. The areas I helped with were demolition, creating the net and dugout metal parts, building the foundation walls, installing the rusted metal dugout back pieces, and from there I jumped around to areas that needed assistance.

The cafe is on the Iowa State University campus that will be used for students, facility, and staff. We were given art to use as the inspiration for the cafe. The art is “Untitled” by Anselm Kiefer, which shows railroad tracks, a direct reference to the Holocaust. The cafe will incorporate the outdoors through texture, color, plants and the columns that are to look like trees.
