PODCAST

It is an independent program that tackles topics specific to black women with over 85k streams and listeners from France, to Senegal and Canada.

Thé Noir (translate: Black Tea) is a pioneer of the Frenchspeaking black podcast.

Hosted by Ndaya and Néné, two women who have identified the impact that their intimate conversations could have if shared with a whole community: AfroFrench women.

It is from an intersectional point of view, that they speak with no taboo about women's issues with what their African upbringing and cultures have brought as a variation to the Western discourse on the same themes.

Ndaya and Néné create, record, edit and manage their platforms in selfproduction. They remain in control of its messages and the essence of the content.

Néné

With a scientific education, Néné is now an entrepreneur in women's and children's health and well-being. She brings clear and verified arguments when our topics are about health. She is also a photographer and does all the shoots for the communication of the podcast. Fond of black and white (check out her Instagram feed!), beautiful lingerie, piercing, good food and hot baths; she is the patient sister/friend who does not judge but is there to help first.

Ndaya nicknamed her "IFOP“ because of her extreme patience (public opinion research institute)

A hippie at heart, Ndaya is a filmmaker/screenwriter who loves topics of the head, body and mind. With a background in communications, she likes to bring a creative touch to the messages the podcast conveys.

Absolute loner, loves ramen, yoga and Cartoon Network, she is the caring sister/friend who will not hesitate to hold you accountable, even if sometimes a little abrupt...) Nene calls her "Bully".

« We strive for the empowerment of black women »

Over the course of the episodes, we have managed to create a real sense of belonging. Many listeners refer to us as “sisters” or “girlfriends”. We are delighted that our listeners often contact us on social networks for advice/guidance on their issues without holding back.

We want to encourage self discovery and self knowledge by debating the causes and consequences of our actions across all of our platforms.

Addressing black identities as heterogeneous is essential. We believe that controlled representativeness is essential to emancipation. Addressing taboos on sexuality, preventing, sharing and guiding. Debunking the paradox linked to our double identity.

Today, the website www.thenoirpodcast.com also embodies this ideology. More than an accomplishment, it is an impetus towards our major ambition: to become a pillar of audiovisual for the black female diaspora.

Ambitions

10 Our

In four points

1) Spreading joy and empathy

We are convinced that radical joy is an act of resistance.

2) Celebrating Black Women's Plurality

3) Freeing up the word

By breaking taboos, as it is partly because of them that we are among the communities with the most trauma to heal. Silence, shame and lack of information benefit the oppressors and hinder the full emancipation of women.

4) Occupying the space

Too often used as a token in the French and Francophone media world, we want to promote and support creations made by us and for us in all creative fields.

It's true that our black identity ties us to a common ground, to echoing experiences, but we are also queer, fat, disabled, straight, wiry, atheist, trans (and more)... We believe that each of these intersections deserves its own visibility and audience.
