Our meetings addressed a variety of operational topics and incorporated this year’s theme of Positivity. To show our deep gratitude for the extraordinary achievements of hourly staff, we continue our TNG Cares Award to recognize those who represent the spirit of working together as a whole, in various categories. Stay tuned in future editions for award winners! As always, I would be remiss if I did not extend my appreciation to each of you. Thank you for your

SEMINAR 2023

This year’s theme was Positivity! TNG continues to focus on training our management team while keeping a positive, happy and optimistic attitude in our units. We reflected on Jon Gordon’s book The Positive Dog as part of our inspiration for this year’s theme.

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. The 2023 NSLW theme was Level UP with School Lunch and was celebrated October 9-13. Students were able to “Level Up” with many fun events held throughout TNG cafeterias.

TNG | THIS AND THAT

FORMAL COMPLAINT Hi Kelly and Randy, I am emailing to lodge a formal complaint about the Apple Bread Pudding that Randy sent over this morning. The complaint is that the dessert was too delicious, and I have had three of them. If you expect your superintendent to remain slim and trim, you have to cease and desist from bringing over tasty treats like that, whichprofessionally- I am obligated to try as Superintendent. Please consider sending over something less delicious, like a kale puffball. Sincerely, Dr. Peiffer

sharing fun finds across our schools!

Woodland Hills - Ambassador Visit What an incredible evening as WHSD celebrates international diversity. We had a guest of honor, Her Excellency, Mmasegkoa Masire-Mwamba, the Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana to the Kingdom of Belgium. The evening started with food dishes from around the world, provided by The Nutrition Group. The celebration continued with music from a mariachi band, bagpipes, and our own amazing school band. There was wonderful discussion with her Excellency, and the night concluded with fireworks. We are honored to be a part of such an amazing night.

Shamokin Middle/HS celebrated National Apple Day with the district’s PA Preferred vendor. Guests of honor included Representative Joanne Stehr who visited with a representative from Culvers office as well. We showcased many different apple varieties, all made possible by Dries Orchard in Sunbury. We also celebrated with our Tasty Bite recipe, Apple Nachos!!
