Abroad but locked in
OSU’s Chloe Blue’s Experience in France By Ellen Slater

When Chloe Blue started planning to study abroad during the spring 2021 semester, she never would have imagined that it would be amid a worldwide pandemic. The Oklahoma State junior started preparing to study abroad back in fall 2019. Blue was assigned to the University of Grenoble Alpes in Grenoble, France. There was a time when she was not sure if she would be able to go abroad due to the pandemic, but because of Oklahoma State deeming her studies in France as essential, she was a part of a fraction of students that were able to carry on with their travel plans. Blue is a French
major, which is why OSU deemed her studies in France essential. She is the only OSU student who is studying abroad at this particular university this semester. While her classmates back in Stillwater are taking precautions in classes with socially distanced seating and mask-wearing, Blue’s precautions across the world are looking even more strict. “All of my classes are online because the French government has all universities shut nationally,” Blue said. “It’s so different. There’s actually rules and measures in place here, and people follow them way more than in Oklahoma.” Blue’s area is currently in a lockdown that will probably last See Abroad on pg. 2
