OSU students to receive COVID-19 vaccine in phase three of state's distribution plan

Marcus Trevino Oklahoma State University students will receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the third phase of the State Department of Health’s distribution plan. The plan estimates over a million people in Oklahoma educational settings will need to receive the vaccine. Specific dates or time frames won’t be determined until federal production expenses are known. OSU Health Services has a vaccine distribution agreement in place with the Payne County Health Department, public information officer Shannon Rigsby said. “It is anticipated that University Health Services clinical staff will distribute vaccines to early stage eligible university community members,” Rigsby said. “As volumes grow in later phases, the university will rely on resources at the county level to assist with large scale distribution to campus.” More information on locations and processes will be announced at a later, unspecified date. OSU will launch a web page devoted to vaccine distribution information that will be updated with additional information when available. This story will be updated. news.ed@ocolly.com

Two familiar foes Gundy and Diaz add another chapter to their history with Cheez-It Bowl matchup By Dean Ruhl For the first time as head coaches, Mike Gundy and Manny Diaz face off. Gundy, the established head coach at Oklahoma State, has guided the Cowboys to their 15th straight bowl game and will face off against Diaz, who is in his second season at the helm of Miami. This will be the latest chapter in the two coaches’ history, one in which they have seen each other to varying degrees multiple times since the turn of the century. “He was in our league for a while,” Gundy said. “I know they were excited with him being from

down in that area. We’re excited about playing.” The two’s history can be traced back to when Diaz was a graduate assistant at Florida State in 1998, while Gundy was a wide receiver coach at Maryland during this time in which the two schools matchedup against each other twice during their tenures. Over the next decade, the two found new homes and schools, with Gundy assuming the role of head coach at OSU in 2005 and Diaz accepting a defensive coordinator position at Texas in 2011.
