Avery’s big day Anderson propels short-handed Cowboys past West Virginia
Ryan Breeden Oklahoma State had a tall task in its regular season finale: Travel to play No. 6 WVU, and do it without Cade Cunningham. Not many Cowboy fans expected OSU to win with Cunningham sidelined because of an ankle sprain suffered in the final minute against Baylor. But Avery Anderson III decided this was gonna be his moment. “When (Mike Boynton) was talking about how Cade wasn’t playing, I just knew I had to be a bigger leader in leading the team on both ends of the floor,” Anderson said. Anderson exploded offensively, scoring a career high 31 points on 11-of-14 from the field. With his leadership and scoring capabilities, OSU walked out of Morgantown with an 85-80 win. Since the start of the season, Anderson has gotten better and better. It all spear-

try,” Boynton said. “I think he’s the most improved player in our league by far and today was an example. I thought today, knowing what the mo-

Ending period poverty, period. By Samantha Sanchez Branching from the Student Government Association, the Red Pantry Committee has opened facilities at the Student Union, the Family Resource Center, and Our Daily Bread, to provide menstrual hygiene products to those experiencing period poverty. Easily accessible and free menstrual hygiene products are becoming more available on campus as the Red Pantry makes efforts to ease the demand for period supplies. “I read an article in my junior year about research conducted in the United States about period poverty, and that was a phrase I’d never heard before. It is something that you would read about thinking it might be in a different country but not in the United States, so realizing that that was still a problem here and it was not being addressed in Oklahoma, within Stillwater, that’s when I knew that I had an area that I could make a positive change in,” Seraiah Coe, a senior in Ecology and Head of the Red Pantry Committee, said. Oklahoma State students who are in-
volved with the Red Pantry have been working hard, even before the pandemic hit, to alleviate the need for supplies. “We had our first meetings last spring, and then, by the start of this spring, there were pantries in place on campus with items in them, and that progress, that quickly, is just not typical,
everybody,” Aubrey Craig, a strategic communications freshman and Secretary of the Red Pantry said. Besides the fundraisers, grants and donations that Red Pantry receives to give back to those in need, they aspire to diversify their influence in the educational aspect with the hopes of informing people about period poverty and its prominence in the community. “We are prepping educational materials to be spread throughout campus and the Stillwater community. Right now, we are also working on the Red Pantry Menstrual Hygiene Accessibility and Awareness week which will be March 29 through April 2. And we are working for the events for those right now,” Rosa Graham, plant biology Photo Courtesy: Red Pantry Committee junior and Education and Awareness Chair for the Red Pantry, said. so I was so surprised sible to aid the cause.
