OSU announces finalists for new provost Teyte Holcomb Lifestyle Editor
OSU has announced the finalists for the new provost. Earlier this semester, OSU announced a national search for a new provost to handle academic affairs after Gary Sandefur retired from the position. A committee of 24 individuals were selected to conduct interviews and review potential candidates for the position. The committee has narrowed the selection down to three individuals, one of which will take on the position. The three candidates will be on campus for interviews in May. Sessions for the candidates will be live-streamed for faculty, staff and students on May 3, May 4 and May 10. news.ed@ocolly.com

While their names were not called at the podium in Las Vegas, a group of Cowboys’ dreams will still come true. With the conclusion of the NFL draft on Saturday afternoon, seven Cowboys were signed by NFL teams as undrafted free agents. OSU’s leading pass catcher, Tay Martin will head back out to the west coast, signing with the San Francisco 49ers. Jaylen Warren, OSU’s breakout running back in 2021, signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his backfield teammate LD Brown signed with the New York Jets. Safety Kolby Harvell-Peel will return to his home state after signing with the Houston Texans, and offensive lineman Josh Sills is the newest member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Defensive lineman Israel Antwine was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and safety Tre Sterling signed with the Green Bay Packers despite missing most of the 2021 season. sports.ed@ocolly.com

Doersching leads OSU comeback in win over Texas Daniel Allen Staff Reporter
Griffin Doersching sat on a pitch hanging over the middle of home plate. OSU’s designated hitter stepped forward and with all his might, swung at a hanging breaking ball. Moments later he watched the ball sail well over the left field wall at UFCU Disch-Falk Stadium. A euphoric sense of emotion rushed through Doersching as he rounded third base after his grand slam to give OSU a lead over the Longhorns in its 10-8 win over Texas on Sunday. “It felt really good,” Doersching said. “It’s one of the best feelings I think I’ll ever get. I was just doing whatever I needed to do to help my team win.” Ironically, he faced an eerily similar situation just an inning ago. Doersching, with the bases loaded and his team down seven runs, pulled a ball foul, slightly missing the foul pole along the left field line. On the ensuing pitch, Doersching swung and missed at a breaking ball, ending the top of the sixth inning for OSU and left the Cowboys empty. “It’s actually funny… well kind of,” Doersching said. “I went into the dugout after I struck out with the bases loaded and talked with Matt (Holliday). I said, ‘I know I can do it, I want to, I really want to do it’. He just told me that I’ll get my opportunity again.” The opportunity came. Doersching’s seventh inning heroics propelled the Cowboys to 10 runs in the top half of the inning. OSU’s coach Josh Holliday said Sunday’s win is the epitome of his Cowboy baseball team. Holliday claimed it properly displayed the team’s passion, grit and overall will to win. “Our kids just hung in there, fought and came out on top,” Holliday said. “They’re evolving into a really outstanding, winning team. Today was a very unique game and I was pleased with how our team fought it out.” During the course of the series, the Cowboys accumulated a total of 32 runs in three games. Holliday said he believes his team’s offensive potential was on full display this weekend. “In the middle of the game, down seven runs, we could have folded,” Holliday said. “And we didn’t. We battled back and (then had) a 10 run inning. I’m just proud of these kids. Today’s win was huge for us as a team.” sports.ed@ocolly.com

Harper selected by Cowboys, second OSU linebacker drafted Dean Ruhl Sports Editor Devin Harper gets to stay a Cowboy. On Saturday, Harper, OSU’s starting linebacker, was selected 193rd overall in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Harper’s selection came five spots after his teammate, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, was drafted by the Detroit Lions. Harper spent six seasons with the Cowboys, studying under linebackers like Justin Phillips and Amen Ogbongbemiga before elevating into a starting spot this past year. Last season, he set careerhighs in tackles (95), tackles for loss (11) and sacks (6.0) with OSU. Harper is the second linebacker selected by Dallas in this year’s draft, joining LSU’s Damone Clark. sports.ed@ocolly.com

WHEN IS LITTLE MUCH?
There is a short chorus that has encouraged me many times. “Little is much if God is in it. Labor not for wealth or fame. There’s a crown and you can win it. If you go in Jesus’ name.” The woman, who poured the precious ointment on Jesus just before he was crucified, was criticized for “wasting” this expensive item. Yet, Jesus said everywhere the gospel is preached this woman’s action would be told. (Mk 14:3-9) Little things mean a lot as we are willing to serve the Lord. Paul mentions many in Romans 16 who helped him. The Good Samaritan stopped to help the man beaten and robbed. (Lu.10:30-37) Paul writes as you have opportunity, do good to all men, especially to other believers.(Gal.6:10) When the poor widow dropped the two pennies, all that she had, into the temple offering. Jesus said she gave more the large offerings given. Her “large giving” was in relation to what she had. (Mk.12:41-44)
Many people may plan to give when they receive a great amount of money, but that large amount of money may never come. We may plan to give time or talent to a project when we have more time, but that perfect time arrangement may never happen. Again, the apostle Paul encourages us “as you have opportunity, do good to all men.” We never know when a little gesture of kindness, with money, or helping in an area of service, spending a little time with a person, a word of encouragement, will be just the action that will be a great help to someone. These can be practical ways of living out the Lord’s challenge to love one another. This is the fulfilling of the many commandments in the Bible: loving people by word and action.

I found myself, in a few points during my watch, getting goosebumps due to the combination of the score and the magnitude of what was being displayed to me in the moment. One such moment is whenever we finally see what happened in the desert when Marc was near death before being saved by Khonshu. The exchange of dialogue between a vulnerable and broken Marc Spector and a vengeful and manipulative Khonshu, in unison with great visuals, is easily one of the best moments of the episode and series, for me, in a show that has had an abundance of great moments. Now that we find ourselves with a lot of answers to earlier questions, we still have the question of what happens to Marc now in the Egyptian afterlife? Especially considering that Steven Grant has seemingly been killed at the
end of the episode. While the Disney+ Marvel shows have had a relatively hard time in the past finishing with strong finales, I am optimistic “Moon Knight” will land on its feet. “The Asylum” has easily been one of my favorite episodes of Marvel television and is quickly moving “Moon Knight” towards being one of the top projects for the franchise. Due to the direction, performances, writing, action and complex, yet realistic, portrayal of mental health, “Moon Knight” is certainly worth a watch. Regardless of whether you are a fan of traditional superhero content, I believe there is something in “Moon Knight” for everyone to enjoy. Watch the finale of “Moon Knight” as it reaches its conclusion on Disney+ next Wednesday.

Alexander Skarsgard stars as Amleth in “The Northman.”

In fact, some of my favorite showcases of acting in the story come from the more minor roles of Hawke and Dafoe’s characters, but also even from extras in sequences, like the raid I mentioned, where you can feel the terror and distress that the inhabitants are feeling. The soundtrack, composed by Robin Carolan and Sebastian Gainsborough, is filled with sounds synonymous with Norse culture that succeed in evoking emotions that can make you feel calm or tense one minute and the next make you want to run straight through a brick wall and go to battle. One area that I would say the film may be slightly lacking is in the writing department. While I would still say that the writing and plot
works well for what Eggers is trying to achieve and, by general standards, is good writing, I do not feel like the writing was necessarily on par with his past movie, “The Lighthouse.”. In a time where Hollywood seems to make an abundance of remakes, franchises and comic book movies, 2022 seems to be giving us a much-needed breath of fresh air for original films. “The Northman” is easily a personal favorite movie and one of the best that I have seen in recent years. I highly recommend going to see “The Northman” as soon as possible before it leaves theaters. This feels like a cinematic experience that will not be given justice if you do not see it in theaters. entertainment.ed@ocolly.com

Lior Garzon signs with the Cowgirls, roster taking shape Ben Hutchens Staff Reporter The OSU women’s basketball roster is completely reshaping. Sunday the Cowgirls signed Lior Garzon, a 6-foot-1 forward and Villanova transfer. Her sophomore year at Villanova, Garzon played her way into an everyday starter and averaged 13.1 points a game. Garzon was born in Ra’anana, Israel and won a third-place medal at the 2018 18U Women’s European Championship (Division B) with Israel. Ten players on the Cowgirls last season have entered the transfer portal since Jacie Hoyt was named head coach March 20. Hoyt is making bringing in international players to Stillwater a trend. She has landed Arizona transfer Anna Gret Asi, originally from Estonia. Naomie Alnatas followed Hoyt from UMKC to OSU and is from French Guiana. The Cowgirls also brought in Praise Egharevba from Germany. Garzon’s commitment puts the 2022-23 OSU women’s basketball team at 10 members, with five former Cowgirls remaining in the portal. sports.ed@ocolly.com
