Stillwater Holiday Must-Do Calendar By Addison Duling This winter season there are plenty of holiday activities to enjoy in and around Stillwater. There are in-person events following COVID-19 guidelines, as well as several virtual celebrations to get in the holiday spirit. The Holiday Art Booths at the Modella Gallery are open every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon – 4 p.m. until Dec. 20. Each day features six artists displaying works of Christmas art. The booths are set up to be socially distanced and masks are required. Stillwater’s Merry Main Street light display is taking place daily from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.. It is free to watch this forty-minute display of lights tuned to dance to cheerful holiday music. Along with this show, there are also free carriage rides from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturdays. Every day of the week, but Sunday, paint an ornament at the Prairie Arts Center. It only costs $2.50 for members and $3.00 for non-members to watercolor paint a pre-cut ornament. Even better, the ornaments are ready to go home with you that same day. On Dec. 17only, the Kansas City OSU Alumni Chapter is hosting a virtual happy hour. Tune into zoom with your favorite holiday drink or drop in at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.. From Dec. 17 though the 18, go up to Lake McMurtry, by Perry, for a drive through light display from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.. Following that on the 18th, join the OSU competi-

COVID-19 update The official Oklahoma coronavirus database on Sunday reported 310 active cases in Stillwater. These new numbers bring the city’s total cases to 3,597 with 11 deaths and 3,276 recoveries. On the state level, the health department also reported 2,297 new cases in the state, bringing the total confirmed positive cases to 216,486. The state also reported 11 new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total to 1,922. Oklahoma state

If you’re looking for a short holiday get-away from Stillwater, there are many holiday activities in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and other surrounding areas. Drive to Edmond Oklahoma’s Mitch Park and go skating in their outdoor icerink, or to Walnut Square in Oklahoma City to experience a life-size replica of Santa’s North Pole. In Oklahoma City’s Frontier City, experience Christmas lights, meet Santa, go on amusement park rides, attend holiday shows and crafts, enjoy outdoor s’mores fire pits and more extra park events up until Jan. 3. In Muskogee, drive through Castleton village from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. for drive-through light displays, train rides through the village, old fashioned hayrides, or rides on ponies and camels. From holiday pop-up shops to Christmas tree lots, there are an endless amount of holiday activities in and around Stillwater to get you feeling merry and bright this season.
