Interview with Dean Cund 1) You are well known in Staffordshire Bull Terrier circles. Which breed did you start with and how did you end up with French Bulldogs? As a child we had pet dogs at home but Staffordshire Bull Terriers were the first breed I showed. I had admired this breed as a child and As soon as I left home and got married I bought my first Stafford. My first Stafford was purchased as a pet only but then one day whilst out walking him I met a gentlemen in the street who admired Mydog (name) and suggested I have a go at showing him, he told me where the training classes where and this was the beginning of what has now become a life style for me. Although this first dog never became a big winner I learnt so much from him and knew this was something I really wanted to do. After him I owned a couple of Staffordshire Bull Terriers that did a little bit of winning but I was striving for that top prize so the search was still on for that top quality dog to show and it wasn’t long before he came along. In 1989 I purchased a male Stafford from Dave Bold an established exhibitor. The dog was called Boldbull Black Jack & he became my first champion. Since then I have Owned/handled 9 Staffordshire Bull Terriers to their champion title.
My Daughter Abbie has attended dog shows since she was a tiny baby. Like me she adores the dogs and the dog shows. Although she helped out at the Stafford shows on occasion Abbie wanted to start showing dogs herself but like most independent young ladies she wanted to do it her self and not stand in my shadow. Her choice of breed was the French Bulldog and for her 11th Birthday I bought her the first French Bull dog (Eve) who went on to win 1 CC & 2 res CC’s. Although we are Co-owners of all the dogs; both look after the day to day care of them the choice of breed was hers. The second French bull dog we bought was a bitch called (Amy) Ch Glenlee Two Moons at Chelmbull, winner of 3 CC’s & 7 Res CC’s, Top Brood bitch 2015 and the dam of Top French Bulldog 2015, our homebred Ch. Chelmbull Moon Pilot (Bentley) who himself has won 15 CC’s . Bentley is the sire of our Top winning male (Morgan) Ch Chelbull The Aviator. Morgan was Top French Bulldog 2018 & 2019, He won 2 Group 1 placing and a reserve Best in show at Bath 2018. in 2019 our kennel Chelmbull were Top Breeders, Top Stud dog, Top Brood bitch, Top Dog, Top Veteran.

Yes, the competition in the UK is very strong and winning CC’s in this very popular numerical breed is a great achievement. Becoming the all time Male breed record holder is a dream come true. We knew when Morgan was a puppy that he was special but could never of imagined the show career that was in store for him. Morgan is typical of the breed with his clown like character. There is never a dull moment with him around. A sweet boy that loves to please. His confident, outgoing temperament along with his excellent conformation and fabulous movement is what makes him the show man he is. 3) Is he available for stud?
Yes, he will be used at stud, his availability will depend on a number of factors, i.e. the breeding of the bitch in question, the temperament, health etc. 4) How many French Bulldogs do you own? We currently own 7 in partnership with a fabulous friends Alex & Linda Harrop. 5) Which breeder from the past do you admire and why?

Ellen & Gordon remain great friends of ours and have given us great help and advice over many years. Ellen & Gordon took Abbie underthere wings and also gave Abbie a stunning Fawn male as a birthday present who still lives with us here today now 11 years old. Jill Keates was another very talented breeder who certainly new how to produce outstanding dogs time after time. Ch. Nokomis Omeme was stunning winner of 31 Ccs and previous breed record holder her style and type was spot on beautiful example of the breed and so deserving of her place in breed history.
6) Which dog from the past do you admire and why? Ch Fire Dancer at Glenlee sticks in my mind he was such a beautifully balance dog and an outstanding sire of so many champions, Ch Birique Prnzessen who I mention above had it all for me her head was near perfection again her balance and ring presence made her a force to be reckoned with.
Ch Nokomis Omeme winner of 31 CCs previous breed record holder was simply stunning. 7 You have a beautiful daughter Abbie. Tell us more about this daughter and her love for dogs. I have mention Abbie briefly above as the one who chose the French Bull dog. Abbie Adores the dogs, she’s a sweet beautiful kind girl who works hard running her own dog grooming business. We have an unbelievable friendship and I am thrilled to share this wonderful hobby with her. Although winning is fantastic Abbie is a great sport & she’s always there to congratulate others on their success. As Abbie’s father I couldn’t be any more proud of all that she as achieved to date watching Abbie award her first set of CCs in French bulldogs this year was very special and show just how far she has come . Abbie’s greatest quality is she truly has a heart of gold. 8) Are you a judge Yes, I award CC’s in 3 breeds - Staffordshire Bull Terriers, French Bulldogs & Boston Terriers & have owned & bred champions in all 3 breeds.
10) How do you feel about health tests? I think its very important. I would like to think that we as breeders leave these breeds in great condition for the next generations to enjoy. 11) Chelmbull - what does it mean? CHELM is from the name of the area in which I live, BULL is from the bull breeds we own. Picture: Abbie with our first Champion girl Ch Glenlee Two Moons at Chelmbull
