“When talking with the officers, Rachel focussed on the lessons that needed to be learned by police forces when dealing with the victims of Domestic Abuse,” a police spokesperson said.

Police Sergeant Mary De Santos talked about the speech as the lead officer on domestic abuse.

“Rachel’s talk highlighted to officers the need to understand the impact their interaction has on a victim and the importance of empathy when taking the victims account,” Sgt De Santos said. “It also explored the thought processes of a victim when they decide to report the abuse – or not,” she added.
