Course Details: The purpose of this module is to provide the learner with a general understanding of the main elements of law that impact on business. The focus of the module is on both the theoretical basis for business law and on the practical applications in a business organisation. It is intended to prepare the learner for employment or further study in related areas. It has been developed as an elective vocational module for a range of business certificates at Level 5.
Learners who successfully complete this course will: 4 gain
a basic understanding of the Irish legal system an understanding of the impact of legislation on the business environment 4 gain an introduction to principles of the law of contract 4 gain an introduction to the principles of law relevant to a range of business practices (e.g. company law, consumer law, conveyancing) 4 be familiar with the legal language, procedures and documents relevant to their vocational area 4 develop skills in analysis and critical evaluation 4 appreciate the importance of health and safety legislation within the workplace 4 appreciate the importance of respecting confidentiality in all business communications and transactions. 4 gain

Course Details: The module is designed to enable the learner to gain an in depth understanding of the Legislative Environment in which a modern business must survive. Learners will be aware of and be able to apply the Legislation that applies to their particular area of business.

Course Details: The purpose of this module is to provide learners with a thorough understanding of the principles of criminal law and to enable them to appreciate the role of criminal law in their personal and vocational lives. It is also intended to prepare learners for employment or further study in related areas.
Learners who successfully complete this course will: 4
develop a general understanding of the Irish Criminal System 4 develop an appreciation of the elements required for a crime to be committed 4 evaluate the impact of relevant legislation governing the various aspects of criminal law to be investigated 4 acquire skills in evaluation and analysis 4 be familiar with the language and procedures elated to the various aspects of criminal law studied.

Course Details: This module is designed to equip participants with knowledge of the component parts of employment law and an appreciation of how employment law principles work in practice. In addition, candidates who successfully complete this module will develop an in-depth understanding of the statutory frameworks which regulate the employer/employee relationship.
