Main Level The great room, dining room, and kitchen comprise the open space on the main level. They put in a basketball court and a fire pit. Being outside is part of their everyday experience, from playing football in the grass to eating dinner on the patio. “The house is designed as a perfect entertainment space, but we use it for family,” Dan says. “Kids are always here; it’s that house.”
Outdoor Living
Committed to Steamboat’s fun and active lifestyle, the Simons hike to Buff Pass from their back yard. Being true locals, they have lots of toys: snowmobiles and trailers, skis and bikes. The heated four car garage provides the space to accommodate their hobbies when the seasons change. As devoted to the outdoors as they are, the Simons love their quiet neighborhood. With only four other houses on the street, it’s the perfect balance of people and privacy. Dan and Sarah agree: they love being in town, but they feel like they’re in the country.
Wanting only to live in the mountains, it was a combination of chance and Dan’s work that landed the Simons in Steamboat. Because returning to her roots wasn’t her priority, Sarah believes the Yampa Valley chose them. Their life at Deer Clover has provided a balance of things they love and value: the adventure and peace of the outdoors; the comfort and connections through town; space for their family and a palpable sense of togetherness.
