STAGECOACH: A New Era of Luxury Skiing
Over the past couple of years, rumors have been circulating about something brewing in Stagecoach. Although many have dismissed these rumors as just another false alarm, this time they feel different. Instead of a flashy marketing campaign by a venture capitalist firm, the project has been quietly moving forward by the current owners with significant investments and work already underway.
In September 2021, the owners increased their investment by purchasing 27 acres of land on a peninsula that extends into the Stagecoach Reservoir. The following summer saw the commencement of major renovations to the summit lodge, improvements to the access road, and extensive clearing projects. By February 2023, the owners had submitted formal plans to the county.
The proposed private ski and golf club would span an area of over 800 acres, with the ski area covering 731 acres and featuring five lifts and 609 residential units. The 18-hole golf course along the Stagecoach
Reservoir would cover another 88 acres, with plans for an additional 146 residential units. These impressive plans are sure to generate considerable excitement from luxury skiing and golfing enthusiasts.
However, before the project becomes a reality, there are a host of hurdles to overcome. Nevertheless, the progress made so far suggests that the project is moving in the right direction. The investment and work already completed are impossible to ignore, as the project continues to unfold, it will undoubtedly attract interest. For skiing and golf enthusiasts, this could be the start of a new era of world-class luxury recreation in the Yampa Valley.
