ECLECTIC, COMFORTABLE, AND This 4,073sf home is contemporary yet rustic and evokes a farmhouse feel. It was designed in 2014 by Tim Stone of Kelly and Stone Architects and built by Mike Roberts of Odyssey Builder Group. The architecture embraces nature and simplicity without sacrificing the attention to detail that makes this home both unique and familiar. It’s open and light with high ceilings, a neutral color scheme and clean lines that work together to create a soothing and cozy environment. Radiant heat oak floors run throughout the main floor, kitchen, and living area. There’s basalt in the mudroom, silestone and Colorado marble on the kitchen countertops, and modern cabinetry. The home comfortably hosts family and friends: everyone gathers on the main floor and lingers in the kitchen. It’s big and cozy, hardy and functional. The living room fireplace is Telluride Gold stone. From the mail level, French doors open to a three-sided covered porch with a

Tom and Barb Geesey’s kids grew up coming to Steamboat in the winter and summer to visit their grandfather. After the kids moved out on their own, Tom and Barb craved Steamboat’s small town and strong community feel. They decided to build their dream home in a dream neighborhood for their kids and grandkids to visit.
A LITTLE FARMHOUSE
RIGHT DOWNTOWN.
Initially, they envisioned a little farmhouse right downtown. They loved the area’s access to parks, restaurants, and shops, as well as its eclectic appeal—there are old, remodeled, and new houses full of little kids, growing families, retired couples, and young renters finding their way. The Geeseys wanted their home to fit into the neighborhood’s culture. They wanted it to be comfortable and contemporary—somewhere between traditional and modern. Finished in 2014, the home was designed by Tim Stone of Kelly and Stone Architects and built by the late Mike Roberts of Odyssey Builder Group. It’s extremely well insulated, efficient, and green. At 4,073 square feet, the house ended up being bigger than the Geeseys originally planned. “It took on a life of its own,” Barb said, “but it all worked out really well. It was kind of a divine plan and it’s the perfect size.”
A FOCUS ON
EFFICIENCY.
With a focus on efficiency, the house is designed to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It’s open and light with high ceilings, a mild color scheme, and clean lines that work together to create a soothing and cozy environment. Radiant heat oak floors run throughout the main floor, kitchen, and living area. There’s basalt in the mudroom, silestone and Colorado marble on the kitchen countertops, and modern cabinetry. The living room fireplace is Telluride Gold stone. French doors open to a three-sided covered porch with a railing, Batu hardwood decking, and s’mores fireplace. The exterior wood siding is beautifully weathered and reclaimed; it’s contemporary but rustic to evoke that farmhouse feel.
