Police Reports July 2 Michael Wolfe of Peru had the rear of his vehicle struck while sitting at a stop sign at W 500 S & S 200 W, Peru by another vehicle driven by Sean Warren of Peru. A complainant at 2683 Capehart St, Peru called to report that her vehicle had been struck sometime throughout the night. She advised that the glass from her driver-side mirror was laying on the ground and the mirror had folded forward. No other damage observed. Officers at 2913 Travis St, Peru spoke with a complainant and her daughter reference a prom dress that they shipped prior to receiving payment for. The complainant has been in contact with USPS regarding package intercept and case for possible mail fraud. A traffic accident with damage was reported at S U.S. 31 and W St. Rd. 218, Peru. Officers at 171 E Third St, Walnut Hill Mobile Home Park, Lot 25, Bunker Hill, spoke to an individual over the phone in reference to an unleashed dog in Bunker Hill. Officers went to East Third St, Peru, and responded to the area in reference to an unruly juvenile. An overdose or poisoning was reported at 4881 W 1350 S, Kokomo. Disorderly conduct was reported at 1539 W 600 S, Lot 19, Kings Court Mobile Home Park, Peru. The fire was contained in a proper container and was not near the caller’s property. There were not any trespass warnings in place on any of the individuals. One individual was given a no trespass warning for the caller’s property. There had been no violations of any statute that had occurred. Fireworks were reported at 2320 W 2nd St, Mexico. The individuals advised they would cease their celebration for the night. July 3 A black cow was located at E 1400 N and N St. Rd. 19, Macy. Kercher Farms was contacted. An unconscious person was reported at 3306 S 400 E, Peru. Officers attempted to locate the parties at E 850 S and S Strawtown Pike, Bunker Hill, involved with dumping trash on private property. A wanted person was located at 7915 N 100 E, Denver. Officers at S 400 W & W 500 S, Peru checked on a driver. Driver was pulled off into storage units upon arrival. Driver admitted to dropping her phone while using it for GPS which caused her swerving. Everything checked okay. A citizen dispute occurred at 3673 E 200 N,

Peru. Trauma was reported at 4673 S 625 E, Mississinewa Offices, Peru. A juvenile problem was reported at Norton Ave and Randolph St, Peru. A suspicious person or vehicle was reported at 3478 W Honey Tree CT, Kokomo. Officers at 4673 S 625 E, Mississinewa Campground, Peru assisted EMS with a deceased individual at the campgrounds. The call was found to have occurred in Wabash County. Their agency took over the call. Two male juveniles left home without permission on East Third St, Peru. A runaway report has been filed. July 4 A possible driving while under the influence driver was reported at W 400 S and S U.S. 31, Peru. A complainant at 396 N 400 W, Peru reported theft of a 1999 white Mercury Sable valued at $1,500. Vehicle entered into IDACS/NIC on that date. Officers spoke with a complainant at 10929 S 550 E, Amboy in reference to threatening text messages received from her husband. She declined to pursue charges at this time. The complainant is planning on filling for a protective order on July 6. July 8 A report of an overdose by prescribed medication at 208 E Wabash St, Converse. Undetermined if it was accidental or intentional. Deputies and medics at 2318 Randolph St, Peru responded to a call for an unresponsive person. After medics exhausted lifesaving efforts, the

subject was pronounced dead. Deputies then conducted a death investigation. A male subject at 3207 Schilling St, Peru advised his gun was taken. This is ongoing investigation. A caller at 1104 W 200 N, Miami County Sheriff ’s Department, Peru noticed suspicious activity on surveillance video. Requested extra patrol. A caller at 2943 W 300 S, Willow Springs Mobile Home Park, Lot 6, Peru reported neighbor was recording her and her husband while they were in the driveway. A two-vehicle accident was reported at 2644 W 500 S, Peru. No injuries were reported. A crash report was completed. Officers at 1104 W 200 N, Miami County Sheriff ’s Department, Peru responded for a possible domestic. Parties separated. Officers at 1829 E Monona Dr, Peru responded to the area of Monona Dr in reference to an unconscious male. This is an ongoing investigation. A complainant at 1926

W Whippoorwill Dr, Peru reported that she received a phone call from a subject representing himself as a salesperson for a medical alert company. The complainant does not believe she suffered any monetary loss but wanted to document the incident. A non-domestic fight occurred at 2934 S 300 W, Lot 146, Woodland Hills Mobile Home Park, Peru. An animal problem was reported at 15 E Pine St, Denver. The owner advised he would take the dog in. July 9 A verbal warning was given at 14 E Eighth St, Harvey Hinklemeyers, Peru for riding a bicycle in the middle of the road going the wrong way. Fraud was reported at 5755 S U.S. 31, Peru. Officers at 487 S Elm St, Bunker Hill responded to the area reference to a welfare check on a male with no pants on. Male was located and taken into custody for public nudity.

Denise Ulshafer, 69 Denise Ulshafer, age 69, of Peru entered the gates of Heaven Saturday, July 3, 2021, at her home. She was born March 22, 1952, in Oak Park, Illinois to Newton Moore and Marilyn Moore (King). Shortly after being born in Illinois, Denise moved to Peru, Indiana, where she lived the rest of her life. Denise was an only child and graduated from Peru High School. She was employed at Dukes Memorial Hospital as a CNA, and later, was a cashier at the Grissom AFB Commissary till they closed in 1996. She married Robert Ulshafer Nov. 28, 1970. Throughout their almost 51 years together, Denise managed her home. To Denise her family was everything. She spent many hours worrying about everyone and making sure they

were taken care of. She is survived by her two daughters Amy (Wendell) Blankenship of Peru, and Anne (Jay) Eckelbarger of Peru; eight grandchildren Mallory Nichols (Tyler) of Peru, Mackenzi Brewer of Kokomo, Jacob Eckelbarger of Peru, Trinity Eckelbarger of Carmel, Elijah Eckelbarger of Kokomo, Matthew Eckelbarger (Rachel) of Atlanta, Georgia, Cooper Blankenship (Caitlyn) of Peru, Logan Blankenship of Peru; two greatgrandchildren Lainey Sharp of Kokomo, Ella Blankenship of Peru. Denise loved cooking and searching new recipes. Everyone thought of her as their mother or grandmother. She welcomed everyone in her home and loved planning and hosting dinners and get togethers. She was known for

her famous potato salad. She loved crafts, gardening and birds. She had several bird feeders and loved watching them in her sunroom where she would often see deer. She enjoyed weekly shopping outings where she made close friends. She also had two Yorkies, Pepper and Minnie who she loved dearly. Scott Anthony Harrison, 56 On Sunday, July 4, 2021, Scott Anthony Harrison, loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 56. Scott was born on Oct. 19, 1964, in Flint, Michigan to James and Alice (Gentry) Harrison. He was a Department of Corrections employee for 11 ½ years. He also worked at Logansport State Hospital for 5 ½ years. He married Bobbi (Wilcox) on March 28, 1987. They raised a daughter, Melinda McCann (David McCann, spouse) and a son, Nathan (Brittany McClean, girlfriend). Scott had a passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a licensed minister. He founded Matthew 25 Ministries through Apostolic Revival Cen-

ter. He was constantly giving to anyone in need, often times giving his last dollar. Scott was known for his impersonations of Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Popeye, and many others. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing. Scott was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother, Doug. He is survived by his wife Bobbi, his two children, six grandchil-

dren, his sister (Cathy Rodgers), his brother (Rick Harrison), an aunt, uncles, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kenneth Loren Day, 98 Kenneth Loren Day, life-long resident of Peru, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, July 4, 2021, at the age of 98. Ellen Jean Gross, 89 Ellen Jean Gross, 89, of Peru, Indiana, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 4:59 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2021. Born in Indianapolis January 1, 1932, to Charles and Myrtle Thomas, Ellen lived in Indiana for most of her life. She graduated from Manual High School in 1950, and on June 5, 1953, she married Robert D. Gross (deceased). They became the parents of five children. Ellen lived in Peru from 1963 until her death. She is survived by two sons, Stephan (Eileen) Gross of Peru; David (Mary Ellen) Gross of Carmel; three daughters, Kathleen (Steven) Leeper of Elkhart; Joni (David) Bruns of Martinsville; and Mariellen (Robert) Pullen of Walton; thirteen grand-

Larry Coleman, 82 Larry Coleman, 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Bunker Hill to Roy M Coleman and Freda Prather Coleman. Larry married the mother of his daughters, Wanda Burgan Coleman Sept. 26, 1960. He then married Debbie Truax Coleman Dec. 29, 1981, and became step-father to two boys. Debbie preceded him in death Aug. 27, 2000. Larry was a lifelong mechanic and worked for Super 98, Richter & Keirn, Tom Shepherd Oldsmobile, and retired from Paul Richard Chevrolet. He also served in the Army from December 1961 to November 1963 while stationed in Germany. His greatest passion was living on and farming the land he and his sister grew up on in Bunker Hill, Indiana. He also enjoyed visiting with

Mary Louise Crippen Nichols, 98, a resident of The Meadows, a Retirement Health Care Center of Leipsic, Ohio, passed away at 12:45 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the health care center. She was born in Miami, Indiana, Dec. 11, 1922, the daughter of Russell W. and Leah Marie Wilson Crippen. Mary married John P. Nichols Sept. 20, 1944, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1987. Mary attended Miami Elementary School and graduated from Clay Township High School in 1940. She worked at Square D in Peru from 1940 until her marriage to John in 1944. John and Mary resided in rural Bunker Hill until 1964 when they moved to North Manchester. She worked at Abrasives in North Manchester from

1979 until her retirement in 1992. Mary was a member of the First Brethren Church of North Manchester. Mary resided in Ft. Wayne until she moved to Leipsic. Surviving is a son Ted Nichols and his wife Roberta of McComb, Ohio; a daughter Margo Donnelly and her husband David of Ft. Rebecca Jo Eisaman, 71 Rebecca Jo Eisaman, 71, of Peru, Indiana, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020. Becky was born in Marion, Indiana, April 30, 1949, to Mary (Bailey) and Richard Hodson. She graduated from Peru High School in 1967. She married Joseph M. Eisaman April 14, 1968. Joe and Becky lived in many exciting places during Joe's time in the Navy. Their daughter, Michelle was born in November of 1968 while they were living in San Francisco, California. From there they moved to Scotland and lived in a flat in Kinnard Castle for two years, then on to Ft. Mead, Maryland, before returning to Peru and having their son, Shawn, in November of 1975. Surviving family include her husband Joe, daughter Michelle and Kevin Uptegraft, son Shawn and Shelly Eisaman. Her grandchil-

dren; Caleb and wife Ashely Uptegraft, Erin Uptegraft, Isabella Eisaman, Alexandra Eisaman, and Nicholas Eisaman. Her two great grandchildren, August and Juniper Uptegraft. Charles Edward Burns, 98 ceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2004. Ed was a lifelong farmer in northern Miami County, where he also owned and operated Ed Burns & Sons Trucking. He was a member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren and a veteran of the Army Air Corp, having served in

Burial was in the Rankin Cemetery. Family and friends gathered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. where she worked for well over 20 years. She then went on to work part time for Peru Community Schools in the cafeterias at South Peru and Blair Pointe from 2008 to 2019. She loved spending time fishing, floating, and taking friends and family tubing at her lake house. She loved to travel, visiting family by the ocean and spending time on the beach. Becky also loved the arts. She enjoyed painting, drawing and creating craft projects with her grandkids. She also enjoyed music, her flower gardens, and playing cards or games. She loved to laugh, play, dance, and occasional a good prank. There will be a themed Rock-n-Roll Oldies Celebration of life held for Becky at Riverview Event Center, 421 West Canal St. Peru, Indiana, Saturday, July 31, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Obituaries David B. Reed, 56 David B. Reed, 56, of Logansport went to his heavenly home at 10:18 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Peru, Indiana, December 1, 1964, the son of Joyce (Reed) Doty and the late Bill L. Reed. David graduated from Peru High School in 1984 and soon after moved to Logansport, Indiana. He was a hard-working man who was known for his reliability and dedication. He was an avid coin collector and loved to metal detect. He loved the 4th of July and lighting up the sky with fireworks. He was also a huge Colts and Pacers fan. David also was very passionate about all things space related, rocket launches, jets, airplanes and watching thunderstorms.
