Pat was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Peru, Indiana, to the late Chester and Bertha (Hartgrove) Garbert. On May 28, 1950, she married Frederick A. Beasey. He preceded her in death in 1989. In 1997, Pat married Murray Hamman. He preceded her in death in 2016. Pat graduated from Peru High School in 1949. Most of her working years were spent as an administrative assistant in the accounting profession. She worked for Zaremski Accounting and then for Thomas A. Kirk & Associates until her retirement. Although never formally educated after high school, Pat was a natural learner and educated herself on numerous topics. She was once active in the PTA and served on the Miami County YMCA Board of Directors. She helped to create, and then participated in, the Women’s and the Couples’ Volleyball Leagues at the Miami County YMCA. She was an active member of Psi Iota Xi philanthropic sorority for over 50 years and served as the organization’s president in the early 1980’s. A few of her various hobbies included auctioning, antiquing, oil painting, crosswording, reading, and

In her most recent years, she enjoyed working outside in her yard and talking with those neighbors who walked, jogged, or rode bicycles past her house. Pat was blessed with excellent health most of her life until falling ill in August of 2021. True to character, she fought to stay in the home she loved, but in December, she moved to Blair Ridge where her family commemorated her 90th birthday with her just last week. MCAG to host visual arts festival The Miami County Artisan Gallery (MCAG), 20 North Broadway, Peru, Indiana, announces a "PERU VISUAL ARTS FESTIVAL" scheduled for May 14, 2022, in conjunction with ReDiscover Peru's Second Saturdays. This first annual art festival, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., will be free to the public, and held in the downtown Peru area. The mission of MCAG, a non-profit 501 (C) (3), is to continue to provide and enhance community, business and individual development through art awareness and activities. The main goal of this project is to spotlight Peru, and surrounding areas, as a past, current, and future Art Matrix. Collaborations with community artists, businesses, and agencies are underway by MCAG, Executive Director, Marlene R. Mickelson, MS CRA Artpreneur, and Patrick Redmon, BS, Board Member, and Grant Writer. The Miami County Tourism Bureau has already stepped up to the plate with some sponsorship. Transportation will be provided to the three main art galleries, (MCAG, Peru High Schools
Gallery, and Gallery 15) and all other local art businesses, to spotlight the art collections and offerings at each establishment. Festival goers will complete a stamp card which will be entered into a drawing. Downtown Peru will be filled with artists and their works. There will be three art competitions for people of all ages, and an art-scholarship event. An educational experience for students will foster interactions with professional artists. There will be a Kids Korner art petting zoo and scheduled mural paintings. Prior to the event, downtown businesses will partner with local artists to facilitate an art competition for a people's choice award. This project is in still development and public input and support are vitally needed. Feel free to contact Marlene R. Mickelson with any suggestions or questions.
