RUTH PAULINE HAYES
WINAMAC, IN - FORMERLY OF NORTH JUDSON, IN - Ruth Pauline Hayes, 81, died Friday, August 30, 2024, at her home. She was born January 9, 1943, in Oneida, New York, to the late Bert Rufus and Norine Elizabeth (Hancock) Rowe. On October 11, 1965, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she married Herman Rogers Hayes. He died November 30, 2019. Ruth attended church regularly and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by two sons: Roger Hayes of Royal Center, Indiana and James Hayes of North Judson, one daughter, Valerie (Craig) Jones of Winamac, eleven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, one sister, Rose Myers of Mooresville, Indiana and one brother, Bill (Sanom) Potter of Auburn, New York. She was preceded in death by one brother, Truman Rowe.
Services were held Tuesday, September 3, at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Mark Pilger officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
NORBERT C. SKRONSKI
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Norbert C. Skronski, 89, died Thursday, August 22, 2024 in La Porte, Indiana. He was born September 2, 1934 in North Judson, Indiana to the late Frank and Angeline (Marczak) Skronski.
Norbert was a 1953 graduate of North Judson High School and attended Triton Junior College and Moler Barber College. He was a veteran of the US Army and had been stationed in Germany. He was employed by General Telephone, US Postal Service and owned a Barber Shop for many years. He was an accomplished leather worker and had designed and made many belts, purses and wallets for many people (charging very little for them). He was a wicked card player, with Rummy being his game. He is survived by one brother, Frank (Evelyn) Skronski of North Judson. He was preceded in death by three brothers: his twin, Chester John Skronski and Leonard Skronski and Edward Skronski and one sister, Loretta Wiencek.
Services were held Wednesday, August 28 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in North Judson. Burial was in the St. Jacob Cemetery in North Judson. Donations to the charity of your choice or for Masses for Norbert.
Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.
ISLA MARTHA GEWALT
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Isla Martha Gewalt, 78, died Thursday, August 29, 2024. She was born November 7, 1945, in Southbridge, Massachusetts, to the late James and Gertrude Morrison.
Ilsa was an exceptional seamstress who enjoyed making clothing, blankets, household items and treasured keepsakes. She enjoyed for swimming at the local YMCA, traveling to Germany, gardening, tending her flowers, bird watching and taking care of feral cats.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur R. Gewalt and two brothers: Jim and Rich Morrison, both of Colorado. Private services will be held.
Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.

FLOYD D. BURTON JR.
KNOX, IN - Floyd D. Burton Jr., 73, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in Knox, Indiana. He was born December 13, 1950, in La Porte, Indiana to the late Floyd and Eunice (Cox) Burton. On September 12, 1970, in Hamlet, Indiana, he married Linda Johnson.
Floyd was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the Knox Center Township Fire Department and a member of the Honor Guard. He enjoyed being the crossing guard for Knox Community Schools and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed hanging out at Wayne’s Oil & Lube and spending time with his family. He had worked as a supervisor for the Indiana Department of Corrections.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, one son, Tim (Jennifer) Burton of Knox, two daughters: Susie (Chuck) Wieringa of Knox and Emily Burton of Plymouth, Indiana, three grandchildren and one sister, Sheryl (Anthony) Barricks of Palestine, Texas. He was preceded in death by one brother Gene Burton.
Services were held Monday, September 9, 2024 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, with Rev. James Adcock officiating. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
GERALD GLEN CROZIER
MONTICELLO, IN - Gerald Glen “Jerry” Crozier, 82, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his home. He was born July 21, 1942 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Charles Glen and Dorothy Louise (Jones) Crozier. On June 24, 1967, in Whiting, Indiana, he married Elaine C. Sell.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was retired from S&B Distributors after 20 plus years and then worked as a custodian at St. John’s UCC in Michigan City, Indiana, where he was a member and had served on the Consistory and was active in many areas of church leadership. He was also a member of St. James Salem UCC in Francesville, Indiana. Jerry was also active at the state level of the United Church of Christ, serving on the Indiana-Kentucky conference including the Northwest Association and Western Association of the Conference. He served many years as Chairman of the Board for the Merom Camp and Retreat Center in Merom, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing, remodeling cottages, listening to old school country music, collecting model trains and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, one son, Charles (Marci) Crozier of Monticello, one daughter, Katherine (Tom) Smith of La Porte, Indiana, twin granddaughters, six bonus grandchildren, eight bonus great grandchildren and one brother, John Crozier of Monticello. He was preceded in death by siblings: Linda Volom and Rick Crozier.
Services were held Monday, September 9, at St. James Salem United Church of Christ, with Pastors Dennis Meyer and Kay Bond officiating. Burial was in the St. James Cemetery in Francesville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Salem United Church of Christ or Lewy Body Dementia Association. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville.
