TIME

to say

Goodbye

I, Lauren Lee, will Marine Fujisawa and Annie Benedict an amazing year leading the newspaper. You both have such incredible talent and I have no doubts about your abilities to lead an exceptional paper after we leave. To Tunika Onnekikami, I will you nothing but Coldplay playlists, for you need nothing more than Chris Martin to be a more perfect human being. To Noah Werksman, innumerable networking events, hair product to tame those curls and a new pair of camo sweatpants. Though we leave H52 after four years together, the memories and laughs we shared will never be forgotten. Good luck on all of your future endeavors in Pennsylvania! To Jaymee Johnson, my newfound love for country music and every ounce of my admiration. It has been an honor to work with an adviser like you. To my Cho-Cos, I will all my love for Jimmy, Nate’s meows and pairs of fringe high waisted black shorts. To Samantha Liu, more #Klossy moments and every flavor of Karlie’s Kookies known to mankind. To Hope Golida, all my love and adoration for being my little sister on Choreo and being unbelievably talented. You’re going places, missy! To Daniel Warner, hair gel to perfect Mike Ross’s hair as well as the moves to find your own Rachel Zane. To Noah Hoang, another car seat to fit yet another child in your car. To Spencer Dalton, fifty minutes of my attention to get through an episode of House of Cards and all of the creepy white tuxes you want to wear at USC. To Hannah Irish, tears induced by Klaus and Caroline scenes and every viral puppy video on the World Wide Web. To Izzy Shen, a ballpoint pen to write in your daily rant book while in college and more asparaguscolored clothing to add to your already abundant collection. To Arman Ramezani, more maroon Levi’s jeans to enhance your voluptuous curves, tweezers to shape your fabulous eyebrows and an endless supply of hugs. To Cher Su, I will you luck on your quest to find Troy Bolton at Berkeley, an appropriately fitting sports bra and a free subscription to Tiger Beat to stay updated on Ross Lynch’s personal life. To Christine Fukui, I will Snapchats of our dogs, awfully thin chocolate chip cookies and seven years of extraordinary friendship. I’m so proud of you and I feel blessed to have seen you grow into the beautiful person you are today. And lastly to Shannon Nakamura, I will all of my John Mayer albums, our amazing Battle of Tannenberg presentation, more Amy Winehouse singing impressions, The Office binge watching sessions and all of my respect. You have been with me through the thick and thin and every victory of yours is a victory of mine. Thank you for making high school unforgettable. I wish the best of luck to you as you venture on to Berkeley. Here’s to a lifetime of more memories!

I, Amani Jalota, will Stella Yoo long paste up nights without me, hopefully laptops that work for her and lots of newspaper fun. Working with you has truly been a crazy ride and I’m really going to miss your sarcasm and venting to you about my problems. I will Tunika sarcastic looks and eye rolls because that was the only thing that could make me laugh at paste up. I will Lauren thank you’s because she often saved me from blank layouts at post paste up and even tried to break through my inability to understand math. Both Tunika and Lauren are two of the most hard working, sweet, funny and intelligent people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Not only did their work ethic help The Pen thrive, but their sparkling personalities made everything more bearable and they are truly inspirations. I can only hope to be as well-rounded as them one day. I will Jackie gummy bears, and everyone knows why. Thank you for your snacks and always helping me think of graphic ideas and also being the one to create them twenty minutes before we export. I will Emily McGinn good luck as an editor and I know she is going to be amazing because she was often the one reminding me of deadlines this year. I will everyone in The Pen an amazing year with beautiful layouts and well-written articles! I will Jeffrey Zimberoff lots of love and memes as he goes off to Chapman to become a businessman. I couldn’t imagine getting through high school without you by my side. I will Shannon Bousheri and Briana Morgan cinnabon balls, taco bell quesadillas, chick- fil- a ice cream and so much luck and love for the next four years. I’m beyond grateful we came into each others lives during sophomore year and made so many memories. To Meredith Maguire I will Noah’s Bagels and an amazing four years at Oregon. You’ve been my partner in crime for so long and one of my best friends. I really don’t know what I am going to do without you next year. Expect a lot of texts from me. To Irena Kim, I will endless hikes and rants. We’ve been friends for so long and you are one of the favorite people in my life. Thank you for always understanding me. All of you have made my high school experience so amazing and I know you will all be successful in your future endeavors.

As the year comes to a close, seniors of publications say farewell to Peninsula High School.

I, Tunika Onnekikami, will Annie, Marine, Esther, Temishi and Isabelle leadership of The Pen, an actually good leadership name, late paste ups, early post paste ups and delicious bribes when the time comes. I cannot wait to receive the paper next year and I am so proud of all of you! You are all beyond capable of running our paper, and I am sure it will look fabulous. Remember to have fun and spell check! To Temi and Annie, I will our Friday Bean meet ups (you’re the seniors now); find some cool Beans to replace Jackie and myself. And try not to totally suck, thanks, love y’all ;-) To Jackie, I will you as much love and support as you have shown me for so many years. I hope it comes in the form of a green jacket and snake bites. Truly, you have been the best of friends (and my name is Sasuke Uchiha and I have no likes or dislikes, my only desire is to kill my brother) and I love you. To my dear Lauren, I will warm clothing and boots for Chicago and all the luck in the world. I am grateful and blessed to have had you as my co-EIC and as a friend. I don’t know how I could have survived without you, your food or our mutually disgusting snapchats. To Maya Tamhane, I will your name; may it always be bold. To Noah, bye, see you next year and I will you both of our Freshman Fifteens. To Zoe, all of your food that we (I) have eaten, to Phoebe, everything you have forgotten and will forget in H52, and to Stella, Keanu Reeves’ love and the ability to make Sports (MY favorite section) incredible. With all of that Panther Time bonding, you three are some of my favorite people and I will miss each of you more than I can say. To all of our freshmen, I will you the will to stick newspaper out for every year of your high school careers. It is the a stressful and rewarding experience and you are all filled with talent that will make The Pen incredible when your turn comes. When you all are producing your newspapers, I will know that we are REALLY getting old. To Ciro, I will H52 with the laughter and friendship that comes with it. We are a family and you fit with us as we with you, so stay! To JJ, I will the fabulous 2016-2017 staff of The Pen (I have no doubt that you will survive the sass that is to come). Thank you for making my last year on The Pen the best one and for all that you helped me through! To all of you in H52, I will rice and other food, happiness, networking, love and luck. Work hard, play hard and know that I will miss you all so much!

I, Jackie Uy, will Temishi Onnekikami my passion for graphic design and 300 ppi resolution. I know you will continue to grow as an artist and I am so incredibly proud of your progress. I will Annie Benedict gummy bears and a hunting trip that lasts a little longer than a few days. I cannot thank you enough for all the support and making me laugh at your very clever jokes. To Marine Fujisawa, I will my article 2 that is very much on time. You are one of the sweetest human beings in the world. I am so excited to will Isabelle Wang my love for Sasuke. I am glad you have accepted me into your lifestyle. I will Esther Chu current event quizzes with lots of EC questions. I entrust all of leadership to give the paper a voice and to take care of H52. Please continue to make it a home. To Zoe, Phoebe and Stella, I will the motivation and drive to continue their journey through newspaper (and junior year). You guys have made this year so special and I am so humbled to have gotten the chance to know each and every one of you. To Nile, I will you a tap on the shoulder. To Chris Chien, I will my love for the Fire Emblem franchise (especially for Chrom). It has been a privilege to see you grow as a person. I will Gino Abrajano the afterschool crosswalk journeys we have embarked on for two years. I will Eva Enriquez, the love that Peter and Wes share. I will Maya my love for The Wanted and my inability to dance. I will Ciro my awful jokes. To my beautiful best friend, Tunika Onnekikami, I will the awkward lighting from the booth at Inka Wasi and the tears I shed during The Good Dinosaur. Our friendship is a generational treasure and you make me laugh and smile daily. If it really is possible, I hope that our friendship transcends lifetimes. To everyone in newspaper, I will the love for the Newspaper that has resulted in new experiences and friends that will be permanently remembered (whether I like it or not). Also, thank you Ms. Johnson for being a great teacher and a great role model. To H52, I will smiles and laughter for everyone who makes the newspaper what it is.
