HELLO THERE… Well, it’s been a while since our last blog and how things can change…!?! We, at Team Pamper & The Perfect Pamper have been trying to think how we could help our friends, colleagues and customers at this time even in the smallest of ways. That is why over the next few weeks we will share self care, life under lock down tips, tutorials and suggestions. You can find these via our social media accounts Facebook & Instagram. I also wanted to put a more personal perspective of where the business and I am at. After the past 2-3 weeks I have been just watching, like everyone else, the world changing right in front of us, surreal, seeming almost impossible. From the business perspective… It was only just over a month ago we hosted our therapist staff Wellness Day in Brighton. Such an amazing day full of joy, creativity and great expectations for the up and coming busy months ahead.
Then, within 10 days, we watched as our health and beauty businesses, of 12 years, grind to a complete stand still. I have spent the past few weeks trying to come to terms with this and the changing world around us. trying to work out my place in this chaos. Ensuring wages are paid and overheads are covered, (for now…) It is as an individual, that I most feel the impact on what is happening. I am used to a very full life. Being a Mum, running 3 businesses and working as a therapist, kept me pretty busy and now I am having to adapt to a whole new existence, like us all.
My first response to the COV-19 crisis was to go back to basics and to move away from social media… well, the media in general if I was being honest. We are now in the midst of turning our tiny back garden into an allotment patch. My partner and I decided this is the project we could both get on board with. We have no idea what we are really doing, relying on the internet and an old gardening book and neighbours for guidance and help. I am using this as a daily mindfulness exercise or just an excuse not to home school for a couple of hours
To keep myself sane, I know I need to keep busy, give myself achievable goals. Delving into my lock up and completely reorganising my equipment, products, was hard work and satisfying. I have also found myself watching endless dog rescue stories on Facebook most beneficial to my mental health. Pretty much my go to after each Government briefing. Connecting with my neighbours has been one of the positives I can draw upon. Swapping vegetable seeds and chatting at a distance on the way to our daily walk. Communicating through the joys of technology with app’s such as Zoom and WhatsApp. Organising shopping for people who are unable to leave their house; it feels like our community is uniting. If you have found yourself with more time on your hands, try and boost a skill set, learn something new, brush up on something old. As well as my garden, I myself will be sorting my at home office and completing my year’s accounts ready for business to resume in the near future. Get on top of those jobs you really don’t want to do but you know they have to be done.
Life under lock down. How can we help?
At home, with the reflection, I realised that the industry qualifications and knowledge I have accumulated over the years, in massage therapy, reflexology, skin care and aromatherapy are transferable skills that could be of benefit to you. We can take advantage of the everyday products and supplies that, now, is all we have access too. For example: There are many ingredients in our cupboards, fridges and gardens we can use to help exfoliate, nourish and moisturise. Just because we are in lock down, doesn’t mean our skin has to be. I have been teaching massage techniques to my staff, clients and couples massage workshops for many years. I am looking forward to sharing tips & and techniques with you over the coming weeks. These can easily be adapted to yourself and loved ones at home. Stretching, a vital ingredient to add to your daily routine, helps to alleviate lower back pain from gardening, our necks and shoulders from the constant streaming at home, gaming or our work stations. I teach easy to follow stretching techniques using minimal equipment and your own body weight. If you would like a hands-on experience. Our One to One Couples Massage Workshops will shortly be going online so you can learn to massage at home with me and my fellow tutors via a live stream. Contact us for full details. Each week I will endeavour to share content which I hope you will find an interest in or at least alleviate some of the boredom. Hopefully, you won’t scroll on by I look forward to connecting with you very soon. Charlotte Every Founder & Therapist The Perfect Pamper | Team Pamper | Every Body Therapy
