PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The Physical Education programme at PGS is designed to facilitate the development of pupils’ inter- and intra-personal skills, such as confidence, social interaction and problem solving, whilst contributing to the enhancement of our pupils’ physical and mental health and well-being. We use sport and exercise as the vehicle for this and therefore pupils will also demonstrate improvement in their physical literacy and knowledge of the body in action. Consistently high levels of effort are how success is measured and, along with the challenge of working outside personal comfort zones, pupils will inevitably encounter improved performance.
Pupils will experience a wide range of activities throughout Years 9-11 in which we aim to foster a positive mental attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. The promotion of lifelong physical activity is high on the agenda of PGS and we place great importance on the encouragement of our pupils to lead healthy, active lives beyond their time at PGS.
