Think On These Things By Juanita G. Wingo
What A Privilege Count it all joy. James 1:2
Sometimes privileges come in hard places.
The very place you dread going may be the privilege God assigned to you. The very person you dislike the most is the privilege God has assigned to you. The burden God assigns to you is a privilege.
A privilege is not a gift. It doesn’t come gift wrapped nor is it meant to be enjoyed. A privilege is an assignment. It is something that you are meant to do. You may not understand why you have to be where you are – doing what you are doing – and around the people or person with whom you are doing it, but one thing is recommended: Consider it all a joy. Why? Because this light affliction is for a season and the assignment has a purpose.
At some point the assignment will end. You will be a better person because of it. You will be more mature when the purpose is fulfilled. You will have more to offer the Kingdom of God after completing it.
So endure.
Consider it a privilege to go to that job, to work with that person, to be in that place, to suffer that loss. It is all a part of the joy that comes with the assignment. Every last bit of it. All of it is a privilege.
It will end, and when it does God will get the glory out of your efforts.
Therefore, whatever is assigned to you, do it with all your might. Get along with that person with all your might. Be in that place with all your might. Do that job with all your might.
The privilege has an assignment. It is to make you perfect. Complete your assignment so that God will get the glory.

GET HELP
My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Psalms 121:2
These days, people tend to be private, limiting social circles to a small group of intimate family & friends. That is fine when attending to daily routines in life, but when you are hurting and despondent, please reach out to a qualified therapist and get help!
• Sleeping too much or too little, early-morning waking • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities, including sex • Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions • Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts
Our culture has taught us to be firm and tough in difficult circumstances, which often keeps the Black community from engaging with therapists. This mindset is unfair and makes us stagnant during bouts of depression and anxiety. Even worse, it can create ticking time bombs.
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), is a huge factor in the Black community because we are more likely to be the victims of crime. While we are adversely affected by PTSD, no culture in the United States is immune. So as a society and especially in our community, we must remove the stigma associated with mental health therapy and embrace it as an important part of general, overall health and well being. A good therapist can aid in rethinking traumatic events. They can be used by God to formalize a path towards forgiveness and acceptance as we move forward in life.
There is no shame in being vulnerable and reaching out for help. Folks who get properly diagnosed can adjust to normal happy lives. I’m not a professional but I know rebellious children, disappointments and broken relationships – divorces, job losses, financial problems and illnesses – can leave your mind on the treadmill of despair. Depression is often perpetuated by negative thinking patterns, genetics or medications. Clinical depression can be exhibited in various forms but primarily, here are few listed symptoms: • A persistent sad, anxious or “empty” mood, excessive crying • Reduced appetite and weight loss or increased appetite and weight gain • Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive disorders and chronic pain • Irritability, restlessness • Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling “slowed down” • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness, hopelessness, pessimism
Until next time join me & Rev Williams Wingo on WOLB 1010AM Fridays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. And email me at: annwilliams@ramovers.com.
