Power: What is your title at Jones? Caple: Sales Consultant.
Power: Jones has Hyundai, Nissan, Chrysler, Toyota, Dodge, Subaru, Scion, Kia, Jeep, and more. What is your brand? Caple: I am assigned to the Hyundai Store, but I can sell anything with the Jones name. Power: What do you like about selling cars? Caple: Meeting people and being a part of the process of helping people to enjoy the buying process as far as automobiles go. Power: How many years have you been in the car industry? And how many at Jones? Caple: Nine years (in the car industry); Two years (at Jones). Power: What changes have you noticed in the automotive industry over the 9 years that you’ve been selling cars? Caple: One of the biggest changes is that the consumer is more knowledgeable, as far as knowing more about the product, knowing more about the vehicle being purchased, knowing more about the process itself. Power: What makes the Hyundai a great car? Caple…They were coming out with vehicles that people were loving. And they decided to come out with the 10-year, hundred thousand mile power train warranty. And if you look around you see others are trying emulate that. Power: What is the advantage of buying a car from you at Jones? Caple: We (Jones) do a 5-year unlimited

miles on roadside assistance. Jones goes the extra mile in that we guarantee the engine for a lifetime. We go even further. Basically, all you have to do is buy a car from Jones and become a Jones customer, and your vehicle is totally secured with the Jones family. So, we take care of you. Power: What is it that you would like every potential car buyer that comes in to buy a car from you to know? Caple: The fact that they can buy a car from somebody that not only is going to help them through the buying process, but somebody that will stand by them and stand with them throughout the ownership process. When they buy a car from me, I don’t disappear after they pull off the lot. I give them my card and tell them call me on my cell phone no matter what day or time. If there is any problem with the car, call me first so that you won’t go through the transfer process (When somebody keeps trying to transfer you, and you are holding the line. Then by the time they talk to me they are upset.). I take that out of the equation by having them call me first and let me deal with it. I’ll be that person that will be there for them not only at the beginning but throughout the process and even at the end when they are ready to trade it in and buy another one. Word Alive
…what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 God’s Word will come alive in our lives. Every Word spoken, every Word studied, every Word heard will be enacted in the lives of His people: His people of faith. God’s Word will come alive and fulfill His will. His will invokes His Word. His Word completes His will. In the fullness of time God’s Word becomes His flesh and dwells among us. And becomes us. We will carry His Word alive in us as a witness to the power of God and the goodness of God. As we read, study, and pray the Word of God, we will begin to live out its truth and grace. We will see what we ask for walking, living, and breathing. We will experience the results of our prayers. We will witness the mighty power of God’s Word alive in us. We will accept the will of God now because we can experience its goodness. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Prayer: Make your Word come alive in my life. HONORING THE LEDGEND OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN: DR. HAROLD A. CARTER, SR.
We may never know the total impact of our giving, respective ministries, benevolences, and love. What we do know is that it is more blessed to give than it is to receive. In one way, or another, the life that is before us, in tribute and memory, has touched the hearts of each of us because God graced his life with the gift of giving. The personification of the words, “charity begins at home,” this man of God gave in friendship and acquaintances, in worship and praise, in stewardship and leadership, in missions and evangelism, in study and teaching, in causes and movements, in laughter and pain, and in prayer and proclamation.
For 48 years, Harold A. Carter has been pastor of the New Shiloh Baptist Church, 1965-2013, a Baltimore, Maryland historic church of 110 ongoing years. Even after this period of over 48 years, Pastor Carter continued to convey the impact of the place of his birth, Selma, Alabama, and the strong nurture this unique city of the South had had upon his life. In Selma, Alabama, Pastor Carter was born, December 24, 1936, into the family of the late Dr. and Mrs. Nathan and Lilly Belle Carter. He would be the third of five children. His father was an Old Testament professor at Selma University for over 50 years and pastored surrounding churches. His mother was an educator, Christian leader and powerful gospel singer. It was this family that embodied deep traditional AfricanAmerican cultural influences of music, prayer, moral and motivational training that would forever motivate him to seek the deeper things of God. Pastor Carter graduated from Alabama State College, Montgomery, Alabama, in 1956, at the age of nineteen. While attending Alabama State College, Montgomery, Alabama he came to know the late Dr. Ralph David Abernathy and the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and from this growing experience, went on to the seminary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Crozer Theological Seminary, Chester, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors, three years later in 1959. Armed with nurture and motivation from Selma, the Civil Rights Movement in Montgomery; personified by the powerful personality of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the then Rev. Carter met Weptanomah Bermuda Washington while matriculating at Crozer and having been invited to preach in Philadelphia, PA, the city of her upbringing. They subsequently married in 1956. In 1959, he was called to the Court Street Baptist Church, Lynchburg. It was there where this couple laid the foundation for their ministry and family. Indeed, it was while in Lynchburg,

Virginia, that a daughter, Weptanomah Bermuda Carter and a son, Harold A. Carter, Jr., were born. Dr. Carter is credited with pioneering “team ministry,” with his wife, especially in the traditional, African-American church community. The seed for this can be traced back to the New Shiloh Worship Hour and the Bread of Life weekly radio broadcasts. He could be heard widely throughout America and abroad in numerous revivals, conferences, conventions, and crusades, as well as having led New Shiloh in conducting City-Wide Crusades at the Baltimore Arena, the Convention Center and Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Dr. Carter set a standard for Pastoral-led worship that is emulated by many pastors in their respective pulpits, today. Pastor/builder of New Shiloh New Church Complex making his ministry one of the first to build a “mega church” in the city, and pastor/builder with his son, Dr. Harold A. Carter, Jr., of New Shiloh’s (evolving) Village Community, which already includes a 76-unit Senior Living Building and a Head Start (modular) School. None of the preceding could be possible without the powerful influence and love of his wife of 48 years, the late Weptanomah Washington Carter. Their union and ministry was one that was seen as a model for many as well an inspiration. Presently, their daughter, Weptanomah Carter Davis, and son, Harold A. Carter, Jr. are both serving in Christian ministry. Weptanomah serves with her husband, First Baptist Church of Highland Park, Landover, Maryland. Harold, Jr., serves as Pastor of the New Shiloh Baptist Church, Baltimore. Together they served in mutual Pastoral Ministry for 17 years. Under Dr. Carter’s pastorate more than 130 persons have gone into Christian ministry as preachers, evangelists and pastors. Also, the periodic ministry of training disciples called Stewards of Christ has given significant impetus for developing Christian leaders, over the years.
There is something biblically significant about the almost 50 years of ministry at New Shiloh. It declares a certain era of jubilee has been reached on the one hand, and on the other hand it serves as a powerful legacy and foundation on which to expand and enlarge. It was his own primary care physician, Dr. Peter Oroszlan who said to him, during their last consultation, “Dr. Carter, you have had a magnificent ministry.” No truer words have been spoken.
