Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong said the achievement is something to be proud of, because it is the first time in the last 20 years ago. Thanks to the increasing rating, the investments flowing to Indonesia have jumped up triple and keep growing. The investment contribution to the GDP rose from 31.7 percent to 32.6 percent. The Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) grew 5.8 percent or above the economic growth. Additionally, 124 licenses, which previously handled by ministries and agencies, have been delegated to the BKPM and can be done online through the One Stop Services (PTSP). Jokowi Completes 26 Strategic Projects until December 2017 The government until December 19, 2017 has completed 26 national strategic projects (PSN), consisting of 20 projects completed in 2016 and 6 projects completed in 2017 with a total investment worth Rp46.5 trillion. Chairman of Executor Team of the Priority Infrastructure Acceleration Committee (KPPIP) Wahyu Utomo said the six completed projects in 2017 are Tanjung Priok Access Road, PLBN (border post) of Nanga Badauin Kapuas Hulu Regency, PLBN of Arukin Sambas Regency, PLBN of Winiin North Central TimorRegency, Soreang-Pasirkoja toll road and the Surabaya-Mojokerto toll road, with a total value of Rp13.1 trillion. Additionally, there are 145 projects and one program that have entered the construction
phase, 9 projects in the transaction stage while 86 projects and one program in the preparation phase. Out of the 145 projects under construction, 37 projects are partially operational. For example, the MedanKualanamu-Lubuk PakamTebing Tinggi toll road, BekasiCawang-Kampung Melayu toll road, KEK (special economic zone) Tanjung Lesung and KEK Mandalika. “The projects that we have partially operated are counted as projects in the construction
phase because they are not yet fully operational,” said Wahyu at the Penang Bistro, Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/20). Meanwhile, the achievements for the 35,000 MW electricity provision program per December 2017 comprise 998 MW (3%) already operational; 15,676 MW (44%) in the construction phase; 13,782 MW (38%) have completed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) but yet to reach financial closure; 3,163 MW (9%) in the procurement stage and 2,228 MW (6%) in the planning phase.
For the 37 priority projects, 20 projects have entered the construction phase, five projects are in the transaction process, and 12 projects are still in the preparation stage as of December 2017. The Balikpapan-Samarindatoll road project, the MRT Jakarta North-South Corridor, the Palapa Ring Broadband, the Batang Power Plant, and the Tangguh LNG Train 3 are some of the priority projects in the construction stage. Some priority infrastructure projects that have been partial-
ly operated are the Medan-Binjai toll road and the PalembangIndralaya toll road. The priority projects targeted to operate in 2018 are the Pekanbaru-Kandis-Dumai toll road, the Makassar-Parepare railway and the Palapa Ring Broadband. The projection for the progress of PSN until 2020 is 170 projects will have been operational (either partially or fully), consisting of additional 50 projects will be operated in 2018, while other 56 projectsin 2019, and 23 projects more in 2020. Defending Palestine at OIC Summit, Jokowi Suggests 6 Steps Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) suggested six moves in defending Palestine at the extraordinary summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday (12/13) while delivering his speech. President Jokowi was firmly against US President Donald Trump’s unilateral decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. “The recognition is un acceptable. Once again, President Trump’s recognition is unacceptable and must be strongly condemned,” he said. He called on all OIC countries to unite and set aside any differences to defend the Palestine. “The issue of Palestine should bring us back together.
We rounded up the voice and unity to defend the Palestine,” said the Indonesian leader. According to him, President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel not only hurt Muslims, but also hurts the sense of justice of mankind. “The hope for independence is shunned by this very unjust decision. The decision diminishes the hope of a lasting peace. Therefore, the decision must be rejected,” said Jokowi. President Jokowi further said the US unilateral decision also violates various UN Security Council Resolutions related to Palestine. Therefore, Jokowi re-affirmed his rejection. “The people of Indonesia and I believe the people of OIC
countries expect much from this summit. They hope that this summit can produce optimal and actionable results; the results whose impact can be felt for the future of Palestine,” he said. He then suggested six moves to be taken by the OIC member countries. “First, the OIC must reject the unilateral recognition. Two-state solution is the only solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine,” said President Jokowi. Second, he calls on all countries who have embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, to not follow the US decision by moving it to Jerusalem. “Third, the OIC must persuade the countries have yet to recognize Palestinian indepen-
dence to do so immediately,” he said. Fourth, the OIC member countries who have relations with Israel should take di plomatic steps. “Including the possibility of reviewing the relations with Israel in accordance with various OIC Resolutions,” the president added. “Fifth, the OIC members should take steps together to increase humanitarian aids, improve the capacity and economic cooperation with the Palestinians,” Jokowi said. Sixth, the president said the OIC become should become a motor for the movement in va r ious international and multila teral forums to support the Palestinians, including in the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly.

Sidrap mountainous area has a good wind potential with an estimated speed of about seven meters per second that is suitable to drive the propellers of the turbines. Built since April 2016 by PT UPC Sidrap Bayu Energi with an investment of US$150 million, the PLTB will be operated commercially next year. The Sidrap PLTB is capable to supply the electricity to approximately 80,000 households of 900 VA customers. In addition to Sidrap PLTB, we are also developing Jeneponto PLTB, still in South Sulawesi, which involves an investor from Denmark. The potential of wind energy in this country is about 60.6 GW. Jokowi Expects Komodo Bond to Attract Foreign Investors to Invest in RI State-owned highway company PT Jasa Marga (Persero) listed its first global bond with nominal in rupiah called the Komodo Bond on the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday (12/13). This is one of the efforts to find new funding sources to finance the infrastructure development in Indonesia. PT Jasa Marga becomes the first Indonesian stateowned enterprise (SOE) who has listed its bond, worth Rp4 trillion, on the international securities market. “The bond issuance adds to the liquidity access. This also proves that the international investors have a high interest in investing in Indonesia,” said President Jokowi after attending the OIC
Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday (12/14). Jokowi said he hoped the Komodo Bond will attract the foreign investors to invest in Indonesia. Thus, the infrastructure development can be accelerated, while creating more employment in Indonesia and introduce rupiah currency to the international investors. “Besides it also opens the access to the new funding sources to finance the infrastructure development,” he said. The bond is named Komodo after the typical indigenous Indonesian animal in East Nusa Tenggara. President Joko Widodo has called on the young or millennial generation to take advantage of the current technological and market development. According to Jokowi, the investments in the digital economy in the next five years will reach US$130 billion or approximately Rp1.75 trillion (with exchange rate at Rp13.500 per US dollar). “In the next five years there are US$130 billion investment opportunities in our country (digital economy). It’s huge, how much in rupiah? These opportunities should be taken as soon as possible,” Jokowi said in Sabuga, Bandung, on Monday (12/18). He further said that time has changed, and the digital economy now becomes a potential that must be utilized as much as possible. Currently a company is no longer measured only from the number of employees, office building and other fixed assets, but also its brand value. Jokowi then compared his furniture business that he
has developed since 27 years ago with the digital business companies like Tokopedia and Amar tha whose operations run less than half of the period. “They have a brand value of billions. Mine I think is less than Rp30 billion. This is an opportunity for the young people to plunge into the digital economy, because it provides a great opportunity,” he said. Citing the World Bank, Jokowi added, a country will have a good economic condition if four percent of the population are entrepreneurs. Currently, Indonesia now has only 3.3 percent entrepreneurs. “A very big opportunity is wide open here, but using in a new way not old school like I used to do,” said the former mayor of Solo. Jokowi also said that starting a business is not easy. Failure always overshadows every entrepreneur. However, he urged the younger generation to not give up easily. “The most important thing is first, change the paradigm after graduating from college. The performance of the national manufacturing industry still showed a positive movement in November 2017, driven by increased demand from domestic and overseas markets. The improved condition was seen in the rise of purchasing managers’ index (PMI) to 50.4 in November from 50.1 in October. The PMI figure was released by Nikkei and Markit after surveying some purchasing managers at Indonesian manufacturing companies. A PMI above 50 indicates that the manufacturing is expanding, while below 50 suggests the manufacturing is in recession. “The greater opportunities from both domestic and export markets need to be optimally utilized by the domestic industry players to maintain the momen-
tum of this getting better growth,” said Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto in a written statement on Sunday (12/10). He said the government is building various infrastructure facilities and designing regulations which will certainly have a positive impact on the business development and the welfare of the society. “Mutual synergy among the stakeholders is needed to generate inclusive and highly competitive industrial development,” Airlangga said. To achieve the target of national industrial growth, the Industry Ministry has been running six priority programs. The programs are strengthening the human resource competences through vocational education that links and matches with
the SMEs and industry, improving the industrial structure through the strengthening of the value chain, the development of exportoriented labor-intensive industries, the development of small- and medium-scale industries with digital platforms, the development of natural resource-based industries, and the development of industrial estates. “We continue to focus on encouraging the development of national industries to be more competitive in the global arena,” Airlangga said. According to him, the industrial sector provides benefits to the national economy through the increase of added value of the domestic raw materials, the absorption of local labors, and the foreign exchange earnings. It also plays an important role as the largest contributor to the economic growth in Indonesia. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported the non-oil/gas manufacturing industry still gave the largest contribution to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2017, reaching 17.76%. The contribution is higher than other sectors. Meanwhile, the growth of non-oil/gas manufacturing industry in the third quarter of 2017 reached 5.49% or above the economic growth of 5.06%. The exports of non-oil/gas processing industry in October 2017 reached US$13.67 billion, up 4.22% compared to September 2017. In comparison with the nonoil/gas exports in October 2016, it increased 17%. The non-oil/gas exports from January-October 2017 rose 14.32 percent compared to the same period in 2016. World Bank: Stronger Investment and Export Growth Continue to Strengthen Indonesia’s Economy. The Indonesian economy continued to expand at a solid pace during the third quarter of 2017 helped by commodity tailwinds and stronger domestic and external demand, according to the World Bank’s December 2017 Indonesia Economic Quarterly. Real GDP growth increased from 5.0 percent in the second quarter to 5.1 percent in the third quarter of 2017. Investment growth rose to its highest level in
more than four years and foreign direct investment recorded the largest net inflow in more than seven years. Export and import volumes registered double digit growth for the first time since 2012. “In addition to external factors such as higher commodity prices and stronger global growth, the solid performance of the Indonesian economy was also supported by a better business environment that is attracting more foreign direct investment, as well as more public capital investments, which is the direct positive impact
of fuel subsidies reduction two years ago,” said Rodrigo A. Chaves, World Bank Country Director in Indonesia. “This reflects the importance for the Government to persevere in implementing further ambitious reforms such as increasing tax collections and continuing to rationalize subsidies to accelerate infrastructure and human capital development.” There are also signs that private consumption has started to recover. Sales of consumer durables such as car and motorcycles rebounded, with the latter
jumping double-digits in the third quarter after three years of consecutive contractions. Real GDP growth is projected at 5.1 percent for 2017, accelerating to 5.3 percent in 2018 driven by continued strong investment growth, further recovery in consumption, and an increase in government spending. Effective government spending is also crucial to economic development. More than half of total government spending across all levels of government in Indonesia is conducted by sub-national governments, with 38 percent managed by district governments and 15 percent by provinces. This substantial allocation of resources to local governments, a product of Indonesia’s decentralization policy since the early 2000s, reflects the primary responsibilities of local governments to deliver basic services, notably health, education and local infrastructure. Decentralization has increased opportunities for local solutions to local problems. Access to services has improved over the past 15 years of greater decentralization, but service de-
livery outcomes vary widely among local governments. The report, titled Decentralization that delivers, examines the wide-ranging performance of local governments and identifies mechanisms to help local governments perform better. “Improving service delivery by local governments requires working on three i’s: more incentives for better performance in spending the resources the central government transfers to districts; more information for citizens and the central government to better mo nitor local government performance, and more interaction between citizens and businesses and their local governments and service providers to demand better quality,”said Frederico Gil Sander, Lead Economist for the World Bank in Indonesia. The launch of the December 2017 Indonesia Economic Quarterly is part of Voyage to Indonesia, a series of events leading up to the 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bali. Industrial Sector Absorbs 1.5 Million Manpower in 2017 The industry in Indonesia has become the largest employment sector in Indonesia. Throughout 2017, the industrial sector has employed 1.5 million workers. According to Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto, the growth of industry this year is quite encouraging. The highest growth occurred in five sectors. The first is the industry of basic metal, followed by food and beverages, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment, and transportation. “The highest growth is the base metal industry at 10.6%, followed by food and beverages at 9.49%, chemicals and pharmaceuticals at about 8%, machinery and equipment at 6.45%, and transportation at 5.63%,” said Airlangga at the National Seminar Industry Outlook 2018, Jakarta, on

He also said that the contribution of industrial sector to the Gross Domestic Product (PBD) is higher, related to the increased employment. “If we look at the contribution of the industry in the structure of GDP, it is still the largest contributor. Airlangga further said that the growth of non-oil and gas industry in 2018 is projected to reach 5.67%. Indonesia, Chile Sign Comprehensive Trade Agreement Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita and Chilean Foreign Affairs Minister Heraldo Muñoz have agreed and signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement bet ween Indonesia and Chile (IC-CEPA) in Santiago, Chile, on Thursday (12/14). The IC-CEPA is the first bilateral free trade agreement between Indonesia and a country in Latin America. The HPI and Amerop Directorate Generals play an active role in the 6-round IC-CEPA negotiations since 2014. The Directorate General of HPI even served as lead negotiator on the Working Group on Legal and Institutional Issues. The signing of IC-CEPA is a manifestation of a bilateral agreement between the Indonesian president and the president of Chile during the visit of Chile’s President Michele Bachelet to Indonesia on May 12, 2017 to complete the ICCEPA negotiations in 2017. The signing of IC-CEPA, which agrees to abolish import tariffs on some of Indonesia’s flagship products,
is expected to increase the direct trades with non-traditional trading partners in Latin America, especially Chile, which is potential to become a trade hub for Indonesian products. IC-CEPA is the second bilateral free trade agreement after the IndonesiaJapan Economic Partnership Agreement signed in 2007. Currently, Indonesia is also negotiating se-veral other bilateral free trade agreements, including with Australia and the European Union as a priority of the Indonesian government. Another free trade agreement has been signed by Indonesia is with ASEAN. The implementation of IC-CEPA will commence soon after the exchange of ratification instruments by Indonesia and Chile. The two countries also agreed to expand the IC-CEPA coverage in the future from currently only for goods to include the services and investments. Bank Indonesia (BI), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), and Bank of Thailand (BoT) have agreed on the local currency settlement framework for the trade transactions among the three countries. The launch of this cooperation is a follow-up to the signing of a bilateral me morandum of understanding between the central banks of the three neighboring countries. The three central banks agreed to work together in encouraging bilateral trades and investments using the local currency settlement framework. “Malaysia and Thailand are earlier than us. It is better for us to do this (too). So, the export-import transactions in Indonesia will be more diverse, the cost will be more efficient and certainly this will be deepening the Indonesian market,” said BI Governor Agus DW. PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta (MRT Jakarta) continues to work maximally to complete the MRT project on time. MRT Jakarta is currently working on the construction of MRT corridor 1 of South - North from Lebak Bulus to HI Roundabout. The 16 kilometers subway will have 13 stations consisting of 7 elevated stations and 6 underground stations. In general, the development progress of MRT phase 1 has reached 86.17 percent per November 26, 2017. From that percentage, the construction progress of the overpass from Lebak Bulus to Senayan has
reached 78.37 percent while for the underground channel from Senayan to HI roundabout has reached 93.95 percent. MRT Jakarta has set a target of construction progress to reach 90 to 91 percent by the end of 2017. On Thursday (12/7), KAORI had the opportunity to see first hand the progress of construction at one of the underground stations being built by MRT Jakarta. The station, the HI Roundabout, is the northernmost station in the SouthNorth subway of phase 1. When KAORI was visiting the HI Roundabout Station,
the workers were busy doing various construction jobs. In general, the works being done were the installation of tiles, electrical networks and the railway. On the 1st floor of HI Roundabout Station the works included the installation of tiles, air ducts and electrical networks. This floor will become a commercial and ticketing area. Some areas on the 1st floor have been tiled and completed with guiding blocks to help the visually impaired passengers. MRT Jakarta uses the guiding blocks with the same color as the tile which is gray. At one

Construction of SerangPanimbang Toll Road to Start in 2018, Land Acquisition to be Paid Soon The construction of the 83.6 kilometer Serang - Panimbang toll road, included in the National Strategic Projects (PSN) to access the KEK Tanjung Lesung in Banten, will begin in January 2018 without a groundbreaking ceremony. Head of the Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) of Banten Province, Hudaya Latucosina, said that previously the groundbreaking ceremony was planned to be held in October 2017 by President Joko Widodo, but failed due to various things. According to Hudaya, the cons truction of Serang-Pa nimbang toll road will be started in January 2018 without any groundbreaking ceremony. “The president will be too busy in that month, so PT Wika as the constructor has decided to drop the ceremony.” To building the toll road, 785 hectares of land areas are needed, spreading in 50 villages, 14 districts and four regencies/cities.

The progress of Light Rail Transit (LRT) development in Palembang has reached 76% and is ready to operate in June 2018. However, there will be only 5 out of 13 stations ready to operate and serve the passengers by then. Nevertheless, when inspecting the construction site, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said he hoped all the stations would be able to operate simultaneously to provide maximum services to the people of South Sumatra. “Hopefully all the 13 stations will operate simultaneously, but we will see whether it can be done or not,” said Minister Budi Karya while reviewing the development progress of LRT Palembang Zone I on Sunday night (12/10). According to the minister, the current development progress of LRT Palembang has reached 76% but the installation of steel box girder has been finished 100%. On Friday (12/15), the 24,000 mangrove seedlings were planted on the area right under the new building of Ahmad Yani Airport. “We had already planted 44 000 during in the past three years. Today there are 24,000 more mangroves,” said Maryanto. “To speed up the mangrove planting, we involve all the stakeholders from the military/police forces, the Tawangmas residents living near the airport, and the mang rove farmers,” he added. President Director of PT Jasa Marga, Desi Arryani, said the construction of the new toll road will begin in the middle of next year. “Next year we will start the construction, in the second semester,” she said on Monday (12/18). Once Kertajati Airport Operational, West Java Will Attract 50 Million Tourists
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has inspected the locations supporting the tourism in Lake Toba, a tourist destination for priority development. After accompanying President Jokowi in inaugurating the Silangit International Airport Terminal, he went to Sigapiton Village, Toba Samosir Regency, on the eastern edge of Lake Toba. The small village has been selected as a pilot project for the Homestay Village Development by the Ministry of Tourism. It was the second visit of the minister to Sigapiton Village, while the first was held on July 8. Since October 15, 2017 two units of homestay named “Jabu Na Ture” have been set up. The homestays were built
based on the designs made by participants of the competition of bamboo made Homestay Nusantara and Homestay Ecopod held by the tourism ministry. Bamboo is a type of plant that grows quickly in many areas in Indonesia. Bamboo is easy to find, and its maintenance is also easy. The design of the Jabu Na Ture Homestay is inspired by the typical Jabu Bolon, the traditional house of Batak Toba tribe, but with a modification by using bamboo material which is cheaper and environmentally friendly. The homestay development is funded by the Tourism Ministry to socialize to the community how to maintain the local architectural characteristics (archipelago architec-
ture), and to make the homestay as one of community tourism businesses. The further development of the homestay will be offered to the private investors. The two homestays in the Lake Toba area are expected to boost the interest of local people to designs their homes as homestays so that the village can run the tourism business independently. The minister also noticed the involvement of Pelindo in supporting tourism in Tomok and said he hoped PokDarWis and the regent would enhance the coordination with other parties to develop tourism for prospering the local people. The Government of West Java is optimistic the number of tourists will increase significantly after the Kertajati West Java Airport (BIJB) operational in 2018. According to West Java Tourism and Culture Office, 50 million of foreign and domestic tourists will visit West Java afterward. Head of West Java Tourism and Culture Office Ida Hernida said the airport, located in Kertajati District, Majalengka Regency, will provide a new access for the domestic and foreign tourists. “Our target is in the year 2018, we will bring in 48 million domestic tourists, I believe will be more, and more than one million foreign tourists,” said Ida Hernida in Bandung, on Friday (12/15). Ida further said that the figures were not overestimated, because until November 2017, the number of tourists coming to West Java had reached 46 million. This number has already reached the target for 2017. As for the foreign tourists, unfortunately it is still under one million until early this December.
“For foreign tourists, the number only reached 600,000 per November but this must increase in December due to the Christmas and New Year holidays,” she added. According to Ida, tourism is very important to continue to be developed, considering that this sector can become the locomotive for the economic growth as well as to serve as the main source of state revenue. The data from Bank Indonesia (BI) in 2016 show the tourism contribution to the economy in West Java, especially accommodations and restaurants, reached Rp33 trillion. Even the national tourism contributes the second largest foreign exchange after the oil and gas sector. “The BIJB will benefit the tourism sector even more. It will surely boost the number of tourists, especially from the overseas with the availability of the direct flights,” said Ida. PT Banten West Java (BWJ) as the developer of the Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Tanjung Lesung granted 62,434 square meters or 6.2 hectares of land to the Pandeglang Regency administration during the event of Technical Guidance and Socialization of Regional Property Management held in the Hotel Mutiara Carita on Monday (12/4) morning. The land document was handed over by President Director of PT BWJ Poernomo Siswoprasetijo to Regional Assistant for Public Administration and People’s Welfare of Pandeglang Regency Undang Suhendar. Besides as a form of cooperation, the grant is also to facilitate the participation of regency in the management of tourism in the region. Poernomo said that on some of the granted land will be built a road and a landfill in Kampung Cikadu, Tanjungjaya Vil-
lage, Panimbang District, covering 36,234 square meters of the land. Meanwhile the other 24,300 square meters of the land is for the development of Cikadu Tourism, and the rest of 2,000 square meters will be used for an office building. “This grant is fully our initiative (BWJ). It is expected to make the KEK Tanjung Lesung more attractive to the investors and tourists,” he added. Poernomo also said the technical development on the granted land is entirely the responsibility of the regency administration, in cooperation with the central government through the Directorate General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). “I am optimistic that early 2019 the KEK Tanjung Lesung will go global, considering the regional development planning in 2018 has been done well.”
Meanwhile Regional Assistant Undang Suhendar said he will soon make the plan on how to manage the granted land in KEK Tanjung Lesung optimally to achieve the goal. “The goal is to prosper the community around the KEK. They are not a spectator, but a player who should benefit from the existing of the tourist destination,” he said. Undang added there is no problem for the regional and the central governments in funding the KEK development as long as the land ownership status is clear. “If a land is built by the government, the land should belong to the government.” On the same occasion, Head of Regional Tax Services (BP2D) of Pandeglang Regency Utuy Setiadi said the contribution of PT BWJ to the local revenue is quite good. The value reaches Rp200

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has recorded an increase in the number of investors by 44 percent in the past two years, followed by an increase in the value of domestic investments throughout 2017. “The number of investors is up to 1.12 million, while the increase in value of domestic investments reached Rp340 trillion this year,” Head of Corporate Communication Division of BEI Yulianto Aji Sadono said in a press release on Friday (12/29). Yulianto said the last trad-

In addition to the increase in the number of investors and the value of investments, the year 2017 was also closed with 37 additional companies listed at the stock exchange through the initial public offering (IPO). “The number is the highest ever at the BEI in the last 23 years and even the highest in Southeast Asia,” said Yulianto. The company has targeted to sell 3,800 units in 2018. UNTR Corporate Secretary Sara K. Loebis said that in 2017 the sales of Komatsu heavy equipment by UNTR might reach 3,500 units. In 2016 UNTR only booked the sales of Komatsu at 2,118 units. That means the 2017 sales increase 60.47% year on year (yoy). The high target was supported by the good sales in the first ten months of 2017. Until October 2017, UNTR sold 3,058 units of Komatsu. On average, 306 units of heavy equipment were sold by UNTR per month. So, in the last two months of 2017, UNTR would only need to sell 442 more units to achieve the target. PT Jababeka Tbk (“KIJA”) recorded a total consolidated revenue of Rp 2,329.4 billion in the first nine months of 2017, an increase of 20% compared to the same period of 2016. This growth was mainly driven by the Company’s Land Development & Property and Infrastructure business pillars, which saw revenue increase 23% and 20% year-on-year respectively. Land Development & Property was mainly driven by an increase in revenue contribution from Kendal, which increased nearly tenfold from Rp 29.4 billion in 9M16 to Rp 269.7 billion as per 9M17 on the back of improved sales. PT Nippon Indosari Corpindo Tbk (ROTI) is set to acquire 51% shares of PT Prima Top Boga (PTB), a company engaged in frozen dough of bread and pastry products in Indonesia.
“PT Nippon and PTB have signed a cooperation agreement, stating that PT Nippon will buy 51% shares of PTB,” said Nippon Indosari management in a written statement to the Indonesia Stock Exchange
in Jakarta on Monday (11/27). PT Nippon Indosari, producer of Sari Roti breads, will make additional investments either directly or indirectly within the next three years. “The investment will be done in stages in accordance with the performance of PTB during the cooperation,” it said. Bonlight Investment, one of major shareholders of Nippon Indosari, partially discounted its shares on November 6, 2017. Bonlight released its 159,711,531 ROTI shares at Rp1,275 per share or Rp203,632,202,025. With the sale, the ownership of Bonlight Investment in PT Nippon Indosari decreased from 1,445,696,431 shares or representing 23.4% to 1,285,984,900 shares or 20.79%. As of the third quarter of 2017, Nippon Indosari Corpindo recorded a slight decline in sales compared to the
same period last year. This decline surely lowered the company’s earnings. Therefore, it needs the commitment of all parties to promote good investment climate for oil and gas upstream industry in Indonesia. “In the next 37 years, oil and gas will be still the main source of energy for Indonesia, especially for transportation, power plants and factories,” Didik said while speaking at the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of Oil and Gas in Ku-ningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (12/15). According to Didik, recently the findings of new oil and gas reserves in Indonesia are decreasing due to lessening exploration activities. This happens because of many factors, includingthe too many licen-ses and uncertainty is-
sues on the rules and regulations. Based on the data of BP Statistical Review 2016, Indonesia’s proven oil reserves by the end of 2015 were only 3.6 billion barrels. The proven gas reserves, referring to the same data, were estimated at around 100.3 trillion cubic feet (TCF). “The problem is, the daily consumption of oil in this country reaches 1.6 million barrels. Of that number, only about 800,000 barrels are supplied from the domestic production while the rest have to be imported,” Didik said. He added that the licensing isone of the real challenges that must immediately get a solution to avoid the energy crisis from hitting Indonesia in the near future. “Currently, the oil and gas contractors must take care of 373 types of licenses to be able to sell their products,” he said, complaining. To cope with the electricity crisis in the islands located in the outer, border and disadvantaged (3T) are as, especially in the Riau Islands Province (Kepri), PLN through its Riau Islands Regional Office continues to add the diesel generator units. The state-owned electricity company has invested Rp721 billion for power generation in the Riau Islands. In addition to the diesel generator, recently PLN has also installed thesolar panels to generate
the electricity. The islands are considered having better sunrays than the main land of Sumatra. “The solar power generation (PLTS) is simple and does not cost that much since we don’t need to buy the fuel. In the outer islands like these, transportation becomes the main obstacle for us to serve the customers maximally,” said General Manager of PLN Riau Islands Regional Office DwiSuryo Abdullah. According to Dwi, the PLTS have been installed in two islands, namely SugiBawah Is-
land, Moro District, KarimunRegency, and Siantan Island in the Rintis Village, Siantan District, Anambas Regency. Both PLTS are operated from 08.00 WIB to 17.00 WIB or approximately for nine hours. The PLTS in the Siantan Island has a daily capacity of 65 kW on average, so in a month they are able to produce 17,500 kWh of electricity. In the meantime, the PLTS in the SugiBawah Island, Moro, is bigger. The capacity of this PLTS can reach 150 kW daily which is considered more efficient. (SWA/TPP)

Going Smart, Cikarang Dry Port Launches MyCDP Application Cikarang Dry Port, managed by PT Cikarang Inland Port, has been developing a smart port concept to accelerate and simplify its services and support the national logistics system. The smart port concept is in line with the government’s efforts to streamline the national logistics and support the integration system of Indonesia National Single Window. As an early stage of the smart port development, starting from last early May, the Cikarang Dry Port has been implementing the auto gate system, truck membership and association connected to the port service system, customs and quarantine. This development aims to simplify the process and facilitate the exchange of data in a paperless system. Now the Cikarang Dry Port, as a spoke and hub of the Tanjung Priok Port, is preparing to launch a mobile application called MyCDP. The soft launching will be done tomorrow on Wednes-
day (12/13) in Jakarta according to the invitation received by pre sidentpost.id. The application will make users easier to track their containers, oversee the reefer containers, estimate the terminal charge bill, and order a truck for delivery. This will certainly make it easier for the customers to manage their logistics activities by only using their smart phone whenever and wherever they like. As a breakthrough in the logistics industry, we were curious about the MyCDP application. It can be downloaded from the Google Play although it’s still unreleased. However, we could not try it because we must have the registration ID which is only given to the Cikarang Dry Port customers after being verified. What we could do just looking around the features offered by the application. On the homepage there are 5 menus, namely Container Tracking, Reefer Data, Tariff Simulation, Associate and
Feeder Service. The Container Tracking menu provides information of container whereabout, the time of exiting or entering the sea port and the time of coming or leaving the Cikarang Dry Port, as well as information on related documents. The Reefer Data menu provides information on the condition and temperature of the reefer containers while in the container terminal of Cikarang Dry Port. The Tariff Simulation menu is a tool to estimate the total cost of terminals used by the containers after leaving them at the specified dates. The Associate menu provides information on the trucking or other transport modes providers can be used after the issuance of the bill of lading. The Feeder Service menu is used to order and monitor the delivery services, pickup, and domestic transportation modes. Wait for our next report tomorrow. (TPP)
The government’s efforts to improve the logistics efficiency seem to show results. At least it is reflected in the increasing volume of goods handled in a number of major ports in the country. The container terminal of TPK Koja records the throughput from both international and domestic shipping companies exceeding 1 million TEUs until the first week of December 2017. This figure is the highest ever since the terminal was established 20 years ago. “The throughput of more than 1 million TEUs is a monumental achievement for TPK Koja,” said General Manager of TPK Koja Ade Hartono in Jakarta on Sunday (12/10). According to him, until the end of this year, the management of TPK Koja estimates the total throughput will reach 1.095 million TEUs, or 31% higher than the target for 2017 set at 830,531 TEUs. The achievement will support the government program
in cost-efficient logistics to spur the national economic growth. The administration of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) targets to increase the efficiency and cut the loading and unloading time at the ports. Besides lowering the logistics costs, the goal is also to increase the volume of goods and services handled at the ports. Hopefully, the wheels of the economy will spin faster. “The achievement tanks also to the support of relevant stakeholders, especially the operation of the northern pier,” Ade said. He added the accomplishment will become a reference for the company to run according to the corporate roadmap that has been compiled until 2020. “We must continue to make improvements to maintain this achievement, especially in improving the service quality and repairing the supporting facilities.” Ade also said the exceeding 1 million TEUs throughput was supported by appropriate market penetration strategy according to the corporate roadmap. “In the future, TPK Koja will con-
tinue to focus on the growth of volume and profit as well as the creation of new services that support the core business, such as integrating the transshipment services.” Another achievement of TPK Koja this year as the increase of Box Crane per Hour (BCH), migration from ISO 9001: 2008 to ISO 9001: 2015, and awarded as the best implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). TPK Koja Corporate Secretary Nuryono Arief said that the BCH (loading and unloading containers from and to the ship) as of September 2017 reached 23 boxes per hour, up from 20 boxes per hour at the same period last year. TPK Koja, Arief said, was certified with ISO 9001: 2015 in April 2017. At the end of October 2017, TPK Koja was declared worthy of ISO 9001: 2015 certificate after an independent audit. Do not let the geopolitical dynamics cause divisions in our nation. Geopolitical dynamics may affect directly or indirectly on the interests of the Indonesian people, both in the social, economic, political and military,” said Kris Wijoyo Soepandji. The Founding Partner of the Krisna Strategic Policy Firm in his book says there are four important historical events which were influenced by the geopolitical dynamics. ITB’s Geological Engineering Students Triumph Asian Competition The students from Engineering Geology of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) won a competition organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineering Pandil Deanayal Petroleum University Student Chapter (SPE PDPU SC) at the Ghandhinagar, Gujarat, India, in November. The ITB team was victorious in two categories; the first ca tegory is Showcase (Paper and Poster Competition) won by Rio, Fernaldy Sebastian Santoso, and Betari Ayu Pramita (Engineering Geology class 2015). The second category is Geology (Geology Challenge) won by Fernaldy Sebastian Santoso, Rio, and Zaky Indra Putra Ramita (Engineering Geology class 2015). In the competition, Rio and his friends had to go through a series of difficult selection phases. At the Showcase category, the first stage of abstract selection required the contestants to come up with an idea or brief writing about geology. There were 60 abstracts submitted which after being discussed, were presented before the judges. Rio and his team presented an idea about mapping the pattern of seepage spreads of the
shallow gas on the east coast of Sidoarjo. The team also discussed various types of geolo gical factors that control the dispersion of the seepage pattern. According to Rio, the advantage of his team’s presentation to make them a winner was in its simplicity and easy to understand by multidisciplinary sciences. At the Geo-log category, the contestants had to answer basic questions related to geology. After that, from 100 Geolog participant teams, at the end 6 teams were selected to move to the final round where they were tested for their understanding on the basic geology concepts such as mapping and rock description. Rio said he experienced some obstacles to participate in the competition, especially related to the finance. Rio said his team did not have enough money to cover the transport to India, but the ITB’s Engineering Geology Study Program provided the financial assistance so that Rio and the team were able to fly to India and participate in the competition. Five students of Law Faculty (FH), Airlangga University (Unair) Surabaya, won “The 12th Indonesian National Round of the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition” organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Indonesia at Trisakti University, Jakarta, in November 2017. The five students are Cristian (oralist), Devi Salsabila (oralist), Amri Rahayu Putri (researcher), Aulia Putri Yunanda (observer), and Alfian Rasyidi (official). As the winner, the team is automatically chosen as the Indonesia’s representative in the Asia Pacific level of the competition next year in Hong Kong.
Their success was praised by the Rector of Unair Prof Moh. Nasih while welcoming them on Friday (11/1), accompanied by Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso and Chairman of the Department of International Law Iman Prihandono. “Congratulations and thank you for the achievement. I want the regeneration of students like this, so that this achievement can be maintained,” said Prof. Moh Nasih. Chairman of the Department of International Law Iman Prihandono added his students frequently triumph such a moot court competition, including winning the Spirit of The Jessup Award trophy twice in the “Phillip C. Jessup International Law
Moot Court Competition” as the oldest moot court competition in Indonesia. They also won the National Moot Court Competition held by Law Faculty of University of Indonesia late last year. “For the ICRC competition, the FH Unair delegation prepared it in four months with the support of the lecturers,” said Iman Prihandono. According to him, the team won the National Round after winning the semi-final in a fierce battle against the Gajah Mada University team. Then in the final round the Unair team beat the team from the University of Indonesia (UI). “Besides winning the first prize, one member of the delegation, Cristian, FH student
of class 2014 was awarded with The 3rd Best Oralist from the Whole Preliminary Round,” he said. As the winner, the team will be sent to represent Indonesia in the 16th AsiaPacific Round of the Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition 2018 to be held in Hong Kong on March 7-10, 2018. “As Indonesia’s representative to compete in the international arena, the delegates are asking for support and prayers from the Unair leaders and all UNAIR academicians so that they will be able to perform well and win the competition,” he said. I went to Medan in early December and for some reason what I thought was only Ucok Durian. Maybe because it’s been viral after visited by President Jokowi or just curious why many people sell the durian online in Jakarta. My first visit to the durian store was on the morning of December 2, 2017 at 11:00 pm. By using an online taxi, I went to the store which is quite close to my hotel. Once at the store, I could see the cashier was busy serving customers who were making payments or picking the durian packages for take-out. Ucok Durian prepares the packages nicely for take-out with the prices ranging from Rp125,000 for the smallest to Rp550,000 for the biggest. I asked for 2 durians for dine-in with my wife, and ... Ucok durian is indeed so delicious. I think it’s best for you to try yourself or you can guess the taste from the picture I took below. I really like it and what I can say this durian is very creamy and makes you want more. Ucok Durian also guarantee its products so that if the customer does not like the durian given, they can exchange it with another. Ucok Durian only accepts cash and you can withdraw money from ATMs in the store if you run out of cash. The 200-seat store is also completed with toilets and musholla, making the customers feel at home while enjoying the durian. A firm statement was displayed on almost every corner of the dining place, saying Ucok Durian does not have any branch and does not sell online. Any
complaint from other than the store will not be responded. But do not worry, Ucok Durian takes the orders for delivery in Medan and Jabodetabek area by the phone number printed on the board. Additional menus are also available like pancakes, dodol (sweets), cendol and ice cream, with durian flavor of course. I glimpsed Mr. Zainal, the owner Ucok Durian, briefly so I did not have a change to speak to him. On my last day in Medan or the next day, I went back at 5.30 pm. I was surprised to find the store was packed with customers and durians piled up, while the owner was watching. This time I got the chance to talk with Mr. Zainal Abidin Chaniago or Ucok, but not for long because I had to catch the train to Kualanamu Airport. “25 Years ago, I was selling durian at the corner of Jalan Iskandar Muda in front of a store,” said Ucok, adding he could only open his business after dusk, after the store was closed. Now Ucok is assisted by 30 employees and every day he can sell 3,000 durians. In holidays 7,000 durians are sold with a turnover per day reaches Rp75 million. It is a great achievement for Ucok. His store becomes a favorite destination for tourists who want to eat fine durian with good services and complete facilities in the middle of the city. Justin Rose Wins Indonesian Masters 2017 Golf Tournament

British Justin Rose won the Indonesian Masters 2017 golf tournament held at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club ending on Sunday (12/17). He continued to lead until the last round with the final score of 10 below par (62).
Weather disturbances, which forced the organizer to delay some rounds and rearranged the schedule, did not affect the performance of the world number six golfer. After finishing 10 holes in the third round on Sunday morning, Rose started the fourth round
after 30 minutes break. Rose opened the game in the fourth round with a birdie (a stroke below par) on the third hole before continuing his winning run with four consecutive birdies from the fifth hole and an eagle (two under par) in the ninth hole.
Rose’s domination was not interrupted as he added three more birdies in the next four holes, bringing the total score to 29. The 2016 Olympic gold medalist once made a bogey (one stroke above par) in the 16th hole, but he entertained the Royale Jakarta Golf Club audience with a birdie in the 18th hole to win a total score of 29-under par (259). The second position was won by Phachara Khongwatmai from Thailand with the score of 65, while Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent completed the fourth round with a score of 69 and won the third place in the Indonesian Masters 2017 as the closing tournament of
the Asian Tour. Meanwhile, Indian golfer S. Chikkarangappa grabbed the Tour Card, ousting Chinese golfer Liu Yan-wei in last position of 61 in the Asian Tour Order of Merit. He is entitled to play in the Asian Tour next year. Regarding the achievements of the national golfers in the Indonesia Masters 2017 tournament, George Gandranata came out as the best with a total score of 287 (one under par). He is in the position 56 (T56), while the second best was Rory Hie with the score of 288 (even par) and in the position T59. (TPP)
