Order of Service Music Prelude Processional Ministers, Funeral Directors, Family Scripture Old & New Testament Prayer On March 31, 1987, God and all His glory blessed the world by sending one of His Angels to us in the form of a young man destined to be great and was pure and loving at heart. On that day Darvin Don’te Reece Hopkins known to most as “Dee Hop” was born to Shawn Michelle Reece and Gregory Eric Don Hopkins in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Darvin accepted Christ at an early age and vowed to live his life pleasing to God. Over the years he attended Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church, Jernigan Memorial Church of the Nazarene and most recently until his passing he attended People’s Church. Darvin attended Millwood Public Schools from Pre-K – 12th grade where he would graduate with honors in 2005. He received numerous awards and was on the Honor Roll while attending Millwood. He also would receive the Citizenship Award, Student of the Month Award and he was part of the ROTC where he ranked high. This is just a few of many achievements Darvin had accomplished while attending Millwood. After graduating from high school, Darvin took to the work force where he continued to excel and became a pillar to those around him and built a fine life for himself. He worked for the Daily Oklahoman for 10 years until the company transitioned and moved to another city. Like always, Darvin had received several awards which included Top Performer Award and several Employee of the Month awards. As the Daily Oklahoma moved they offered Darvin to move but he made the decision to stay in Oklahoma City. Soon afterwards he began work at Jasco Company where he would work until his untimely passing. Darvin was a hard worker and diligent in his work as well as his life. Just like in life with family and friends, in the workforce his employers could always count on him to perform well and be on time. He never once got wrote up, fired, never got in trouble and was always dependable. He was a dedicated man living life as he always had. Darvin loved being around family and friends spending time laughing and joking. He also loved playing basketball, video games, bowling, going to movies, visiting and joking with his cousins and all around just enjoyed living life. Darvin would be considered the father of all his cousins. His two favorite sports teams
were the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved attending the Thunder games and he would always have so much fun. Dee would often like to listen to gospel and jazz music while he would move and groove his body to it. Darvin will surely be remembered for having a nice kind big heart, a loving caring spirit and a pure gentle soul. His laugh could be heard from the next room and was as loving as he was. His smile was as warm and inviting as a cool summer day. He could joke with you and all you could do is just laugh and smile. Dee was caring, giving, compassionate, outstanding…just too many variables to mention and words really can’t describe who Darvin really was. He was loved and admired by more people than even he probably knew. He is preceded in death by; his great grandparents, Ivy and Bertha Reece and JT and Betty Hicks; grandparents, Karen Hopkins Mitchell and Lawrence Wesson, Sr. He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving parents, Shawn M. Reece and Gregory Eric Don (Jackie) Hopkins; grandparents, Patricia Reece, Charles Westbrook and Leonard Hopkins all of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Shalarice Hopkins, Shakita Hopkins, Karen Hopkins and Audrianna Lewis all of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Eric Hopkins and Edwin Lewis both of Oklahoma City; aunts, Alisha Wesson (Alton) Harkey and Samantha Hopkins (Phillip) Grant of Oklahoma City; uncles, Keith (Marisa) Turner of Oklahoma City, Von (Vicki) Reece of San Antonio, TX, Ivy Reece, Paige (Susan) Wesson, Lawrence Wesson, Jr. and Raynard Hopkins all of Oklahoma City; best friend, best brother, Millwood Falcons, Buddy, William “Will” Watson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to name but yet not forgotten. Darvin was called home to the next chapter in life and to move on to his next assignment on April 17, 2022. Gone from us way too soon but forever remembered and never to be forgotten. Rest easy son “Dee Hop” til we meet again.
