ON THE WATERFRONT

Your doctor’s always telling you that getting some fresh air is good for your health.

In the Fenelon Falls area that’s pretty easy to do and you can make some fantastic family memories at the same time. Here’s just a sample of what you can find.

The Victoria Rail Trail is used by cyclists and hikers as a great way to get up close and personal with Mother Nature. And there are plenty of other trail options in the area.

The Kawartha Cycling Club (kawarthacyclingclub.com) can provide more information about cycling in Fenelon Falls and area or how to join one of their special events and excursions.

If winter sports are more your thing, connect with the Kawartha Lakes Snowmobile Club in Fenelon Falls (www. klsc.ca). They can give you information about their OFSC prescribed trails that will take you to a number of towns in the area, including Cameron, Rosedale, Coboconk, Burnt River and, of course Fenelon Falls.

Their trail system joins Heart of Ontario to the south and west, Haliburton Snowmobile Association to the north and Twin Mountains to the East.

A visit to Ken Reid Conservation Area is a great way to spend the day outdoors in winter. The area is 110 hectares and is the flagship conservation area for Kawartha Conservation.

There are several loop trails that lead through forests, meadows and wetlands.

As well, many of our area resorts offer their own trails for winter and summer outdoor activities.
