COULD WE GET A SHORT INTRODUCTION? J: I’m Mr. Jonathan, the high school art teacher. L: I’m Mrs. Lyndsey, the wife, haha. We’ve been married for only 10 and a half months. J: And we’ve moved to Thailand pretty much immediately after getting married. L: A little over 6 months ago. We’ve been in Thailand for over half of our marriage. We heard about the opportunity [to come to Thailand] about a week after we got
Was having an online wedding a strain on your relationship? J: I think we were more sad for friends and family not being able to join us. But the whole experience was beautiful and fun in different ways that we couldn’t have anticipated. It ended up being a really fun and enjoyable experience. L: Yea, I don’t feel like we missed anything. I felt like the family missed out from being there in person, but I thought it was still great that we got to get married 2 months earlier.
DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD EVER HAVE ANOTHER CELEBRATION AFTER COVID? J: We’d still like to have a reception. L: My brother got married in January, so my parents’ two kids have Covid weddings, so we might do something together.
How did it feel getting married and moving to another country at the same time? J: I think it felt a lot like a whirlwind, but I think it was a little bit easier to make a lot of big changes at the same time. L: Because getting married causes a lot to change and moving causes a lot to change, it feels like they go hand in hand when we do them tog together. J: And it feels fun, sort of like a big adventure.
Would you consider being in Thailand as your honeymoon? J: Well, we joke that it’s going to be a 2 year long honeymoon. L: But we did go to Phuket over Christmas.
Going into some fluffy questions, what were your first impressions of each other? J: Stunningly cute. L: Attractive.
What was your first date? J: I took her out to breakfast.
What was your impression of the date? L: It was really good. We sat and just kept getting the refillable coffee two hours after we finished breakfast because we were still chatting. And I thought he was very smart and interesting. Maybe a little mysterious.
Have you started any traditions through your dating time? J: A tradition we started very early on was praying together, so that was very nice to connect. L: And a prayer journal that we made. We fill it out with things we’re thankful for and hopeful for… We had to start a new one recently because we finished our old one.
What is your favorite thing to do together? L: Well, I really love hiking, but we haven’t really been able to do that. That’s my favorite thing to do. We also like to go to the pool together and swim. And eating. J: Working out. L: Yea, working out and then eating.
Would you say that Mr. Jonathan fits the stereotype of an art teacher? L: Hmm… Yes and no… He loves to teach people art, but more specifically loves how to explain how he did something. He likes to assist more than lecture and is very hands-on. J: I think a stereotype that’s very true is that all of my clothes are stained with some art material. L: Haha, absolutely. It’s a part of life.
Some people have found your (Mrs. Lyndsey’s) social media accounts. Is that a hobby or just something you’ve always done? L: I am doing a blog; it’s a combo of many things. It’s a travel blog for my family, but it’s also an update blog of what I’m doing workwise. I guess I’m taking some photos for the blog, but I don’t know if I have a good eye. J: She’s very artistic and has a good eye.
