Start small.
For those of us who like switching things up every now and then, there are so many options that can really make any room look like it had a makeover. Simple items such as vases, picture frames and accent furniture make a room look completely different. Choosing a coordinating color or an accent color can be the foundation of the look you are trying to achieve in any room. Switching out old photos frames for new or vintage frames makes the walls pop. Take it a step further by switching out the actual photo itself to incorporate moments that represent you such as wedding photos or a favorite family vacation photo. Floating shelves are also a great option to break up a boring wall by placing them at different levels. This can also elongate and widen a small room by making it appear to be bigger.
Consider paint or wallpaper
If you are focusing on changing things up on the walls, don’t be afraid to paint or buy wallpaper. Choosing a wall color that coordinates with any accent colors in the room is a great idea. You can paint walls a solid color, or even be brave and paint stripes, or a chevron pattern on an accent wall. If painting seems like a daunting or time consuming idea, there are easy options like self-adhesive wallpaper or self-adhesive design stickers. Wallpaper can quickly change the design of any room! It’s an inexpensive idea that can work with any budget. To make a wall color pop, you can also consider changing the lighting in any room! Lamps, bulbs, and chandeliers come in all types of shapes, styles, and colors. A new coordinating light fixture can help achieve the look in any room you want to redesign.
Change up your furniture
Another easy idea to switch things up is to buy new furniture. You don’t have to spend an excessive amount of money. Set your budget and shop accordingly! You can even go to resale stores or thrift shops to find interesting furniture pieces. New couches, sofas and lounge chairs make any room pop! If you’re unable to buy new furniture, try inexpensive blankets, colorful throws or accent pillows to easily update your room. Slip covers for furniture can also be a great option as they are easy to remove and can make an old couch go from drab to fab! Accent pieces such as side tables or a coffee table are great purchases that can be used for years! An even easier way to change your room’s new look is with an area rug. 7 SIGNS THAT YOUR ROOF IS IN NEED OF REPAIR Having a solid roof over our heads is something we may not always think about maintaining, but have you looked at the state of your roof lately? There are tell-tale signs that your asphalt shingle roof is in need of repair or is nearing its end. You may not need to replace your entire roof, but the following signs indicate you may need to contact a licensed roofing contractor. Your roof doesn’t need to be old to fail and it’s not always easy to detect a problem. The following are signs that your roof may need some TLC:
1 Your roof is no longer a teenager. Typically, an asphalt shingle roof lasts between 20 and 30 years. Just because it’s getting older doesn’t mean you need to replace it. But it is best to be diligent about maintenance and know that its lifespan may only be another few years. If your roof has been around for 25 years - it may still have a few years left, but it’s best to pay attention for any signs of failure or even have it assessed.
2 The shingles are curling. If your shingles are curling at the edges or have buckled in the middle, they can easily be ripped off and leave your roof with bare spots. Damaged shingles makes your roof more susceptible to wind damage that can

allow for water entry or damage from ice during those long Nova Scotia winters.

Missing shingle granules. If you’re finding shingles with missing granules, or you notice large amounts of granules in your gutters, your roof may be nearing its expiration date. Missing granules can also indicate
that your eavestroughs or rain spouts are poorly placed. Excessive water flow on your roof may remove the granules from the shingles. You certainly don’t want bald shingles! Bald shingles age quicker because they’re easily affected by weather and then have the potential to become an entry point for water.

Damaged flashing. Flashing is a material used for weatherproofing your roof. It’s often aluminum or galvanized steel and used around sky lights, chimneys and roof valleys to protect water from making its way through your roof. If you notice some flashing that has lifted or is damaged, it’s a sign that your roof may be susceptible to water damage.
7 Your roof is sagging.
If this is something you notice when you’re in the attic or you can see it from the outside of your home, you should contact a professional immediately. This is a sign that the structural integrity of your roof may be compromised.
