The annual Orange County Sheriff Posse (OCSP) 2014 Rodeo has changed dates. It will still be located at the Orange County Sheriff Posse Arena on Farm Road 105, a half mile east of Texas Highway 62 in Orange. This year, the rodeo will be held Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. They hope to have cooler temperatures and maybe drier weather this year by moving the event to spring. Each year the OCSP Rodeo

Ribbon Run competition which consists of teams of two (one male and one female) who may enter for $10 per team with the goal of pulling the ribbon from a calf’s tail and crossing the finish line first,” Rhoden. Some of our neighbors to the east are saying this year’s crawfish crop is not as bountiful as in years past. Jay Voorhies, for instance, is an owner of a well-known crawfish restaurant named Gator Cover near Lafayete, La. He said this is the worst he has seen in crawfish quality in 30 years as a restaurateur and as a farmer, according to an article titled “Crawfish businesses feeling the pinch” in the March 12, 2014 edition of the The Daily Advertiser. “This is the worst winter I can remember in years,” Voorhies said. “Crawfish are kind of like people, in a respect. You know, when it feels good outside, you want to be outside. When it’s cold outside, you don’t typically want to be outside. Being a police officer was in his blood and after four years away from law enforcement, Joey Hargrave has returned and currently works at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “Once it is in your blood, it is hard to get out,” Hargrave said. It was four years ago this week, Hargrave left the Bridge City Police Department. He worked in Bridge City for 26 years. Initially, when he began his job in law enforcement, it was intended to be temporary. ‘Once I got both of my feet into it, I never moved,” he said.
