The residents were key participants in the development of Olmstead Park in 1992, by working with the district at public meetings and donating volunteer work hours during the installation of the playground equipment.

Customer Service Pledge

Our satisfaction guarantee is our promise to provide quality parks, facilities, recreation programs and leisure services that meet the expectations of our customers. If you are not satisfied with any recreational program the HEPD provides due to the quality of instruction, the child’s inability to adapt emotionally to the class, or the inappropriate skill level for the registered participant, a full refund will be processed. To determine that a class does not meet their satisfaction, participants must attend the first two class sessions, but request a refund and fill out all appropriate paperwork before the third class meeting. Hoffman Estates Park District Initiatives

The NRPA has identified three values – Conservation, Health & Wellness and Social Equity — to describe how Parks and Recreation agencies across the nation are working in thousands of communities to touch the lives of millions of people. Here at HEPD, our Green Team, HEALTH and Social Equity initiatives parallel NRPA’s three pillars. Here’s how:

Green Team Initiatives Our Green Team works toward NRPA’s Conservation Pillar to reduce the carbon footprint of our facilities, parks and programs and to educate our community on ways to be green. When you see this symbol, look for tips on how to reduce, reuse and recycle. HEALTH stands for “Helping Everyone Achieve A Lifestyle that’s Healthy” and represents our efforts to reduce the rate of childhood obesity in our community; consistent with NRPA’s Health & Wellness Pillar. Wherever you see the apple, you’ll find health tips and programs that encourage a healthy lifestyle for all.

Social Equity

Community Commitment

The HEPD remains committed to providing the best recreation and leisure services to our community. With our “satisfaction guaranteed” pledge, residents and their guests can be assured that the HEPD staff will work not only to meet expectations, but surpass them.

Park Board of Commissioners

The governing body of the Park District is comprised of seven elected commissioners who represent the recreational needs of their community for four year, unpaid terms. Park commissioners have the power to levy taxes within prescribed limits, establish or change Park District policies, sign agreements, award contracts and possess all of the powers similar to those of a board of directors for a public corporation. Park commissioners work as a board to interpret the park and recreation needs of the community, formulate short and long term plans and inform the public of the purpose, worth and extent of the district’s services, parks and facilities.

Board Meetings

At HEPD, we value the philosophy that our parks and recreation programs are for all people – regardless of the color of their skin, age, income level or ability. It’s important that all people have access to parks, programs and facilities that enrich their lives and add value to the community. Where you see this icon, you’ll see programs, organizations and efforts that demonstrate that value.

In 2014, the Park District celebrates 50 years in existence. When you see this seal, look for facts and photos that showcase our history of providing fun and recreation that spans five decades from 1964 to the present.

Combo Drawing

This class alternates our traditional drawing subjects with cartoon drawing. In the traditional part of the program we will do a colorful drawing of a macaw parrot that will help develop our students’ sense of color. Awesome drawings like our detailed pirate ships and the friendly robot will inspire a sense of adventrue in every child. Our Native American lesson will introduce our students to basic figure drawing and a rich history. A colorful elephant graphic and pottery design will teach our students to draw stylized imagery, creating colorful patterns and design. In the cartoon drawing portion sports-related drawings like our soccer and Tae Kwon Do lessons will instruct our students to create action-inspired imagery. We’ll excite their imaginations as we transform sweet candies into fully-realized cartoon characters. Our students will also learn to tell a story through the use of sequential drawings. Learning to draw basic shapes is a critical building block for every young artist. Our lessons will strengthen our students’ core drawing skills as we introduce them to wonderful seasonal imagery. Lessons like acorns, fall leaves and an apple tree will build into their skills and creativity. Playful characters will be our focus as we draw a clown, scarecrow and an imaginary monsters inspired by a classic children’s story. There’s no better time than NOW to enroll your artist into a Young Rembrandts class. (3.5-5 years - Triphahn)

Palatine Children’s Chorus

This is a program for children and youth ages 4-18 who love to sing! The Palatine Children’s Chorus begins its 28th season in September. Our singers from throughout the northwest suburbs enjoy a variety of musical experiences in the Sing with Me (ages 4-5), Do Re Mi (ages 6-7), Treble (8+), Intermezzo, Concert, and Honors Choirs. The Chorus safely nurtures children’s voices, introduces all age groups to a variety of music, and offers each level appropriate, safe vocal instruction and music education. Our traveling choirs have performed all around the U.S. and overseas: at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall, the renowned Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, in Niagara Falls, Montreal, Quebec, Wales, England, Hawaii, Austria, Venice, San Francisco, Madrid and Barcelona Spain, and most recently, New Orleans at the St. Louis cathedral. They have also performed for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Joffrey Ballet, at Lincoln Park Zoo, and at the Illinois State Fair as well as at many local Palatine-area venues. All our choirs will perform a fall concert in October plus holiday concerts at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center on12/10 and 12/13. (Tickets purchased on line subject to a surcharge.) All PCC choruses including Do Re Mi help the mayor light the Palatine Christmas tree each year. Visit the chorus website: thepcc.org.

Hey Coach!

The success of our Youth Athletic programs relies on the many volunteers who coach our teams. Coaching is a fun and rewarding way to serve your community, either on your own or co-coaching with another parent to share responsibilities and the time commitment. Consider these benefits!

The Hoffman Estates Park District will be offering a youth volleyball league for girls and boys grades 5th - 8th. While having fun is the main goal of this program, developing skills will be encouraged. Practices will be week nights at various Hoffman Estates locations. A mandatory skills assessment will be held Saturday, 10/11 at the Triphahn Center Gymnasium: 5th and 6th Grade will be from 10:30am - noon, 7th & 8th Grade will be from noon-1:30pm. Memorial Tree or Park Bench

A unique way to honor and remember a loved one is with a memorial tree or park bench. A tree is also the perfect way to commemorate one of life’s milestones, from weddings and anniversaries to the birth of a child. A one-time donation of $600 lets you place the tree of your choice in a park that is special to you. For a Park Bench, a one-time donation of $1,500 buys a new contour style park bench mounted on a concrete pad with a bronze memorial plaque at the location of your choice. Or, a one-time donation of $300 buys a bronze memorial plaque to be mounted onto an existing park bench of your choice. For more information contact John Giacalone at 847-285-5465.

Throughout the northwest suburbs, NWSRA is the leader in providing outstanding recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. NWSRA’s team of full-time Therapeutic Recreation professionals and trained part-time staff offer a multitude of year-round program offerings including sports, camping, social programs and much more. Having fun, being included, making friends, learning new things and going new places are just a few of the benefits of NWSRA programs! Inclusion assistance is provided by NWSRA to those individuals who wish to participate in their home Park District program. When registering, the parent of an individual with a disability should inform the park district (and NWSRA, if desired) of any accommodation needed in order for the individual to successfully participate in the program. The park district staff will then contact NWSRA for assistance with the accommodation. Special Leisure Services Foundation, the fundraising arm of NWSRA, partners with public and private corporations, foundations and individuals to support and promote outstanding recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.
