NEW TO TEACHING AND LEARNING If you’re relatively new to teaching, these sessions will help you to prepare for different aspects of your new role. As well as covering the knowledge and skills you’ll need to get started, these workshops will help you feel more confident as you step into teaching.

INTRODUCTION TO TEACHING AND DEMONSTRATING This one-day session will provide an introduction to the theory and practice of teaching and learning, equipping participants with the skills to begin teaching and demonstrating. It is primarily targeted towards research students who are beginning to teach but will be relevant for any colleague who is new to teaching or who would like to learn the fundamentals of teaching and supporting learning. DELIVERING LECTURES Delivering lectures for the first time can be daunting. However, careful planning and familiarity with certain techniques can help to ensure that both you and your students have a positive experience. This session will explore approaches to delivering your initial lectures successfully. 03.09.2019 11:00-12:30

SMALL GROUP TEACHING If you're new to small group teaching, come along to this workshop for tips on how to design and deliver your sessions. Topics covered will include lesson planning, facilitating discussion and dealing with some of the common challenges that arise in a small group context. 05.09.2019 13:00-14:30

DESIGNING AND USING LEARNING OUTCOMES Learning Outcomes describe the knowledge and skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of a unit of study and provide the foundation of teaching, learning and assessment in HE. This workshop explores how to design effective Learning Outcomes and support their achievement through aligned learning and teaching. 10.09.2019 12:00-13:30

IMAGINATIVE FACILITATION TECHNIQUES "The most significant enemy of small-group work with students is their is non-participation" (Race, 2015). PERSONAL TUTOR DEVELOPMENT, PART 1 Personal Tutors are a vital resource in the creation of an environment where all students can further their personal, social and academic development. MOODLE ESSENTIALS This session will introduce you to the basics you need to know to get started using CampusMoodle: how study areas work, the best ways to add in content, and hands-on uses of the most popular activity, Forum. 04.09.2019 13:00-14:30*

MOODLE ESSENTIALS PLUS This session focusses on how CampusMoodle can support effective and efficient teaching, learning, and assessment. Come along to learn how tools such as Assignment, Feedback Studio and Quiz can support meaningful formative and summative assessment, and how the Scheduler and Feedback activities can encourage and manage student engagement. 11.09.2019 13:00-14:30*

MOODLE ADVANCED This session showcases how CampusMoodle can facilitate active, participative learning among your students. ACE THE BASELINE What is the RGU Online Learning Baseline? This session will give you an overview of the Baseline and explore how you can use it to evaluate and enhance your students' online learning experience. Participants will get the opportunity to use the Baseline within a practical activity and hear more about effective practice within RGU. 03.09.2019 14:00-15:30

INTRODUCING BLACKBOARD COLLABORATE ULTRA Sign up for this online session to experience our real-time web conferencing tool Blackboard Collaborate ULTRA (BbC ULTRA) and learn how to use it to conduct online interactive tutorials and presentations. 03.09.2019 13:00-14:00*

INTRODUCING PANOPTO For Panopto beginners, this session gives an overview of the software and equipment used to create a recording or ‘captured’ lecture. You will learn how to create, edit, view and share a recording, and the training includes an overview of settings and support available. 27.08.2019 10:00-11:30

SUPPORTING SUCCESS WITH PANOPTO RGU’s presentation and lecture capture system Panopto can be used in numerous ways to support student learning beyond the classroom. These sessions use a ‘flipped’ training approach: materials will be sent to you after sign-up and there will be a drop-in session for you to come and practice or ask any questions you may have

ENHANCE YOUR PANOPTO RECORDINGS Come along to this session to learn about Panopto’s features, which can be used to enhance and add interactivity into your recordings. The topics will include using quizzes, embedding clips and YouTube videos, using Panopto for screen capture, and ideas to build interactivity by using pauses and Moodle forums. 20.08.2019 09:30-11:00

PANOPTO FOR STUDENT ASSESSMENT This training session explores the Panopto features that can be used for formative and summative assessment. Topics include recording student presentations and sharing with external markers, using assignment folders, and using Panopto to give feedback. 23.08.2019 13:00-14:30

PANOPTO OPEN DROP-IN An open drop-in session for staff to come to ask questions and practice using the Panopto software. Access the ‘flipped training’ materials ahead of time on the DELTA Resources Moodle page (various sessions covering full training, enhancing your recordings and using Panopto for student assessment) or come with any specific question in mind. 29.08.2019 13:30-15:00*

PROFESSIONAL TEACHING FRAMEWORK RGU’s Professional Teaching Framework (PTF) is coordinated by DELTA and offers a range of CPD opportunities accredited by Advance HE. By participating in the Framework, colleagues involved in teaching and supporting learning can be recognised as Associate Fellows, Fellows, or Senior Fellows of the Higher Education Academy. The PTF offers a range of options for you to pursue the category of fellowship most appropriate to your current role and experience, in a way that best suits your needs.
